CUT & RUN: FUGITIVE FROM CIRCUMCISION
#41

I've never given any thought whatsoever to this before. If I were a parent I'd sure like to know if something from my child was being used to make money for someone else though.

If I had a male baby and was certain that I wanted him circumcised from the get-go, I wouldn't care if nobody told me that Oprah would be using his foreskin on her face for vanity purposes.

But, if I wasn't sure that I wanted him circumcised and was convinced or pushed to have it done by the false rhetoric of medical professionals looking to make an undisclosed buck off of my baby's foreskin, I'd be pissed off.

I know that some high-end topical anti-aging products contain placenta. I don't think it gets disclosed to mothers that their placenta might be sold to the cosmetic industries. I don't care at all about that whole enterprise because the placenta is just part of a natural by-product and the transaction doesn't involve an elective surgical procedure or informed choice like circumcision does.

I hear ya.

If Clang invites you to his annual 4th of July backyard weenie roast, just say no.

(Or bring your own salad or something.)

I probably shouldn't tell you that some mothers eat the placenta after giving birth...human mothers.

hah Love how you added...human mothers.

Yeah, I've read about them. Maybe it would make a difference if it were my own placenta. *shudders*

Considered a delicacy in certain parts of Maine, New Hampshire, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

So I've heard.

Lightning crashes a new mother cries
Her placenta falls to the floor
The angel opens her eyes
The confusion sets in
Before the doctor can even close the door

-Live, Throwing Copper, 1994

All this placenta talk you know.

Update

Heather Hironimus is still a fugitive. She has not come out of protected shelter with her son and won't agree to the court-ordered circumcision.

On Tuesday, the boy’s father, Dennis Nebus, filed a motion to prevent her from using money raised by Chase's Guardians ($37,000) to aid in her defense. The funds are currently held by Doctors Opposing Circumcision, a group of physicians who advocate for genital autonomy for males. Doctors Opposing Circumcision is a non-profit organization and funds donated by Chase’s Guardians are earmarked for the legal team.

A little more background uncovered:
Hironimus and Nebus were never married, but in 2012, Hironimus and Nebus signed a parenting agreement to have the child circumcised after he was diagnosed with phimosis, a condition that prevents the retraction of the foreskin. According to NHS, the condition is normal in babies and toddlers.

Eventually, the child’s condition resolved itself and Hironimus refused to consent to have Chase circumcised. Nebus is pushing for the circumcision which he considers the natural and normal thing. They'd been battling it out in court for over a year and a half before it all came to a head this month.

We had our son cut primarily because my husband was cut; I left it to him to decide. I think (as someone else has mentioned), it used to be just standard practice (at least here in the U.S.) and I went along with it out of some concern that my kid would get teased in the locker room (and/or run across a woman like Duchess one day).

Revolting to me (which I posted elsewhere) is that some orthodox Jewish Rabbi's suck the wound (which is raising some herpes concerns). Vomit.

In this case, I dunno...I realize there may not be a statute of limitations on something like that, but there should be. I'm sure it hurts the same but potentially much more traumatizing for a 3 year old.

If I were that mother though, I wouldn't have told my son "daddy wants to have your penis cut...what do you think, hon"? before resolving the issue legally. That kid is going to be fucked in the head--probably every time he has to go to the Dr. much less if he has to undergo the procedure. He probably has nightmares every night picturing bad men with knives coming at his dick. "He's aware of the procedure"...dumb bitch.

Does it affect a man's life one way or another if he is or isn't cut as a baby? I say as a baby because I just don't see any man willingly offering up his dick to be cut on, I just don't. It makes my thighs want to slam shut.

I understand there's a hygiene "extra step" that is required, some stuff that can build up in there like toejam. Wouldn't know, myself. Don't remember being cut and it doesn't seem to have affected me one way or another. I think people have way too much time on their hands to worry about shit like this. On the other hand, they kinda fucked up the GF's grandbaby so his is a little bit half-mangled. Not exactly there, not exactly gone.

Yeah good call on bringing your own salad, HOTD. I like to leave the skin on the potatoes when I make potato salad.

Circumcision has no practical purpose to it whether it be male or female. It was created by religions to make sex less pleasurable, the foreskin and the clitoris contain more nerve endings than any other part of the genitals.

To say its "normal" to ritually mutilate a babies genitals is just ker-razy.

Botched circumcisions aren't that uncommon here, it has even caused deaths. I imagine it would affect a man's life if the head of his penis rotted off when he was an infant.

I'd rather just teach my son how to wash his penis correctly than take that risk. It's no different than teaching them how to brush their teeth or wash behind their ears.

I saw that too. Disgusting. It's unbelievable that people still practice all of these absurd rituals. The whole world is insane.

Depends. My father insisted I be cut and so it was. My little brother (different father) was never cut. Chose to be cut when he turned 30, because there was a little more connective tissue on the bottom of his crank which made it really hard for him to keep clean. After dealing with 30 years of infected dickhead he took the plunge and contrary to Mr. Ninja's theory claims he hasn't lost any sensation at all. In fact, if he has a boy, he will have the boy cut as soon as possible.

Huh. It certainly makes one think to hear the story of an adult male, who chose to get cut and didn't somehow suddenly lose something sexually. I would feel more guilty about my son's circumcision if I thought it negatively affected him stimulation wise (although young guys are so horny...I don't know if that's really possible).
