walking while black - Trayvon Martin

Racism is alive & well in America. Some people are open and upfront about their feelings regarding blacks and many others hide it, it's not pc to be racist and a lot of people care about being seen as pc. It's not socially acceptable to be racist in America in this day & age.

*apologies to the fatty patties for the question

Technically I believe they would call it obese. If I remember right a 5 10 male should weigh somewhere aroung 165.

meh, I'm over it. I saw online an arrest for a DUI for George's <superstar> brother, rzjr. Back in 2000whatever. In the arrest report he was a fatty patty. Not the image that is seen today. Much like Zimmerman's 2005 mugshot. A contrast to dwell on, is all it is.

But yet a kid that had barely turned 17, is demonized because his parents gave the media a picture of him wearing a red hollister shirt from the year before he was murdered. The defense and the defendant yelps and yelps and yelps about the <red shirt>? photo.

As if? It was some lib media conspiracy lol lol

I wonder if that neighborhood has seen an uptick in small time crime. B&E and stuff. What was the statistic at the time and now? I get the impression that the line between the two areas was within one street like most places.

Black leaders often do a disservice to black youth. Instead of saying they need to get their shit together and stop acting like gangsters, they perpetuate the "black as victim mentality". I don't care what color you are, you walk like a duck, act like a duck...

Still, I don't agree with what George did. Vigilante.

The gated community had like 5 B&E over a two year period, nowhere as bad as the big fat delusional liar made it out to be. Two of them turned out to be known to the homeowner (friends), two were in townhomes underconstruction, and one was the real deal and the police arrived too late and the assholes got away. However, Zimmerman's wife saw black guys running away. Other than Mrs Zimmerman eyeing black guys running, there was no indication that black guys were committing any crimes. That was fat fucks delusion.

And so fat fuck started calling 911 on all the black guys he saw, and harrassing them. And then started the Neighborhood Watch.

The level of crime in the complex is something that I'm looking forward to seeing clarified during trial. The defense is using high crime as rationale for George's suspicion of Trayvon and a justification for his "fear" (that doesn't explain pursuing Trayvon, which George denies doing, of course). But, I've read conflicting versions of how much crime was really going on in the Twin Lakes complex.

We do know that George called police at least 46 times in 8 years (he was only Neighborhood Watch fro 6 months before the killing), with the more recent ones being primarily related to suspicious black males in the neighborhood.

Here's a snip from one of the first articles that I read regarding crime in the complex:

A review of police records confirms Taaffe’s (Twin Lakes resident) account of crimes in the neighborhood. According to the Miami Herald, police were called to Twin Lakes 402 times in the 13 months before Martin’s death. According to the Herald’s review of police records, the community experienced eight burglaries, nine thefts, and a shooting over that period.

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/20...e-911.html

That seems like a lot of calls from a 260 unit complex; maybe because I have never once called the police to my place, regardless of the kind of neighborhood I was living in (done all kinds, but inclined to avoid inviting authorities into my space unless there was absolutely no other option). So, maybe it's subjective and not so high? IDK, but it's certainly gonna be a point of focus at trial.

The judge ordered today that Shellie Zimmerman's perjury trial will be pushed back until after George's second degree murder trial concludes. His trial is scheduled to start on June 10th.

Shellie Zimmerman didn't appear at today's docket sounding related to perjury charges against her.

In court, Sims (Shellie Zimmerman's attorney) continued to argue the special prosecutor, Corey, appointed to George Zimmerman case doesn’t have jurisdiction to charge Shellie with perjury. The judge isn't budging and reiterated that the two cases are directly related because the alleged perjury transpired during George's initial bond hearing.

MONEY is building up to be a big factor between the two sides too. O'Mara's essentially accusing the Martins of spreading misinformation about the case for monetary gain and may try to use that at trial. (Kinda ironic given the perjury charges against Mrs. Zimmerman for hiding assets and donations, at her husband's direction.)

Some updates from today:
-The defense filed its final witness list today, it's now up to 210 witnesses, including 50 new unidentified ones who are believed to be character witnesses (not all will be called, but it's a lot).

-Attorneys are scheduled to be back in court April 30 to argue over a series of issues. One is whether Zimmerman is entitled to a copy of a $1 million-plus settlement agreement between Trayvon's parents and Zimmerman's homeowners' association, the organization through which he set up a Neighborhood Watch.

Looks like this is gonna be a loooong trial with a lot of drama and accusations not related to the killing itself. Still several weeks til trial and O'Mara's swinging at the Martins and their attorney, Crump.

I dont see a problem with this target. Infact thanks for posting it. I have saved it and will be adding it to the targets I have stored and currently print and use. I will probably alter it to remove the contents of the right hand, but I will use this.
Some of the targets I use are not ones that I print, some are purchased throught a police gear website and are used by LE for practice.

Here are a couple from that LE website that I use and I have never had one person complain.

I don't see a problem with the target either, were it not for the Skittles and Iced Tea depictions. Those depictions transform it from general and benign to completely inappropriate and unprofessional, imo. Clearly, the LE was encouraging others to practice shooting at a target meant to represent Trayvon Martin, an unarmed 17 year old who was reportedly not in the commission of any crime when he was shot dead. Stupid cop.

===================================

In follow-up to post 1691, here's the motion filed by O'Mara to have the settlement agreement between the Martins and the homeowners association unsealed.

http://www.gzdocs.com/documents/0413/resp_to_crump.pdf

I think that O'Mara really wants the door open to not only paint Trayvon as a thug at trial, but also to paint his parents as greedy money-grubbers.

It's gonna be very ugly in that courtroom. I haven't watched the hearings, but Adub mentioned upthread that the judge is on the ball; good. She's gonna have her hands full.

The craziness and apeshit surrounding this case know no color.

Hoping the facts and evidence presented at trial tell the story of what happened that night in February 2012, but it's clear there's gonna be a lot of inflammatory shit-stirring and diversions tossed into the process.

The hearing to be held on Tuesday 4 / 30 should be interesting, especially if George is to be questioned by Judge Nelson.

Several issues will be addressed, including whether Zimmerman plans to pursue immunity or not.

From today:
The state opposes combining the hearing and trial and doesn't want Zimmerman to be able to claim immunity after trial, if he's convicted.

De la Rionda's filing suggests the motion will be addressed at a hearing next week: He asked that Zimmerman attend, likely so the judge could question him.

The state also filed notices indicating prosecutors deposed Zimmerman's parents, his brother and several of his friends last week in Sanford, where Zimmerman's trial is set to begin June 10.

The depositions included Mark and Sondra Osterman. Zimmerman and his wife lived with the couple in Lake Mary after the shooting, and the Ostermans later wrote a book about the case.

Zimmerman's brother, Robert Zimmerman Jr., is his most vocal advocate but came under fire for comparing Trayvon to a black Georgia teenager charged with shooting an infant.

HLN will be televising Tuesday's hearing.

It's an important one that will address what will and won't be allowed at trial.

Most of what will be addressed at the hearing is covered upthread. Additionally:

-Zimmerman's attorneys are also asking Judge Debra Nelson to sanction the prosecution for violating rules of discovery for failing to turn over evidence in a timely manner.

-The defense wants the prosecution to turn over phone records from Zimmerman and his wife.

From today's pre-trial hearing:

1. Zimmerman will not file for immunity prior to his trial; jury selection begins June 10th. The defense does not want to give the prosecution a glimpse into their case by having such a hearing prior to trial. The door is still open for an immunity petition after closing arguments.

The "Stand Your Ground" law allows the use of deadly force as long as the defendant can prove the following factors:

=He was not engaged in an unlawful activity.
=He was being attacked in a place he had a right to be.
=He reasonably believed his life and safety was in danger as a result of an overt act or perceived threat committed by someone else toward him.

2. Judge Nelson ruled that there was no discovery violation by the prosecution, as the defense contended. But, she agreed to consider monetary reimbursement to the defense for the time they spent investigating Witness 8's false claim that she was in the hospital to explain not attending Trayvon's funeral. De la Rionda (DLR) explained that in reality she didn't want to see Trayvon like that and DLR claims that he simply forgot to tell the defense about the fabrication. Weak oversight/move by the prosecution, imo.

3. Judge Nelson and the attorneys will meet this afternoon in a closed hearing to discuss jury selection issues.

4. Next hearing is scheduled for May 28th.

Tweets from court here:
http://www.hlntv.com/article/2013/04/29/...al-hearing

Defense attorney, O'Mara's press statement after the trial:
“This case has taken on a huge significance well beyond the facts of the case. Trayvon Martin was not profiled because he was black. George is not a racist. It was an event where two lives intersected and one of them got extraordinarily aggressive. The evidence supports that was Trayvon Martin, who had no injuries but for the fatal gunshot,” said O’Mara. “Criminal immunity is going to be granted to George by the jury and that is what we are looking towards. So in that context, talking about immunity when we know we’re going to have a jury trial is irrelevant. It truly is."
