This is a totally amazing interview by Jane.
The mother says she (mother) knew how to get into the house
"i watched them take the key in and out of a box (to open the house)

Exact quotes:
"Johnny was in barber school."
"Whoever did this was trying to make a statement of some sort."
"Lisa had a very jealous x boyfriend."
"Lisa's boyfriend was in prison for robbery and just got out a couple months
ago." (Yet she refused to speak of her son's prison record.
"My son had no enemies. Lisa would have more connected to this than my son would. Someone knew her and knew how to get into the house."
(Remember, she had earlier said that she had watched them use the key
on many occasions. Why was she at Lisa's house?"
"The girl met us out there." (The telephone girl.)
"The second time I went out there..." (Mom had been at the house twice.)

One real real freaky thing was the photos shown on the page were ALL
of MOM and SON. P

I just suffered through an entire hour of Nancy Grace, albeit in the background while I was doing other things, and this interview was (apparently) on Jane Valez Mitchell!

Well, these are some very interesting revelations. Indeed, why in the hell would this women have ever been to the Straubs' home and witnessed where a key was kept? Maybe that's the key found under Lisa's body - the house key. And, she was there was TWO times? I wonder if it was that night or if the other time was another day - like when she learned where the key was kept.

I agree. Very interesting. Two hours till JVM's repeat. I'm going to get some laundry started, so I can stay awake, I guess.
did johnny own a car? if he did not that would explain why she been to the house giving johnny a ride?

Just curious about anyones opinions on a possible motive for why Maytee would be involved in her son & Lisas murder?

As for the key to the garage & why, if she knew where it was located, she didn't use it..... Maybe it wasn't there? Maybe the perps used the key to gain entry? took it with them? or is that the key found under Lisa? Just some thoughts.......

I don't personally think she is involved in the murder, however I think she knows more information than she's leading on. IMO she knows way more about the Straub's home than any normal mother of a boyfriend would know.

The whole thing with the key. I still can't determine if the garage door was open or closed when Maytee and her husband arrived at the house. If it was closed, they wouldn't have had access to the key.

i don't think that. i just think she's a loon. hyper-emotional and drugged. even inappropriate. but if one of my sons were murdered, they'd have to bury me with him.

Catching up from a good nite's sleep. Yes, there was a candle vigil for a few days following the murder, but then Toledo got dumped with snow on Tuesday Night/Wednesday and again this past Saturday, so there is no longer a memorial. As for the benefit for Johnny, it just strikes me that his name is the only one mentioned, two young people lost their lives, why not at least mention Lisa's name (although I know its about money, and apparently Lisa's family is taking care of her). And as for keeping Lisa's ceremony private, I did not think this could happen, unless it was to not take place in a funeral home.

I happen to have a friend who works at a funeral home and he has informed me that all funerals are private unless the family decides to make announcements. The family can include/exclude whoever they choose.

I don't think JC's mother should be laying the blame at Lisa's feet. Look we all pretty much know what was going on there, someone was selling drugs - baggies, scales... Lisa and Johnny were having people coming and going, dropping by playing pool, hanging out, usual young adult stuff when they have a whole house to themselves without the worry of parents popping in, so what happened? I say ask Tiffany not Johnny's mother (even if she knew where the key was, so what? Apparently a lot of people probably knew where that key was, wanna bet? Nobody answered me, but I found it on the transcripts on NG, it was Johnny's father that said: "they planned it. They planned it because they went to that house with tape and bags. I hope and pray the cops find them before I do!" So, the killers brought the plastic bags and duct tape with them! Whoever did this they premeditated what they were going to do. I also heard another version of what Johnny said before he dropped the phone and I believe it was the mother who said it on the Today Show with Meredith Vieira: Johnny's mother said Johnny said something like "Hey bro, what are you doing here, what do you want and then who are you? that tells me he recognized one of the killers, wondered why he was there and who was the "stranger" he brought with him and what did they want? I could be wrong but when I heard the mother say that,, and they always say that "the devil is in the details" ...One of the killers was known to both of them and Tiffany knows who that is, that's what I believe...and they went there to murder this couple and look for some stash of drugs that they believed was there...JMO

It is at a funeral home. They are trying to keep the press and quite frankly JC's family at an arms length. They want this day to be about Lisa and those that knew/loved her and not turn it into a media circus. the graveside burial is private and they are requesting family only. Her family really does not want anything to do with his family right now.

This leaves me wondering how they KNOW they brought the bags and tape? I meant hose are pretty standard household items. If you went to my house right now, we have both. Without interviewing the Straubs, how would they know for sure the killers brought those items?

hi! I'm new here...been reading the pages over the last couple of days... I live in Maumee Ohio (suburb of Toledo), right down the road from where the kids were murdered... this case has me so puzzled... glad to see everyone elses's thoughts/ideas/opinions! I just have a couple of thoughts... this is a very nice neighborhood, not brand new houses, but a nice established neighborhood, and in neighborhoods like that in the good ol' midwest..neighbors talk, and hear and SEE! I think one crucial piece here is what kind of information the neighbors have/are/will provide to LE.(of course we're not privy to that info!) the other thing....not to speak ill about the Clarke family...but having a "benefit" at JAX bar? really? it's a college bar, right next to UT (univ. of TOledo!) and if you're from the area..you'll understand that it's just bizarre. Jax is a college hangout. wierd to me. IMO! and finally... does anyone know what type of work Mr. Straub does? Lisa's father.... or what the security papers were that were taken from her house?

oh and one more thought....does anyone out there reading this know, or have any idea, as to what the relationship was between the Clarke's and the Straub's ??

I do know what both Lisa's parents do for a living and I am not comfortable sharing that here. I will say they are good hard working people.

i'm going to reiterate what i said many pages ago at the start.

the bags and tape were weapons of opportunity. no murderers carry bags around. and 'pros' would use a fast method, a gun. these murders were personal.
secondly...i think Tiffany's phone calls were big fat red herrings.

ok, I was just wondering, I would completely assume that they are upper-middle class, high functioning, contributing members of society...I was just wondering what kind of work they were into.

Hello Everyone Smiley_emoticons_smile I've been reading for a few days and stumbled upon and interesting comment on this story in aol and someone made an interesting comment about the key ....."The numbered key ID's the assasin so he gets paid. Kind of like the ace of spades in the movies." I wonder what others think of this

LOL, Lady Cop! But that's not nice that's plagiarism!

I don't believe it was a "hit" either Lady Cop, I believe it was personal, and asphyxiation is a horrible way to die (and not the chosen method of professionial hits) you have to be one sicko to asphyxiate someone, a real sadist. I just pray they were knocked out before the bags were placed over their heads, that's just horrible! Maybe the scene was even made to look like it was about drugs(ie baggies and scales laying around) I say somebody needs to crack Tiffany sooner rather than later, and if this happened at 11pm like she said, she had at least 2 hrs to conjure up the who are you and what do you want story, before she contacted the other friend who contacted JC's mother! I don't think the key was any message, I think it got dropped there during the chaos that must have ensued while trying to subdue JC and LS, but I do believe that there were 2 people.

JC's father did think that the tape and plastic bags were brought there, I don't know why, that's just what he said on NG and I don't know what made him think that either?

Do any of you that are close with the families know if Tiffany has been interviewed or questioned?

Heroes

My li'l sis. She's a frickin awesome girl... I wish I was a little bit more like her; and she wishes she was a little bit more like me. Smiley_emoticons_razz..

Reading her webpage is heartbreaking. The sister sounds like a normal, healthy-minded, intelligent young woman, from which I would guess that her younger sister Lisa was too.

Why in the world would kids like this want to associate with trashy "gangsta" characters like these others?

Yes, I think I know but it is still senseless and makes this even more tragic.
