Yeah, hard for me to wrap my head around those statements too.

I understand when religious people express their sentiment that a lost loved one is in a peaceful place with the Lord, and how they find comfort in that thought.

But, Leanna Harris went on to talk about how happy she was that her only child was not alive to experience normal life milestones in what she considers this "broken world". That doesn't sound like a religious sentiment, to me; it just sounds cold and bizarre.

Sorry if I posted that warrant in the wrong spot, I read more than I post. LOL.
I just don't get it, these two parent's aren't teens or un-educated & should know better. Last night on TV I heard Ross also searched for age of consent. I wonder if he planned a life w/his young GF? I'd love to hear what her parent's think of this or if they knew about Ross & his age.

About the search for age of consent: Yep, it's another thorny little problem for Justin Ross Harris, Pat. It came up during during the Probable Cause hearing last Thursday too. One of the girls that Ross was sexting that day was 17; Detective Stoddard indicated that she was 16 when their relationship began (I don't know the meaning of "relationship" in this instance).

If by some slim chance LE isn't able to hold Ross Harris fully accountable for his son's death, I think the asshole could do some real time anyway. Sex-related crimes with minors -- bet there's more than one minor in his world and it'll come out as police investigate his phone, computers, and external hard drives.

P.s. You posted the warrant in the right spot. We also have a locked thread for reference docs for this case; makes it easier for people following the case to refer back to facts and evidence. Duchess, Maggot, username or I can copy things that fit that criteria from the discussion thread and post them in the reference thread.

To clarify, the age of consent for Georgia is 16.

So, unless Ross Harris distributed images of the girl he was sexting on the day that Cooper died, I don't think there's a prosecutable crime there.

BUT, Detective Stoddard noted in the probable cause hearing that Justin Ross Harris had already been in trouble with the law regarding sexual activity of some sort with minors. So, it's just my opinion (given that he sexted with six different women in the course of a few hours and has a history) that he likely had electronic and/or in-person exchanges (or images) involving girls under the age of 16.

ETA: Under Federal law (regardless of the state's age of consent), it is illegal to exchange pornographic images with any one one under the age of 18. This may be what Stoddard was talking about in terms of charges already filed for "sexual exploitation".

Re-creation at the Crime Scene

Investigators took Ross Harris' SUV to the Home Depot parking lot and parked in the same spot.

They're trying to recreate as much of the events of the day as possible.

They measured temps inside the vehicle at the time Harris arrived in the morning, when he threw the bulbs in at lunch, and when he left for the day (I'm assuming the temp today was about the same as 6/18).

Sources also confirmed today that Cooper's tox screen was clean -- he was not sedated or drugged.

INVESTIGATING THE CAUSE OF DEATH -- HOT TOPIC

Snip:
They (LE investigators) parked in the same space that Harris did and measured the temperature at times of day that are key to the father's felony murder case:

-- At 9:30 a.m., when police say Harris pulled into the parking lot at Home Depot's corporate offices, where he worked. He normally would have taken Cooper to daycare then but left him in the car.

-- At 12:42 p.m., when the 33-year-old father placed light bulbs he had purchased inside the car.

-- And at 4:16 p.m., when investigators say Harris drove off.

They have not released the data yet, but CNN weather experts believe temperatures could have climbed to nearly 140 degrees inside the car.

A government traffic agency has corroborated the possibility. "Cars parked in direct sunlight can reach internal temperatures up to 131 degrees F -- 172 degrees F when outside temperatures are 80 degrees F -- 100 degrees F," the National Highway Traffic and Safety Authority said.

"Even outside temperatures in the 60s can cause a car temperature to rise well above 110° F."

On the day Cooper died, the high temperature reached 92 degrees.

THE DEFENSE ATTORNEYS

Today, defense attorney Lawrence Zimmerman confirmed to CNN he had been retained by Leanna Harris (mother of victim Cooper Harris and wife of suspect Justin Ross Harris).

About Lawrence Zimmerman:

She's not been named an official suspect or charged with anything at this point. Whether she was involved in Cooper's death to any degree or not, she's wise to retain an attorney, IMO.

Currently, Ross Harris is represented by defense attorney Maddox Kilgore; he handled the defense at the July 3rd Probably Cause hearing.

Do the parents that end up with their kids dead in the car in the summer do it all year long? Can't figure how it is only a oops in the summer.

Good question.

I heard the children who are left to cook to death in a vehicle referred to as lil' sizzlers.

Ya know, I was having a slow day when this first happened. I read all of Harris's reddit comments way back in the first few days. Including his (RoscoeUA) comments on the child-free one.

The child-free was mostly a discussion about responsibly deciding not to have children, not getting rid of them.

And then the ugly commenters entered the conversation. Very reminiscent of some conversations in other places, iykwim. I wouldn't take those "NEWSWORTHY" tidbits too serious.

I wouldn't. I was horrified when I saw it repeated, I didn't understand why anyone would want to.

My point was that the forum (sub-reddit) was not about finding ways to get rid of live children. It was about people who decide not to have children, then the trolls arrived. And lil sizzlers was born...

I didn't see any comments from Harris about lil sizzlers or killing children. He only made a few comments and they were pro-parenting. Like if you are going to have kids then you need take parenting serious. If you don't want kids don't have them. That is paraphrased, of course.

I do believe this creep intentionally left his son in the car to die. He researched and thought at the most he'd get off on probation.

Do you have an opinion yet as to whether the wife was likely involved, Adub?

I'm leaning toward she is just a stupid twat. Not that he isn't also. Just that I can't see her as a co-conspirator, or the master mind.

My take is that she wasn't giving him sex, and that she was bringing the baby into the bed as an excuse, maybe sleeping with Cooper at times, just to get away from her pig of a husband.

In Harris's puny dickhead, Cooper was the reason that the wife was no longer interested in sex? It couldn't be his own sexy self, it was that the baby had changed his wife. And he liked it the way it was before Cooper was born.

I would never, ever stand in support of ANYONE who let something I love die, whether it be from murder or negligence. I just wouldn't. I wouldn't be able to get past it. Animal or human, it's all the same to me.

I wanna believe that she's just a stupid twat, too.

The fact that she wasn't freaking out about what Cooper went through straight off, and instead reportedly more concerned about how it was affecting her husband, has me leaning the other way, though.

That, paired with her strange comments and focus on Ross at Cooper's funeral, makes me really suspicious that she either conspired to kill the baby or knew Cooper was at risk in Ross's hands and looked the other way.

Will be interesting to see what the investigation turns up.

I'm not convinced she was in on it but she didn't seem surprised by what happened. I think she will get charged with something. Maybe accessory after the fact. I find it hard to believe they didn't talk about Cooper earlier in the day. Ross says shit! I left him in the car. He's probably already dead. And she conspired with him to say it was an accident.
