You know, LC, I never ate these damn things until I met you. Thanks a bunch. *sigh* And now my husband expects me to prepare them from scratch EVERY time.

I love butter & sugar corn and just had 4 ears. I went apple picking today and got 2 bags of Mac's. Some will go in a few pies. Some will become candied apples with crushed peanuts. The rest well.........they are getting eaten kinda fast. It gets dark early now.

Oh Maggot..butter & sugar is my favorite corn, I think. Just need to master eating it with the new choppers I have in my mouth. I refuse to do the baby way of cutting the corn off.
Did have both a caramel and a candy apple in the past week, though. The town of Hilton
, near me is having it's Apple Fest in a couple weeks. Got to get there early if you want a parking space.

apples are the true harbinger of Fall, and CIDER!

apples on my trees are small this year, but they can be baked and saved overwinter for the deer.

Yes the trees are turning, my maples usually go first they are a bright orange and red, the birch trees are yellow now and the leaves are blanketed the front yard like a quilt. Farmers markets are all over the place with jams and preserves and pickled things. Mums are the flower of the day and everyone has a few baskets of them.
I am in the middle of making a new bulkhead to support the snow and the generator just got a tuneup. I have to rototill my garden and plant some rye grass but I am still getting tomatoes as we have not had a frost yet. The green wood from last year needs to be split I might hire a kid to do that this year. I can do about a cord but it beats the hell out of me doing it. Its getting old and so am I.........
