I've had a few people tell me they aren't worth it & I don't buy them for my stuff. Do you buy extended warranties for your electronics & other things? I'd ask if they were worth it but you obviously think they are if you're buying them.

I only use the warranty that comes with the product on manufacturing defects the rest is just a waste. Mieneke is a good example sure they warranty their brakes but you have to go in every 6 months to have them checked or it voids the warranty who has the time?

I read an article about extended warranties a few weeks ago...if I remember correctly (I was probably stoned when I read it), 45% of yearly profits come from EWs. I have bought an extended warranty on a used car in the past, and was glad I did.
Don't buy EWs...you're wasting your money.

I don't buy the EW on my car since I usually trade it in at the 3 year mark. I did buy it for my new laptop and the plan for the LR furniture I bought a few months ago.

I/we have only bought one. I'm not a fan of these, and generally think they're a rip off. When I bought my house, we "needed" a plasma TV to go over the fireplace. So we go pick out a nice one. I think it was around $1500 or so at the time. Ex wanted the extended warranty...and I'm of the opinion "fuck that, I pay that much money for a TV, the fucking thing better not have any problems soon after the manufactures warranty runs out."
Well, she won the discussion, so we ended up getting it. Sure as shit, the thing crapped out after 2 years. The repair would have come to approx $800 had we not gotten the warranty.
Not sure if I'll ever buy one again on a major purchase, but I'm certainly glad she talked me into the one for the TV.

You are no longer in the womb, friend. The competition is tougher out here.

I bought it one for my son's airsoft rifle because the guy selling me the rifle said it would probably break. It did. I don't typically buy them though.
