Rest in peace officer Antwan Toney (left).
Toney, a Southern California native, had just turned 30 when, on October 20th, he and his partner responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in a middle school parking lot.
Toney was shot and the vehicle sped off.
Toney died shortly thereafter at the hospital while police apprehended the driver of the vehicle, which he'd crashed.
The driver was not the shooter. After a 2-day manhunt, police located the suspected shooter hiding in a backyard shed.
Police say that suspect Tafahre Maynard - 18 (right) refused to show his hands and was not subdued when tasered. So, an officer shot and killed him.
Police continue investigating the incident and looking to hold accountable anyone who assisted Maynard while he was on the lam.
