GUNS DON'T KILL PEOPLE, OR DO THEY?
(12-12-2013, 03:36 PM)F.U. Dont ask again Wrote: The facts are still there. People get all bent out of shape when it comes to a gun, but forget about that unborn child getting cut out of its mother and thrown away. The fact that the anti gun people ignore that fact makes me think they have all lost their minds.

I'm anti-abortion too F.U.

I'm a conservative who doesn't kiss the NRA's ass.

Hard to believe I can detest abortion AND automatic weapons at the same time.

Not hard to believe at all. Killing is the common ground there and weather it be with a knife or a gun you feel it is wrong. That type attitude I can understand. However there are far to many that say forget about the knife, look at the gun. Thanks for not being one of those.

Still unrleated and diversionary, in my opinion, F.U.

There's no argument that a child who was born and then killed by a gunshot wound was alive before the incident - that's not debatable. Big differences of opinions and hotly debated as to when life begins, on the other hand.

I'm not interested in participating in the abortion debate again, in the gun thread nor one of the abortion threads. But, I understand and respect your opinion as to when life begins.

For me, the abortion debate, regardless if looked at from a pro-life or pro-choice view, is not related to the issue of responsible gun ownership and keeping loaded weapons out of reach of children.

That's all.

Define “life”? Is there a difference between alive and life?

Is a zygote alive? Yes in the same way bacteria or germs or a collection of cells is alive. Is a zygote a human being? No it isn't. Is removing a zygote murder? No it isn't.

Why aren't there people outside pharmacies with placards defending the “life” of bacteria or germs?

Is all “life” sacred?

If a fetus or zygote is human why isn't your age and lifespan calculated from the point of conception?

Will you actually answer any of these questions or just make statements and ask more questions as usual?

Answer my question OP. At what date does that fetus become a life?

You're welcome.

As you know I've never said “forget about the knife” and the next time someone commits a massacre in a school or shopping mall with a knife I will be the first one to condemn it.

But I won't say ban all knives like I have never said ban all guns.

I say have laws and measures that stop the sale of firearms to sociopaths. You aren't a sociopath you get to keep your guns hurrah! I'm not to sure about the assault rifles but if you don't go mental with them I might even argue you can keep them if they are securely stored.

According to UK law after 24 weeks.

Now you answer my questions please.

Thats UK law, when do you feel life begins?

People aren't protesting for the life of bacteria or germs because they are not a human life form. But in fact they are harmfully [or can be] to human life.

Calculation of age is a piss poor way of trying to defend your argument. We could look at it like the B.C. and A.D. thing. A human is 365 [give or take depending on if it is a premature , full term] days Before birth and the it starts it After birth count.

We have laws that don't get enforced. That's why you see so many arguments when these shootings occur. People cry for more laws while the other side (for lack of a better term) say we don't need any more laws, enforce the ones we have. Straw purchases are a big problem and the people who participate in them need to have the goddamn book thrown at them. People need to fear the consequences of getting caught. That's just one example of many problems.

(I live in the UK and I am law abiding so you do the maths)

(A zygote isn't a human lifeform either its a collection of cells. Humans can be harmful to human life uncle Adolf springs to mind, would you have aborted him? Think how many human lives you could save if you did?)

(You call it piss poor because you can't explain why life is counted from the moment you are born not conceived. Always has been always will be)

Why is it that the number of years that the earth has ben around is not calculated from the moment of the big bang? The 2013 years as we know it is not correct either, but it is what we all use.

I must admit that these discussions we have here do make a person think. Or at least they do make me think. When OP called me a gun nut I laughed it off, then I began to think about it. I looked around the room and seen the number of handguns I have in this room alone. So now I am thinking that maybe, just maybe I do keep a little to much firepower around me at all times. So this fact now gives ME somthing to think about.

Before someone freaks out because I have all these loaded guns right here , my grandchildren no longer live with us. It is just my wife and I. There is no chance that the Gkids can get their hands on these.

Good.

Some people conveniently forget I used to own shotguns, pistols and crossbows. I also used to kill animals quite frequently. My ancestors were never rich and most came from rural areas in north east England, Scotland and Northern Ireland and they hunted to put more on the dinner table.

I've moved on from that now and I wouldn't hunt again and I hate fox hunting, bull fighting and badger baiting.

If that makes me a pussy so be it.

No, not a pussy at all. Its your choice and as long as you dont push it on others thats fine.
In my youth I was a street racer [I guess thats what they call them now] . I no longer do that , but I also dont tell others that they cant street race now. That would make me a hypocrite.

No, I am trying to say that when it comes to dating shit we as humans have some rather strange ways of doing it. They dont always make sense.
