Zahra Baker, a murdered child
Hi Everyone...I have been following the Zahra Baker case sinse it started, imo I think they killed her put her body through the shredder then burned the remains.
What makes me so angry and I feel that laws needs to be changed that if a child is being abused and no one reports it or does nothing about it they should be charged and sentenced along with the abuser. I feel her neighbors and family members who knew this was going on should be charged with this.
And can not understand why the father is not being charged at this time what parent does not check on their child within a 12 hour period sorry but no way do I buy his lines hes into this up to his neck.
As for Brandon Greeson I hope and pray no one gives this foundation any money for Zahras funds.
I am just wondering if they werent following Kyron's case and saw where the funds were at 85,000 and figured they might be able to do the same in this case
I also wouldnt put it past Brandon being involved in this and it makes me sick that he is trying to gain money through this little girl

welcome to Mock Jasmine~~
thanks for your comments.

i do want to confine comments about the Rev. to the Rev. thread please.Smiley_emoticons_wink it almost derailed this thread for Zahra.

http://mockforums.net/t-the-rev-thread

i think adam has not been arrested because they are using him, watching him and hoping to gain his ultimate cooperation in order to save his worthless ass. why bother arresting him on petty warrants so he lawyers-up, when they have more to gain by letting him feel safe...and turn on the wife.
some people DID report abuse of Zahra. DSS has to account for that investigation in time and appropriate venue (court).
and only people mandated to report can be prosecuted for not doing so. not moral mandate, but legal one.

again, welcome!

I know there are a lot of theories going around, but where do you guys think the body really is? I mean what shot do they really have of finding her body if these two turds don't fess up. There are just countless places they could have stashed it. My guess is they just want enough evidence to prove her death by one or both of them.

IF they can prove the child is dead, they will go for joint venture in the murder. so both could be eligible for death penalty.
i think they are hoping the stepbitch gets so scared she rolls over on daddy and throws him to the wolves...she will try to bargain to take death penalty off the table. OR do it the other way around...get him to turn on her.
IF the child was disposed of with wood-chipper, they could still find small bone and teeth fragments. enough to declare her deceased. they aren't using that heavy equipment in the delicate search for a body.
i doubt there is an intact body anywhere.

Been following this case also since day 1. It haunts me everyday since I work 3 blocks from the home where the fire occurred. Makes me want to leave my office exactly at 5 each day because I have no clue what evil is just beyond the trees..........

Thanks LC! My Mom worked as a deputy and retired as a LT at a neighboring county SD until 8 years ago. She has investigated and been around the evil out here as her speciality was juvenile abuse. The stories she has told me have made me doubt that mankind will last much longer. Parents should protect their children, not kill them :-(. Great board!

Problem is that the DA here is a serious joke and he has lost several capitol cases before. The court appointed attorney that the stepwitch was appointed has made a mockery of this DA many, many times. No way that his appointment to her case was random as is supposed to be. There is no public defender's office here. There is supposed to be a draft of all attorneys in the area. Her Attorney will get every piece of evidence outside the home thrown out. He will also claim contamination, and win, with any evidence obtained from the trash dump. 1200 tons of trash go to this dump daily and HPD took 7 days before searching there and will only search there during "open hours".

HPD went to this house of horrors and read a ransom note in a vehicle while a supposed arson crime went on in the back yard. They didn't check the house, they didn't even ask if there was a child in the house. Alisa Baker may actually walk on this unless a body is found.

You are absolutely correct Salty. HPD and the rest here are grasping at straws. If you only view this online or via the media you may think that this is a coordinated search. Actually, the wood chipper is 20 miles from the house, the pond that was drained is 15 miles from the house. The dump is about 17 miles from the house. The small river town that has been searched is about 5 miles from the house. The police have no clue what happened, they are questioning people that employ people that used to hang out in a house that the stepwitch went to several years ago. They have no clue and played themselves into the hands of these two by investigating an arson call and doing nothing but. That was only a time line entry by these two. In other words, we didn't kill Zahra or let her die from neglect. Someone kidnapped her instead of my bosses daughter. The line in the note that we will come after your pot-head son next is a red herring. We started a fire to get cops here the night before to establish a "she was here then" time line is weak but smart on their part. Seriously from all I understand about the case, I don't think they actually murdered the girl. I think that due to neglect and doping her that Zahra expired. The Stepwitch had beat her, they had sedated her and she died in her bed. They knew she was dead to begin with and tried to cash in on it by posting the ransom note. These people are not smart... just lucky that HPD wasn't looking for a homicide. They started the fire on purpose. Her 911 fire call said basically that my husband works for a lumber company and we have piles of wood and stuff in our backyard. They weren't disposing of evidence in the fire. It was a diversion from the real crime of their neglect. The mattress from the home and any mattress from the dump or the prosthetic from the dump will tell the story. Don't bank on this D.A. here though for a conviction.

Not a lot of faith in the DA, there lawnranger. He has already committed himself to making this a priority. He showed up with a pile of evidence for the bond hearing. Surely you don't think he'd drop the ball? Not this close to election day.

gothicfairybitch may have a new attny. on the team, Lisa Dubs. here is her website:

http://www.dubslawfirm.embarqspace.com/

interesting areas of expertise... such as arson, false confessions, cadaver dog experts, forensic psychology etc. she seems to concentrate on finding the "right" experts (i.e. paid gunslingers for the defense) for her clients.
it's the "baffle-them-with-bullshit defense tactic.

how did this turn out? anyone know? case name?
2008: In February 2008 Ms. Dubs finished trying the first degree murder trial of a Cabarrus County woman who was charged with the the murders of her her two children and the arson of her own home.

How is she financially able to do this? They have been in trouble for writing bad checks, that implies having no money. A defense team such as the one that appears to be gathering is VERY costly.

there is no public defenders office from what i understand. so the court appoints OR more likely the lawyers do it pro bono for the free publicity in a high-profile case like this.

to recap----a good overview of the bakers' history, from Hickory Record.
the running theme is money and failure to appear. not to mention ADW (a vehicle).

Zahra Baker’s father and stepmother, Adam and Elisa, have an extensive criminal history and the majority of the charges currently pending against them are tied to money problems. Charges were filed, arrests were made and the Bakers established a pattern of not showing up for their court dates.

A criminal records check in Catawba and Caldwell counties revealed that the couple is facing a combined total of 18 charges of writing bad checks worth a combined $2,054.58. All but one of the checks were written at area grocery stores. The remaining check, written for $595, was for back rent, said the Bakers’ former landlord Mark Sims.

Sims said the Bakers rented a singlewide mobile home in Country Manor Estates in Hudson. He charged $115 per week, according to court documents accompanying the eviction notice he served on Adam Baker in December 2009. Baker owed $1,114 in back rent.

Three months later, Sims filed an eviction notice against Elisa Baker, who owed $1,612 in back rent.

Sims was unclear on the circumstances surrounding the Bakers’ evictions and said he couldn’t remember why two separate eviction notices were served on them.

Sims said he didn’t speak to the Bakers often, but when he did they were polite. When he called Baker to tell her she was late on her rent, “She said, ‘I will bring you by a check today,’ and she brought one by,” Sims said. When the $595 check bounced, she apologized and brought Sims a cash payment for part of what she owed.

“She was never angry with me,” he said.

Her teenage neighbors remember her differently.

Corrine Yount, 15, and her friend Brandy Hefner, 16, took out an arrest warrant on Baker for communicating threats on May 23, 2010.

Yount said the incident began when she and her friend noticed Zahra crying as she walked up a steep hill behind her house.

“She was making Zahra walk up the hill by herself because that’s how she would punish her because she (Elisa) knew it would hurt Zahra’s leg,” Yount said.

Baker came out of her trailer and started screaming and threatening the girls.

“She said, ‘I’m going to teach these two teenagers a lesson and whip their butts,’” Yount said.

Baker continued to shout threats until Hefner’s mother came out of the house and asked what was going on and Baker left, according to the arrest warrant.
Yount said she spoke to Zahra a few times and saw that she was a very sweet girl. She also said people in the neighborhood knew Baker was abusive to Zahra and they tried to get law enforcement involved.

“You could hear Zahra screaming and Elisa yelling at her, so we would call the police,” Yount said. “We called DSS (the Caldwell County Department of Social Services) on her too, but they never did anything.”

Adam and Elisa Baker were arrested for communicating threats against their family members too.

They were arrested on May 22, 2010 and charged with communicating threats against Elisa’s niece Brittany Bentley, her fiancé Zackery Tyler and the couple’s 7-month-old daughter. The threats stemmed from an outstanding debt Bentley owed them, according to the arrest warrant.
drug debt?

“He (Adam Baker) chased me and my fiancée. He literally tried to run us off the road twice,” wrote Tyler in the complaint accompanying the warrant. “He got in the opposite lane, swerved at the driver’s side and we had to swerve to keep from getting hit, then he passed us and slammed his brakes. We had to slam our brakes and still almost hit him.”

The couple went home and gave Baker the money she was owed, but she demanded more. She and Adam threatened the couple with Tasers, according to the arrest warrant.

“They said they would kill me and Brittany Bentley and that they knew where our daughter was and they would kill her if I didn’t pay her,” Tyler wrote.

Bentley’s complaint is similar but provides additional detail.

“Then she went to my mom’s where my daughter was with a supposed gun after she threatened to kill my daughter,” Brittany wrote. “I fear for mine and my daughter’s and fiance’s life.”

The Bakers were charged with communicating threats as a result of the incident. Adam was also charged with assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly trying to run the couple off the road.

In March 2010, the Bakers were arrested and charged for failing to return a laptop computer, a 42-inch Zenith television, a stereo and a living room suite worth $2,411.69, according to court documents. The couple had rented the furniture and electronics from Bestway Rent to Own in Lenoir.

On the rental application Baker filled out she lists her occupation as “disabled” and her monthly income as $591.

As with the above charges, the Bakers failed to appear at their scheduled court date on June 30, 2010.

If these were just people down on their luck, I would feel sorry for them. Two grand isn't much money & I'd be tempted to buy them groceries. BUT, they are rotten fucks & I wish them nothing but misery.
