Johnny S. Clarke & Lisa Straub- young Ohio couple murdered
i think we are all going to be speculating until LE says something. Police

My general impression, based very damn little, is that Lisa came from a nice background and Johhny came from the kind of environment that caring parents try to make sure their kids never get mixed up with.

Nearly all kids screw up, get in trouble, are exposed to smoking weed and drinking when with friends or at parties. Many smoke cigarettes . Those things mean next to nothing because they are part of American culture and widely accepted (no matter what the anti marijuana crowd would like to believe). Caring, responsible parents, when they catch their kids doing this stuff, don't condone it and don't encourage it. I did stuff at that age that my parents would have had a heart attack over. I would have been big trouble if they had found out. As a parent, you pray that your kid isn't one of the ones who pays a terrible price for the kinds of things that kids do when they're young and make stupid decisions - like drinking and driving. Most kids get second chances and live to look back on those days and know they are lucky to have emerged unscathed. Lisa didn't get that second chance. I have the feeling that Lisa probably came from an environment where criminal records and prison were not the norm and would not have been condoned. Johhny, OTOH, probably compared rap sheets with his mother.

I don't usually watch Nancy Grace/HLN (HLN is the old CNN Headline News, for the person who asked), but I'll try to catch the re-run. How very interesting that this woman is now trying to pin the blame on Lisa's social circle, painting Johhny as some innocent kid.

Her FB postings strike me as putting on a show for everyone watching. WTF kind of person finds time for FB when their child has been murdered?

Any candle, balloons, cards, stuffed animals and flower memorials appearing for these kids anywhere in their town?

Hey BlueTiki,
I'm curious- I've seen that you have interest in public vigils and teddy bear/balloon memorial info, why?
Does it have anything to do with perps showing up at these sorts of things?

Do you have cable TV? If so, you probably have HLN.

haven't seen memorials around town, drove by the house today.....driveway shovelled(we've had 13 inches of snow in the last 5 days), everything looks normal, no one would ever know the horror that happened there just a few days ago

Not so, he was not in that much trouble, we knew the family very well, he loved his brothers and parents alot, he took the wrong path as he was older, easy way out, but now we all see that isnt so, this is horrible, he was no saint but he was not a a gangster either. His mother, sure did go threw some issues as so did his father, however that was his surroundings, lets face it, the southside of toledo oho is no place to raise a family, I lived on the southside for over 20 years and everyone knows the area is now drugs, gangs and everyone is broke, so this could have been any of us in the wrong place at the wrong time really does not matter to much about what we all do or did, bottom line he was all around it, rather it was going to krogers or to nettys for a ice cream, around there you have to keep fear. Really it was most likely someone that wanted something he had, the police are not diggin deep enough. Friends are the worst to have and when this is all said and done it will most likely be someone they both were close to. Prayer to his and her family the love of a child lost will effect all who knew and loved them.

The Nancy Grace Show will be re-aired at midnight EST.
Could you listen carefully to the mom and see if she uses the
phrase 'he was in there dead' in relation to when she was
outside? And check the 'tense' and see if you get any
funny feeling about it.

When tragedy strikes, especially horrific and unexpected tragedies, there is usually a bonding moment allowing the community to come together as a whole. Memorials assist in this "wholeness".

If the victims are innocents, well-loved or widely respected, the more lavish the display(s).

As to perps showing up . . . I'd wager they visit internet sites before physical memorials.

So . . . if no memorials, what statement does that make about the community or the victims?

I also agree with LT_RN, she needs to stop with the attention seeking and grieve with her family, including the two sons she repeatedly speaks of. I'm sure they could use their mother's comfort instead of having her sit on FB all day.

I hate to come across as a hard-ass, but I agree!

I haven't seen that...Local news site, I gather??

eta ... I see it was HLN

Where should the memorials be set up? On the Straubs front porch? I see memorials from time to time around here, usually for people killed in car accidents. I wouldn't know where to leave a memorial in this case & I certainly wouldn't feel comfortable invading the Straubs neighborhood or home. I don't feel like the lack of memorials have to do with how people feel about the victims but rather, JC & LS were killed at their home in the suburbs.

I missed it, but will watch the repeat, so yes, I'll listen for that.

Hmmmm . . . let's see.

Did they attend school? How 'bout there?

Involved in charities? There's a spot.

Employed? Gee . . . a no brainer.

Does LE need a friendly reminder that the community has not forgotten the victims? Near the police station or court house!

News outlets not pushing hard enough for details? Here we go!

Does anyone in the town REALLY care enough to do something instead of rehashing "T this" and "Mom that".

Better yet . . . ask yourself: "If this is my loved one, what would I do?"

Now go "do it".

In addition to Johnny's mother being a whackjob and likely under the influence (Rx or not), maybe some of her behavior can be attributed to feeling guilty about the way he was raised and how that contributed to his death.

Or maybe she doesn't even see the connection, I don't know.

Someone has been taking care of it for them. I live in the neighborhood and when I drove by Friday night, the driveway was shoveled and all the lights were off. Then when I drove by again Saturday during the snowstorm someone was there shoveling the driveway again. I noticed that there were a couple cars covered in snow in their driveway, along with another car in the garage.
