. . . . . . . . Responsible for student's low Test Scores?
This subject has been open for debate for some time.
- Some advocate that teachers should be responsible for their student’s low test scores. Others, on the other hand, claim that pupils’ awareness and learning attitude affect their learning ability, and testing performance. I am inclined to lean towards the latter. WHAT SAY YOU? Do you feel teachers and school policies should be held accountable?

I don't know, Cars. I think that people should know personal responsibility and the younger kids are when they learn that the better off they will be.
You know what really sets my ass on fire, participation trophies. I rant every time I read about that bs.

Depends. In middle and high school I had some really good teachers and some really shitty ones. There are the teachers that will actually try to teach you something and the ones who just sit their fat ass in a chair and tell you to figure it out with the book. Mostly it comes down to personal responsibility, however. But there are plenty of sorry teachers out there, just like any profession.

My boss sometimes talks about those teachers and then will go on a rant about tenure. She thinks that's a horrible idea and makes for lazy teachers.

I don't think blame or credit regarding the quality of education can be placed on any one party or factor.
Parents who don't take any interest in their children's education can and do sometimes raise kids that love to learn and become great thinkers and problem solvers.
And, parents who put tons of pressure on their children to get good grades and pursue higher education sometimes raise kids who don't give a shit or who graduate high school with a strong ability to memorize and exploit shortcuts (rather than think and comprehend).
Likewise, children who currently only have access to poor quality teachers can excel academically if they're blessed with parents who have the time and interest to invest personally in supplementing their children's classroom education.
Anyway, in my opinion, regardless of parental involvement or the student's attitude/investment in their own education, every student should have the opportunity to get a good education from qualified teachers.
I think elementary and high school teachers should be paid better on a more uniform national scale and the cost of getting a teaching degree and credentials should be less prohibitive. Lazy and unqualified teachers could be weeded out more easily if there wasn't such a shortage of passionate people able/willing to pursue the profession.

I agree that they need to be paid more, way more and they shouldn't have to buy supplies with their own money either. I've read of teachers having to have a second job to supplement their teaching income because it isn't enough to live on.

If I was a teacher I would get out of that, become an administrator and get paid more plus you don't have to deal with all the snotty brats. It's not a noble cause or romantic invention anymore.

IMO, Teachers S/B paid commensurably with corporate employees, such as Engineers, Doctors, Lawyers, Scientists, Etc..
They should receive regular incentive raises when the majority of their class students excel in their year end grades.
(same as in the corporate world when employee's projects excel and succeed)
It was the "Teachers" who gave the Engineers, Doctors, Lawyers, Scientists, Etc. their initial education, so as for them to
continue on to their desired careers.
If teachers were revered, and paid accordingly with the outside world, life would be better for all involved.
(Unfortunately, there will always be some students who will not succeed in their studies, for whatever reason of their own.

I don't think I could handle that. I've seen some of those little bastards out in public and there is not one damn thing about them that is likable. I don't want to have to treat asshole kids kindly.

Why Yes it does, BUT, the Teachers don't get paid for that time off.
So either they have to set aside money while working those 10 months, and or some even take a summer job!
