For a split second I wondered how my kids would fare if I took off for a few days and went to visit my mom. Alone.
They'd burn down the house and/or kill each other within hours of my departure.
*sigh* Thanks, Duchess. I may just do that. I'm still going through the motions like we're leaving tomorrow but...
I need to make a decision. The stress will subside once I do although the money remorse will bug me for awhile.

Aww, shoot. I was looking forward to a Coachella thread filled with pix of intoxicated revelers and topless women.
This is fucking stressful. I've got a daughter that basically doesn't want to go anywhere right now, two airline tickets to So. Cal (leaving tomorrow), a hotel room that I've already passed the "cancel by" date, my son is here so I have to ship him off to friends if we go and the husband is out of town.
This whole debacle may be a waste of close to $3000 if I throw in the towel and say fuck it.
You should be ashamed! Why don't you Mother up, grow some fucking balls and show your whiney daughter who the parent is. Tell her to get in her room and get her shit packed, she's going, end of story.
Yeah, I'm sure I'm the only one thinking that!
Here's another bright idea...take 3 grand out of your spoiled daughters piggybank, make her donate it to the soup kitchen, and then make her volunteer there for the time she would have been miserable at the concert.

Meanie. You have a point but I was thinking about it and it's largely selfish on my part. I'm not too terribly interested in this trip anymore either. I was already bitching about the music festival which sounded funner about 8 months ago when I bought the tickets. Now, the only part of it that sounds appealing is visiting for a day or two with my mom (but we're scheduled to stay 5 nights down there). I have no great love of Palm Springs; I'd just assume get together with her at her first home.
If I can recoup most of the money, I'll come out somewhat even with what I will have saved by not going (car rental fees, airport parking, general travel expenses etc.). I caught a break with the hotel; even though I was past the cancellation date, they gave me a full refund of $777. I'm still half ass making arrangements to go; we could always just stay at my mom's place the entire time, but my heart isn't really in it.

Put another way, if I'm being honest, I don't want my daughter to want to go. Now that you mention my balls, or lack thereof, what I'm guilty of is laying this off on her to a degree instead of acknowledging that I don't want to go but I don't like wasting the money and I feel a little guilty about the couple of days with my mom (although I don't think it will be a big deal for her).
Shit.

Donate the tickets to a non-profit for a tax write-off.
Schedule an appointment to get your daughter's tubes tied.
You never know at what point she'll be changing her mind.
I'm not spelling this one out for you.
BTW - Go to PS. Have some fun. Lots of cool things to do. C'mon! If not for the mid-century modern architecture, the museum and funky retro stores . . . then at least for some cool eateries downtown.
There's always the Marilyn upskirt photo op!

Just think of all the good things you could do with $3k. Yet you buy tickets to a show, book a room and buy plane tickets only to decide meh I'm not feeling it after all. And what lesson is that teaching your daughter?

Looks like we're going. My daughter says she wants to now and that's fine. I'm still not wildly excited (I hate trip prep) but I'll be fine once we hit the road.
Gotta go pack!

You could be a long lost friends brother or sister. Or a mailman.

I haven't sold our tickets yet so I'm bringing them.
There are a ton for sale on eBay. I guess this year's line up wasn't as attractive as prior years.

The Coachella festival is held in Indio I think. Anyway, it's around 45 minutes from my mom's house in Palm Springs so if I don't sell the tickets, we might at least go for a peek.

Have fun, be safe & take lots of pix. Don't make eye contact, you're a MILF, they will be all over you like white on rice.
