I grew up in Palos Verdes, lived in SD for awhile and now I live north of SF.

Yeah, I remember seeing you.

Strange, it was a little sad watching the "mighty" Woodhaven trees in our back yard cut down today. They were severely damaged in last October's freak monster 16" SNOW storm we had here, where many 60' limbs snapped in half, and crashed down in our yard.
And they continued to fall sporadically since then. Well just Wednesday morning, a 20' limb fell & hit our back deck, just 3' away form our bbq grill, where I was bbqing just the night before. So as much as we liked those trees, they had to go.

I can't believe the expert tree crew we had cut "3" 60 foot high trees down to the ground in only "3" hours! And that was including "chipping" them into mulch, and blowing those chips into a catcher truck. They drove a big ole cherry picker bucket truck into our back yard, along with a tree chipper & chip catcher truck.

(Not to mention, now no more shade, so we will need 45SPF lotion to sit out on the deck before 3pm.) (We'll need to get an awning installed)
Here's a picture of the sad event. hah
