Shit, I've never even heard of the movie, food, and booze theater. We have the Foreign Cinema restaurant here -- good food and wine with an international flick showing on the back patio wall. But, that's all about the dining and the film is secondary.

I'm gonna have to make it to User's neck of the woods with a designated driver. Then, I might know what movie to bet on for the Oscars. As it stands, I've seen exactly.................zero of the contenders.

Me either. I looked up a couple of them. One of the films nominated took more than 12 years to make. A couple people in that film were nominated as well and the female said she was pregnant with her son when she began the movie and he just turned 13.

I've never even seen Titanic and I was probably the last person in the world to see Ghost all those years ago. I don't know movies at all.

Really?

I thought the theatres here stole it from you guys. We've had it for like 10 years that I can remember.

I think you're talking about Boyhood. It's playing OnDemand now; gonna try to kick back and watch it this weekend, but it's like 3 hours long. I like both Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette.

(I still haven't seen Titanic either.)

I'm either screwed or there's another Crossroads theater business.

Crossroads Theatre Company is an African American theater.

In 1978, a group of African American actors and leaders met with the Regional Director of the Comprehensive Employment & Training Administration, Ed Hardy, and Director of Management Development & Training, Susan Morris, to request funds for the establishment of a Black theater in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

You're right though. Snap, snap...time to get back to working on my kitchen. Smiley_emoticons_slash

I'd watch Titanic (again) before I watched Boyhood (again). I know Boyhood has been widely acclaimed but I found it extremely boring. Good luck with that.

Ah well. If I fall asleep during it, I'll just rewind and watch it in pieces I guess.

There are some movies I've ended up watching over and over when I come across them, but others that were supposed to be great movies, like Titanic, that I've just never gotten around to watching. Haven't seen Gladiator, or A Beautiful Mind, or Million Dollar Baby either -- they've all been on my list forever. I'm a slacker.

Yeah, I don't think we've got any of those theaters here and I've never seen them advertised. But, I just looked it up and there are quite a few across the country now; some independent ones and some chains.

AMC is one of our biggest theater chains. They've recently opened a few dinner theaters, I see. One of them is in California.

I'd probably rather still go to a restaurant first and then catch a movie, but the in-theater dinner and drinks deal is a cool idea and I hope it helps prevent walk-in movie theaters from going under. They've lost a lot of business since so many new releases became available on cable and on-line.

Drive-in theaters used to be kind of fun too. My parents took us to a drive-in theater all the time. My mom packed a cooler of munchies. I don't remember it specifically but I'm sure they were boozing it up while we were there. They'd back the old station wagon in and we'd watch from the rear under the comfort of blankets and pillows. Funny. I started thinking about drive-ins in this thread too.

I miss some of the good ol' days stuff.

I remember my dad wrestling with those stupid boxes. hah I seem to recall that at least 13 of them were always broken. It usually took us several turns in different parking spaces before we'd find one that actually worked. Good memories.

I've only just started watching movies in the last year or so. I love downloading them on my Kindle, plugging in the ear buds and watching and pausing at will. I refuse to watch Million Dollar Baby. I know enough about it that I know for fact that I'd be a sobbing/snotty mess. Kind of like I was when I watched Gran Torino. To make matters worse, Clint Eastwood totally reminds me of my dad. They looked very similar and when my dad was pissed, he made this same face:

He'd grit his teeth, pull up one side of his mouth and somehow magically talk out of just that one side of his mouth. You knew the shit was about to hit the fan when he started doing that. RUN!!!!!

That's what we did too. We even had the old station wagon with no seatbelts.

Same here, and nobody wore seatbelts back then. They were always stuck deep between the cushions of the seat. The only time I remember ever putting one on was when we were cleaning the car and I put it on just to see what it felt like.hah I also remember how badly my eyes burned by the end of the movie because my parents both smoked in the car with the windows up.

What are some movies you saw at the drive in? I distinctively remember seeing "Mohogany" with Dianne Summers (the first boobies I'd ever seen and man there was a lot of them in that movie!), "Blazing Saddles", "Smokey and the Bandit" and "Young Frankenstein."
