You know, when a friend of mine came out it did not make national news, and he did not get a call from the President.

For the President and the First Lady to comment on an individual's coming out is absolutely ridiculous.

I don't personally understand publicly advertising and celebrating one's sexual orientation (or preferences or availability...), but I know as many heterosexuals who do it as I do gay people.

The point, for me, is that nobody should be forced to hide it or deny it in order to get/keep a job or avoid being otherwise discriminated against.

I don't think homosexuality is wrong and like to see consenting adults gaining more freedom to love and have sex with whomever they choose, without fear of repercussions from the so-called moral majority and the bigots.
