Such as, their age can work against them, there may be other social factors, low socioeconomic status can impact on their prospects. I guess the reason your government is extending unemployment benefits is that they have ascertained that there is a need within your community and people are desperate. Especially with the economic downturn it has impacted people on all levels of your society. There should be programs supporting people trying to get them back to work, but don't just heartlessly throw them out on the street. Otherwise it just comes accross as uniformed rightwing bigotry.

Ding, ding, ding, ding. Bullshit, when a person makes a certain amount of money they learn to live with that amount and get by. If they HAD to get out and work they would be picking apples, washing cars, bailing hay, slopping pigs etc. Government may be able to suppliment them through housing and food but they would at least be productive and contributing towards their supplimental housing food etc. Go ahead give any welfare slob a drug test and see how much money they do have. If you are getting paid by the government you should at least be able to take the drug test like any employee. Employment is out there just not the same amount of weekly wages a person may be used to. If they are getting paid the same amount they would make gainfully employed what is the incentive? I say ween them off the welfare tit before they "slip" on a banana peel and become a liability.

werent you hugged enough as a child?

I don't want to give the impression that I am left wing or right wing. Because I really think I am neither. I have views on both sides of the fence. But regarding this issue I don't think it is liberal to say to a society to provide for less fortunate in their country if they have the resources.

Sometimes I think its really trendy and easier to hate than to come up with a reasonable informed educated decision that makes sense. You can't just hate people and that be the status quo. You then create a whole lot of new problems such as increased crime, social predjudice, maybe increased abortion. I mean who knows how many peoples lives could get ruined. Suicide rate might go up. The list goes on and on.

Thats not true at all. I didn't say I don't know, I said I am neither. Because I have views that are on both sides which I agree and disagree with. Just because I don't want to be like Ann Coulter dosent make me left wing. When you approach an issue you have to look at the big picture to come up with solutions.

Therein lies the problem. I'm all for helping the genuinely needy. We have generations of people on welfare here, people that are too lazy to go out & seek employment, they are satisfied with the status quo, they have no drive/ambition, they continue to have children they can't feed, house or clothe, who the hell has children they can't raise? Tards do. They shouldn't be allowed to breed, I want them all spayed/neutered. I don't want my tax dollars helping those people.

Work hard America ~ Those on welfare are depending on you.

We have that here too. But we have conditions such as signing up with Job Network Providers and conditions in which they get their benefits. We also have a system that if they are non compliant in what is required of them they are then cut off or suspended in their payments. Also we have a program called "work for the dole" in which after a person is unemployed after a period of time they have to go and work somewhere in order to keep them in touch with being out there in the workforce. They might have to do some landscape gardening or work in a charity store something of that nature. There is also a huge push towards training programs such as apprenticeships for young people etc.

We have people here who not only also do not want to work but defraud the system. When they get caught they end of on jail and usually on a current affairs program disgraced.

Social problems such as unemployed needs to be addressed by a balanced informed decision. Not just cutting someone off because thats the rule. There could be family issues all sorts of circumstances that compound any individual situation.

I have worked in the middle east where there is no welfare, no domestic violence shelters, cruelty to animals, no aged care facilities and there are cripples and beggars in the streets. Desperate situations. We are so blessed we don't want to end up like them.

I am for helping people in need. That does not make me right wing.

The simplest statement I could make would be that I'd gladly help anyone who helped themselves. How's that? I don't think you fully understand just how many people I would then be able to disregard if I were allowed that one rule in how MY MONEY was spent. I have no say in how my tax dollars are spent. I hate that fat assed, lazy, uneducated people are entitled to money I worked for, I hate it, I begrudge them every single penny. Fuck them. I just don't care if they don't have food or a roof over their head. They made their bed with choices they made the same way I did. I don't ask anyone for anything & I expect the same from others.

I completely 100% agree with everything you have said there. I have seen that here too. Where, people are living off government benefits and spending their days playing pool and drinking beer or at the beach. Its not right. Its not what that system is there for. There definately needs to be accountability.

I think also with the US you guys have a huge huge deficit, so really if you can't afford it then you have no choice you have to "trim the fat" on government spending. You guys have a huge population which would be harder to cater for people who will inevitably endevour to exploit the system. That's I guess what gets people so angry and then everyone suffers. Its certainly good to talk about these things and thats how you come up with solutions.

I am a christian! I am definately not far left. A lot of christians in your community and mine help others less fortunate because they have compassion on them and don't judge them. I try to apply that in my job as well.

If I was left wing, I would embrace it and say it loudly same with right wing.

somewhat off-topic, but speaking of needy...i have a question. why would a seemingly able-bodied man with a live-in girlfriend and new baby live in HUD housing? what are the criteria? this is in reference to the father of the missing Texas girl. i don't know anything about HUD housing and don't feel like wading through a lot of google crap.

what is 'HUD' housing? is it government housing? I assume after watching many Judge Judy shows the reason they are not married is so that they can claim benefits.
