Every once in a while (or often actually), a particular lyric will strike me as memorable.
Post here when you've got one of those running through your head.
All I ask is you give proper credit to the song title and artist.

So many memorable lyrics running through my head.
I love the lyrics to Tangled up in Blue by Bob Dylan. Taxi by Harry Chapin tells a great story too. Year of the Cat by Al Stewart. Last Chance Texaco by Rickie Lee Jones. Crazy River by Robbie Robertson... Lots of great blues lyrics; too many to list.
But, I guess if I had to narrow it down to the top 3 most memorable lyrical songs ever:
1. "Don't break my heart, my achy breaky heart..."
-Billy Ray Cyrus, Achy Breaky Heart
2. "Who let the dogs out, woof woof woof ... who let the dogs out, woof woof woof..."
-Baha Men, Who Let the Dogs Out
3. "What you gonna do with all that junk? All that junk inside that trunk? I'ma get, get, get, get you drunk, get you love drunk off my hump."
-Black Eyed Peas, My Humps

And it's true we are immune
When fact is fiction and TV reality
And today the millions cry
We eat and drink while tomorrow they die
Wipe your tears away...

There are lots of great lyrics but very few were from channeling dead Egfyptian kings. ;wink:
LITTLE BIT OF ME -melanie '69?
Balanced on the mountain
With the people all around
Who say that I've been up too long
And they want to bring me down
Well I wouldn't mind the falling...no
It's the ones who come to see
If all I've got left inside
Is a little bit of me
Won't you hold my hand now
Hold my hand tight
Hold lightly in the day
And hold harder at night
Well I don't mind the coming down
It's the way it's got to be
What I hope I got left inside
Is a little bit of me
Now when it is all over
And I become a seed
They'll plant me in the universe
Where the balance gotta be
Now I don't mind the dyin', no.
It's the way it's got to be
But I hope I leave behind
Just a little bit of me
A little bit of me
Balanced on my mountain
With the people all around
Who say that I've been up too long
And they want to bring me down
I don't mind the coming down
It's the way it's gotta be
What I hope I got left inside
Is a little bit of me
Hope I got something left for me
Hope I got something left for me
Hope I got something left for me

If you should ever leave me
Well life would still go on believe me
The world could show nothing to me
So what good would living do me?

Baby's into runnin round hanging with the crowd
Puttin your business in the street and talkin out loud
Sayin you bought her this and that and how much you gonna spend
I swear she must believe its all heaven sent
Hey boy, you better bring the chick around to the sad sad truth about the dirty lowdown
I wonder wonder wonder who taught her how to talk like that
I wonder wonder wonder who gave her that big idea

Hey, what's the point of this?
Hey, what's your favorite song?
Maybe we could hum along
I think you're smart you sweet thing
Tell me your name, I'm dyin here
Hey, maybe just a smile
Oh hey, did you know that I can't dance?
Could we talk for awhile?
I think you're smart, you sweet thing
Tell me your sign, I'm dying here

Well you know that it does
And lightning strikes, maybe once, maybe twice
Oh and it lights up the night!

Baby sneezes, mommy pleases, daddy breezes in.
So good on paper, so romantic, but so bewildering.
I know nothing stays the same, but if you're willing to play the game, it's coming around again
So don't mind if I fall apart, there's more room in a broken heart.
And I believe in love, what else can I do, I'm so in love with you.

A moment of love,
A dream aloud,
A kiss, a cry, our right, our wrongs...
Just stay there, cause I'll keep coming over...
While our blood's still young, it's so young, it runs...
Won't stop til it's over
Won't stop to surrender...

Remember when you ran away and I got on my knees and begged you not to leave because I'd go berserk?
Well, you left me anyhow and then the days got worse and worse and now you see I've gone completely out of my mind
And, they're coming to take me away, ha, ha
They're coming to take me away, ho, ho, hee, hee, ha, ha
To the funny farm where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats
And they're coming to take me away, ha, ha
You thought it was a joke and so you laughed, you laughed when I had said that losing you would make me flip my lid, right?
You know you laughed
I heard you laugh, you laughed, you laughed and laughed and then you left but now you know I'm utterly mad
And, they're coming to take me away, ha, ha
They're coming to take me away, ho, ho, hee, hee, ha, ha
To the happy home with trees and flowers and chirping birds
And basket weavers who sit and smile and twiddle their thumbs and toes
And they're coming to take me away, ha, ha
I cooked your food, I cleaned your house and this is how you pay me back for all my kind unselfish loving deeds, huh?
Well, you just wait, they'll find you yet
And when they do, they'll put you in the a.s.p.c.a, you mangy mutt
And, they're coming to take me away, ha, ha
They're coming to take me away, ho, ho, hee, hee, ha, ha
To the funny farm where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats
And they're coming to take me away, ha, ha
To the happy home with trees and flowers and chirping birds
And basket weavers who sit and smile and twiddle their thumbs and toes
And they're coming to take me away, ha, ha

And I'll be happy to see those nice young men...

Al Stewart's Past, Present and Future is superb, too.
You'll never know how often I think of both you and Spy while listening to music.
I'm surprised that Tequila and Wipe Out didn't make your list.
How 'bout Sanford and Townsend's Smoke from a Distant Fire?
And then there's this . . .

Smoke for a Distant Fire is a great song; had almost forgotten about it.
I don't know if you like Loggins and Messina, but I do. I thought about you (and MS, that perv) when I was listening to albums on the weekend. I hadn't played "Sittin' In" for a long time. Still have to sing Danny's Song out loud whenever I hear it.
Thanks for the video; a new one to me. Like it. I'm betting that MS will appreciate it. He was on my ass yesterday for not offering pussy in my posts.

My brain (or fingers?) is truly scrambled today. Smoke from a Distant Fire.
Found The Midnight Special performance.
I liked Wolfman Jack. I wonder if MS had a catchy handle back when he DJ'd.

No catchy handle HotD, but, I can still puke (DJ speak for talking like a well... DJ). My kids love it when I do it for them, or play an old tape.
Tiki thanks for restoring some semblance of sanity up in this bitch by acknowledging that Dan Fogelberg is/was a tremendous artist.
Everyone around here (except Sally, I really believe she has no idea who he is) is pretending they don't like 'Heart Hotels', 'Make Love Stay', 'Longer', etc., and of course, the songs you mentioned.
It's nice to know that too (for Ramsey) smart, beautiful women think of me when they're alone listening to music.
I'm truly in awe.

I already told you that I like Dan Fogelberg.
I just don't have the obsessive fascination that you demonstrated when you passionately lamented about how he had gone unrecognized as a great songwriter. I think he is well recognized as such.
I liked his collaborations with Tim Weisberg and spun Twin Sons of Different Mothers many many times. One of my favorites is the only (I think) song on the album written solely by Fogelberg, The Power of Gold.
Here you go, Love Doctor:
The story is told of the
Power of gold
And its lure on the unsuspecting
It glitters and shines
It badgers and blinds
And constantly needs protecting.
Balance the cost of the soul you lost
With the dreams you lightly sold
Are you under
The power of gold?
The letters and calls
Got you climbing the walls
And everyone wants a favor
They beg to remind you
Of times left behind you
But you know the past is a loser.
The face you`re wearing is different now
And the days run hot and cold
Are you under
The power of gold?
You`re a creature of habit
Run like a rabbit
Scared of a fear you can`t name
Your own paranoia
Is looming before you
But nobody thinks that
It`s a game.
Balance the cost of the soul you lost
With the dreams you lightly sold
Then tell me
That you`re free
Of the power of gold.
The women are lovely
The wine is superb
But there`s something about the song
That disturbs you...
