ATHLETIC ASSHOLES
DARREN SHARPER -- GUILTY

Sharper was charged with rape in Las Vegas early yesterday, finally. That seemed to be the final nail in his coffin.

Cops appear to have all kinds of evidence that Darren Sharper did indeed drug and rape several women in at least 4 states -- Nevada, Louisiana, California, and Arizona.

Late yesterday, it was announced that Sharper has decided to plead guilty to all of the state and federal charges against him rather than go to trial and face 10 years for the aggravated rape of each of his accusers. If convicted, he would have spent the rest of his life in prison.

I'm relieved that this particular rich and famous man -- a man who could have easily attracted lots of beautiful women willing to have consensual sex with him -- will not get away with serial incapacitation and rape.

Some of the cops attached to the case and Sharper were a joke though, and worse.

-The cop who originally handled the New Orleans rape investigations was found not to have investigated 97% of his cases, including the rape allegations against Darren Sharper.
-Louisiana cop, Brandon Licciardi, is charged with helping Sharper drug and rape women (he pleaded "not guilty" in February).
-It took LVPD over 8 months to test the rape kits.

I'm glad the FBI was involved (due to the drug distribution element of the case).

Anyway, the details of the plea deal have not been released yet -- hope it's not too lenient. Sharper is a dangerous sexual predator, a raging misogynist, and IMO a disgusting piece of shit.

I got a text alert saying he signed with the Steelers and that a guy from the 'Niners, Frank Gore signed with the Eagles. I went to find Ray's contract details after reading your question and I can't find anything saying he even signed. Stupid text alert.

Frank Gore finished his Eagles career with 0 fumbles, 0 missed games, and 0 losses. Future HoF Eagles running back imo. His presence in the locker room will surely be missed.

Sharper's Plea Deal -- No Nearly Enough

For his multi-jurisdictional plea deal, Darren Sharper will spend nine years in prison. Nine years -- about one year for each known woman that he drugged and raped.

It's better than nothing like in Cosby's case. Still, in this day and age, it's disappointingly lax, IMO.

Ah well, at least he will serve 10 years total, his career is shot, his victims won't have to be raked through the mud, and everybody knows that he's a piece of shit serial rapist.

The Serial Raping Playbook of Darren Sharper

Sharper claimed to have sleep problems as a result of football injuries and had prescriptions for a ton of Ambien.

Ambien (Zolpidem) has replaced roofies as the rapists' drug of choice since Rohypnol was outlawed in 96. It's not easily detectable when mixed in beverages and quickly incapacitates in high doses.

-Sharper would put a pack of pills in his pockets and go to an event or a party and then sidle up to women who were hanging out in pairs.

-Sometimes he'd drug one of the female friends at the event to the point where she got sick and then offer to take the pair to the "sick" woman's home or her friend's home.

- Once the sick woman was tucked in, he'd drug the other one and rape them both while they were completely incapacitated.

Fortunately, some of the women briefly came to at different points during the assaults -- they remembered him on top of them or their friend without knowing what the hell happened before then or right after.

Unlike a single victim, the women could confer with each other and help fill in fuzzy pieces -- they knew damned well from their bodies and comparing notes that they'd been knocked out and raped. They went to police (there are probably others who didn't, but 4 pairs of women who were raped in different states did -- thankfully). Rape kits and drug tests supported their reports.

Disgusting predatory behavior. I hope Sharper's next nine years in a cage are extremely unkind to him.

This verdict came down last week. Suprised it took this long to make it in here. I agree it's too lax. Unfortunately he'll likely be a hero inside.

Surprised you'd wait for someone else to post what you already know if you're interested in the subject matter. Post what you know when you know it, slacker.

Sharper was sentenced to 20 years immediately after pleading guilty to the Los Angeles, NV, and Arizona rapes. Some sources speculated last week that he'd likely serve 10 for each, with 1 year credit for time served. It was not clear to me whether the same would be true for the remaining pleas and if all of the sentences would be concurrent until I researched a little this weekend.

Now I know -- concurrent sentences for all. Sweet for Sharper. Sucks for his victims.

Okay.

Glad to see you have enough free time this week to share your surprise that others might have too much stuff going on to post the news as it occurs.

We're all here to serve you in a timely manner after all, Gunnar.

Demanding asshole. Smiley_emoticons_wink

I just have high expectations is all. hah With all of the attention on athletes behavioral issues lately I assumed this would have gotten folks up in arms sooner than it did. I was on an emotional roller coaster last week as I thought I was going to have to put the family dog (Thorny) down. But doc says he has at least a couple of good years left in him.

I haven't seen anybody here get up in arms over the Darren Sharper sentencing.

I'm not sure if anybody other than I, and apparently you, have even been following the strange case, Gunnar.

Anyway, Sharper's one fucked up individual -- he hurt a lot of people to get what he felt entitled to and took a lot of risks doing it. I'm glad he's off the prowl.

P.s. Glad for you and your family that Thorny's not on his last legs quite yet.

He really is a jacked up dude. And while I agree it's good to have him off the street, he'll be a celebrity inside.

Thank's, he's back up on all fours now.

He will be a celebrity, but that's over 3000 days he'll wake up and ask himself how much he likes sex with dudes.

I seriously doubt he'll get raped in the joint. He'll have pizza parties on game day, tell old stories from his time on the grid iron, conjugals with the crazy bitches that will still throw themselves at him etc...

I wasn't saying he'd get raped. We all know rape is a crime of power, not passion. The only way he'll be able to exercise that power in a sexual manner in prison is by raping other guys.

Nonsense, he's there to be reformed. I'm certain he'll make great strides and return to society a new man. hah

Foul Night At Da Club -- NBA: Indiana Pacer & Atlanta Hawks

[Image: 275FA82C00000578-3030277-Injured_Chris_C...535175.jpg]
Indiana Pacers forward Chris Copeland and his wife, Katrine Saltara (pic above), were stabbed during an early morning confrontation at a nightclub in Chelsea, reports CBS New York.

Copeland was stabbed in the abdomen and Saltara was slashed in the arm, breast and buttocks, police said. An unidentified 53-year-old woman was also slashed in the stomach.

The alleged assailant, 22-year-old Shezoy Bleary, was arrested. Police said a knife was recovered.

Sources tell CBS New York that the stabbings followed an argument involving Copeland, Bleary and Saltara, which occurred as the bar was closing, at about 4 a.m.

Two members of the Atlanta Hawks -- ^ Thabo Sefolosha and Pero Antić -- were also taken into custody for allegedly obstructing the crime scene in front of the 1 OAK nightclub.

The Pacers are in town to face the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden tonight. Copeland, 31, was a member of the Knicks during his rookie season in 2012-13.

Copeland and his wife are in stable condition at Bellevue Hospital.

The question bears asking... What if he was a white basketball player? Would he and his wife have been slashed?

Doubtful. They wouldn't have been hangin' with any Shezoy's.

Yet another brilliant comparison, Gunnar.

This question bears asking, "will Gunnar ever have the ability to make a valid or compelling point or argument?".

I'm an optimist, so I choose to believe there's some hope. However, I'm also a realist, so I'm not holding my breath.
