I find it baffling and reprehensible that any Catholic facility would allow itself to be so egregiously misused and manipulated in a fashion that violates our religious principles, which call us to defend the rights of all people even those with whom we might disagree. Saint Pope John Paul II was an ardent defender of the rights and dignity of human beings. His legacy bears vivid witness to that truth. He certainly would not condone the use of tear gas and other deterrents to silence, scatter or intimidate them for a photo opportunity in front of a place of worship and peace.

There will come a point when the cops will just step aside and let the rioters have their way. With politicians berating the police for dealing with rioters in an aggressive way and rioters tossing bricks and bottles at the police, if I was a cop I would just walk away from it. 

I believe rioters should be shot and peaceful protest should be organized and peaceful. This is ridiculous. stores should just pack it in, move get out of un worthy neighborhoods.

I really don’t know how to explain this but I’m watching on television exactly what I saw happen in my neighborhood last night. Police are NOT making any attempts to protect businesses or stop looters and those causing property damage. I’m witnessing this with my own eyes.
Police are posted in a formation as if awaiting to be deployed but they are staying in formation literally watching/allowing it to happen. I truly feel this intentional and part of some type of strategy.
Even last night when the curfew hit they began catching looters as they exited businesses but suddenly retreated back to the staging area and remained there until they did neighborhood sweeps block by block around 11pm or 12am.
The entire time these looters were working in an organized matter, cars lining up like an Uber wait area, ppl jumping out looting the business then running back to their waiting car and driver.
I TRULY hope this isn’t intentional so that the world sees this and confuses these opportunist and criminals with the peaceful protestors whose sole purpose is to have a peaceful demonstration.
I just don’t know but please, while it’s absolutely horrible, upsetting and just wrong, don’t let these opportunist take away from those legally and peacefully trying to send a message of change in law enforcement, systematic racism, a corrupt justice system and justice for George Floyd and ALL those whose lives have been taken by police with no accountability.
I love seeing people of all races coming together and uniting BUT it’s supposed to be to fight for justice not start a united criminal organization.

Bishop Mariann Budde said the president used a bible and one of the churches in her diocese without her permission as a backdrop for a message antithetical  to the teachings of Jesus and everything her churches stand for. trump didn't pray, he didn't go into the church, he didn't offer any words of comfort. He had his people use force through rubber bullets & teargas to not only clear a path to the church but his people went on to clear the church's patio of clergy and others who were there handing out water and helping those who had been gassed.

I didn't read the article, I listened to her speak. She was mostly concerned about Trump not praying or whatever and the protesters getting a little message that they were about to break the curfew which was put there so her stupid church doesn't get burnt to the ground the next time.
