You can watch stuff, but I think you have to take a step back and process what you are seeing. Just like in real life. It is difficult to be sucked in and influenced when something is presented in a bias way, but you can do it.

Duch, some of the nastiest, meanest, terriblest, horriblest, evilest backstabbers I have ever met have been Christians. 2 muslims gave up a seat for me on a bus once in the Middle East, they saved my life, literally, I am not joking. So you really have to take people as you find them. You have your radar, you got no need to fear.

As for the veil, it represents oppression of women to us as western women, that's how we view it and that is probably why it makes your skin crawl.

You should NOT be feeling guilty about misgivings about masked/disguised people running around in our society.

I would like to be tolerant and it bothers me that I'm not.

Darlin, I am one Tolerant kind of guy....Up to a point.
In this case its the point where these assholes come over here and want to change everything about this country and kill folks that look like me.
So Fuckem, I do not consider it to be intolerant to resist invasions by assholes.
Tolerant is not killing gays because they offend your personal beliefs. Tolerant is not burning out the house across the street because black folks moved in.
I have gay neighbors, those guys are superior landscapers. I have black neighbors, one guy has a bass boas and a chocolate lab and a Great looking OL and 2 nice kids.
I even have a couple Muslim neighbors, don't socialize with them, but they are there. I don't have a lot in common with a guy that can't appreciate a good BLT.
I also have quite a few Muslim friends I have made over the years, good guys. They want the same things we do. They are not the kind that think its ok to just start shooting people.

OK, I need another cocktail

The only assholes who ever successfully invaded this country and killed everything and changed shit and tore it up was us, you numbskull. Pretty much every other case of mass immigration wound up enriching us as a country.
Thank god I am oblivious to the opinions of others while caught in the blinding splendor of my own cleverness.

Same here. Our country is a multicultural nation, it's not a 'whites only' place.

I almost made a thread with that title. We are often on a similar wave length. We both have a habit of posting something completely off topic or random. I think I will start that thread anyway.

There is a lady here who has worked a good portion of her life with refugees from different parts of the world. Sometimes we have time for staff to share their stories, travels etc etc and the people she has encountered and the things they have gone through is amazing and like nothing I am sure any of us could imagine.

I will not post any story to try to persuade anyone to any way of thinking-everyone has their own ideas, that is not my goal.

One of the girls was brought over here by a family and she was a slave, she ran away and was able to get help.
Another family were arrested in Texas when they tried to come here from Burma and they were held like prisoners and not taken care of well at all.

When they come here, they are afraid.

Not all of them, I am sure, yeah there are terrorists, but I don't want to be the one to decide which one is and which one is not. There has got to be a way for some of these people to be able to escape and have a chance at life.

I am more afraid of Trump and his supporters than I am of refugees at this point.
To be a feminist is simply to believe that everybody should be treated equally, regardless of sex. It means you think that there should be equality of the sexes economically, socially, politically and personally. When you put it like that, it’s surely difficult for anybody to deny being a feminist. But for such a simple concept, it is often dramatically misunderstood.

I understood his appeal for quite awhile and then the tide turned. I saw him blatantly lying and I saw people supporting that and I saw them justifying it. It turned me off.

And that red cap! What is that? I mean, we all have bad hair days but that coverup tactic is atrocious.

I'm still seeing the burkas around town. I haven't taken the time to read about what the differences are and I'll probably live to regret that after posting. I see black burkas and I see colorful burka-like outfits. I don't know what the different colors mean but I mentally react to them. I smile at the girl delivering bread who wears color and I just sorta watch (as I go by) those in black. Ugh. Maybe this should have went into Sally's I suck thread.

I would prefer none but become offended when they walk way behind their husband. They never smile and I think it's fear.

I was wrong in calling it a burka. It's a Niqab, Chador and (I guess) a Hijab that I see around.

Just be glad you don't have to wear one. I wore them when I was in the middle east. The black dress part is called an 'abaya' and the black scarf part is called the 'hijbab'.

I'm delighted I don't have to wear one but to hear some of those women talk they don't seem to mind. I think that's only because they don't know any different.

Culture is culture. Remember in our own it wasn't all that long ago that cinched corsets were appropriate attire for the elegant lady. I've come to the conclusion that we're all completely insane.
