All of this has caused me to reflect back on New Orleans, in the post Katrina days. Do you remember when all of those people from NOLA tried to cross the bridge into the next town over and the sheriff's dept of that town met them with a wall of armed sheriffs and would not let them in? I remember thinking, "those poor people", and Anderson Cooper covered it for a week. Well, now I know why that other town didn't want them coming over. I later learned that NOLA was full of projects and a huge percentage of the population were gang bangers. Nobody in their right mind opens their community to that shit - except for the idiots in Houston, which saw an immediate rise in crime as a result.
The dogs are the ones I still feel for. I'll never forget that.
