Don't be so nieve...hasn't it ever crossed your mind that it is very strange that out of all of the people in the world to find Johnny and Lisa it just happens to be Johnny's parents? Go back and listen to the 9-11 tapes because they are extemely important. From the very first call, Maytee "Knew!" something. The second call she uses the word "kidnap"...which was 2 hours before they were found. This woman knows more than she is telling police and we all know it.
Yes she is probably grieving...but the word "mother" I don't really know if that fits her. Johnny never had a chance with her in his life and if John Sr is smart he would pack up and get away from her before it's too late for him as well, and take the two other kids as well.

Easily explained IMO. In the first call, Maytee knew something was seriously wrong because she'd been told about the phone call and supposed conversation with her son 2 hours earlier and nobody had been able to reach him or Lisa since. The lack of response from both kids, combined with what TW told her, caused panic.
When LE did the welfare check and didn't find them at the house, she might have jumped to the conclusion they'd been kidnapped after what TW said she'd heard Johnny say.
However, I do agree it's very strange that it was Johnny's parents who found the bodies, and I'm not convinced that it wasn't part of the plan for the Clarkes to find them. AP has been pretty scathing and insistent about Maytee being a 'snitch', and maybe the murders were a twisted way to punish her or her family. Tiff pretty much manipulated the family's discovery by offering to take John Sr. to the house.
