What really annoyed the hell out of you today?
I went to open house the other night. I was waiting to talk to the teacher and the mother ahead of me was telling her she couldn't afford the supplies for her kid. It made me feel like shit for her and her daughter. It is the first week of the month. I feel badly for people who are broke already. :( It had to have sucked to say that out loud and to have to tell your kid they can't have all the new stuff for school. I sent in a few extras with my kid, but that doesn't make up for someone else not being able to buy stupid notebooks and crayons. I almost cried like an idiot.

When I'm out of the house, I get my errands done as quickly as possible. If I pay too much attention to other people, I always see things that make me sad. The poor people ARE NOT doing better in this economy. Neither is the middle class. Someone is telling fucking lies.

that made me feel awful too Cracker. i can imagine how it feels to kids not to have the popular new school stuff that others may have. it's very important to them. i don't mean phones and ipads. shit, now i want to cry. does the PTA help with that?

Most kids borrow from other kids or the teacher slides them a few things. It's embarrassing for a kid to get called into the counselor's office and come out with a new bookbag and supplies.

The supply list had over 40 items on it. Instead of asking for all that up front, the teacher could have thought it out a little better and asked for stuff a little at a time.

How hard is life for people who don't have $20 for school supplies? (I actually spent over $60 on pencils and art supplies and crap, but I let the little one pick.)

That lady just upset me because her face was red and she apologized and her daughter heard and she knew I heard. She didn't make her daughter explain to the teacher why she didn't have supplies the first day. She went in there and did it herself.

I hope that teacher felt bad for asking for so much that some people couldn't afford it. You have to think about stuff like that when you work with kids.

I always consider my clients at my job. If I don't already have it or I can't afford to buy enough for everyone, I don't ask for it. I also tell them where to get the best deals on stuff they do have to have. It irritates my boss, but I don't give a shit. I never forget where I came from. I would never make someone apologize to me for not having enough money. Some people just don't think.

OK, now I'm back to pissed.

I just went through the bookbag to sign whatever shit they want signed and I found a brochure for, fucking get this shit:

If you get free lunch, you get Comcast cable for 9.95 a month, never a price increase, a computer for $149. What the fuck? Offer it to ALL THE KIDS or none.

If you poor people are interested, here's the phone number: 1-855-8-INTERNET or visit InternetEssentials.com

Mutherfuckers. My broadband is over $60 a month. Dirty bastards.

I have no reason to doubt this mother. It's sad that I feel the need to state that publicly.

This is one of the reasons I made a conscious lifestyle decision to engage in social entrepreneurship. It is also why I have strong convictions that the private sector, versus the government, should fill the void and provide comfort to our fellows.

Maybe it's my belief in Uncle Milty rather than Krebs economics that fuels my convictions.

Damn your private sector and philanthropic organizations, Cracker!

Some people were raised not to accept charity. I honestly don't know that I could if I were in that position.

Could you? I bet not.

I'd hope not to confuse pride with false-pride.

I'd do anything for the health and safety of my child. Now, I try and do for others.

I don't mind giving to people who cross my path, but I'm the first one to bitch when the government takes my money to give to people I don't know. I wonder why that is.

If we all took care of the people in our little corner of the world, the government could fuck off. I know most people were raised to take care of their family and friends. That's why I don't understand why there are so many people living off the government. It's because they can. If they couldn't, we would all have to take better care of each other.

I wish they would track the money and make the receivers aware of who is feeding them. Maybe that would make people more honest. They should send a note: "Because we had to take taxes out of Mrs. X's paycheck to pay for your sorry ass, she couldn't buy her own daughter school supplies. Enjoy your day."

Go ahead . . . blame Michael for this one!

Somehow, it will be his fault.

aug 9, 2011, this may change on a different day , but today it's annoying.
