It used to have a post of the day, I'm not sure why they got rid of it. It was different from the karma and rep thing that other forums have, people could vote on posts and the one with the most votes gets POTD. I wish they could bring that feature back.

I like tk's function because of the ability to add a comment without posting, so if all you really have to say is "haha" you don't clutter up the thread with it.

We had a "like" feature for posts (you could click and "like" someone's post). I used to like the feature and even suggested Duchess bring it back but on further reflection, I don't think I like it (or want it back) anymore.
It's too chummy.

User, with that 'like' feature did you remain anonymous? A voting system like that might work if the source of the ballot remained anonymous.

This. TK's system is lovely.

You really don't. This forum is too fragile for something like that. Glass cannon, if you will. Actually, more like a water balloon.

The like feature wasn't that great, the POTD was better because you could vote on someones post anonymously and click on their name and see all their POTD's. For example someone like Cracker might have 2000 and Ramsey would have six . I think she said the new software wouldn't allow the feature anymore or something like that.

I hope Duchess thinks it's a good idea too.

Too many people used that ridiculous system as a popularity contest in here. I deactivated it when posts that simply consisted of a smiley were being "liked". I agree it does play a role when it's used as it is intended though.

Some people are completely retarded.
Fits in with this video + comment I came across earlier today; quite nicely AMOF.
Quote:This is why every single restaurant on Yelp is rated between 3 and 4 stars. I understand the reason behind user voting, Spiked obviously uses it well, but crowd sourcing a bunch of idiots is always going to end up with the same generic crap. You'd think that a restaurant that is bad would have 1.2 stars, and a good restaurant 4.7 or something, but they are all within a point of each other because of people like this that rate things without any rationale similar to how you'd rate a place. It all blends into background noise and becomes mostly useless.

Why?
I loved POTD, everyone did but Sally just told you the reason we no longer have it. It's been almost 3 yrs. since we've had the software that supports it.

Actually Sally said, 'I'm not sure why they got rid of it'. Leaving the impression with me that it was by choice and may be something Mock had in it's quiver.

The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

Sorry, Still recuperating from that virtual reverse lobotomy procedure I under went this morning. Reading comprehension is one of the last functions to be restored and it can take up to a week.

At first I said I wasn't sure but then I recalled something being mentioned about the software when everyone bitched about it being done away with.

It was a popular feature because it put Mock in direct competition with other sites. The POTD forum is no longer online & I can't even recall the names of the other forums that participated.

Sally, since Gear's back you need to put back his portion of your avatar. We can't be the Walton's without John Boy.
