Johnny S. Clarke & Lisa Straub- young Ohio couple murdered
I think if I heard the story correct in the case of the "Shoe rapist" he was caught because of his sister getting arrested for DUI. Her DNA was taken and that showed there were similarities within her DNA to the suspect. Hence he was arrested and charged.

So if the suspects stay out of trouble it is still possible to be caught through a family members DNA.

LC - have I got this right?

they used familial DNA for close matches. but no 2 people have the exact same DNA. (except identical twins) i do not forsee in this case everybody in the area being randomly ordered to give DNA samples to see if they might be related to a killer.

the News13 article:

i wouldn't say it's been in the "headlines". i hope the reward tweaks someone out there.

A murder victim's family wants to keep the case in the headlines. That's why family members of Lisa Straub are talking to the media.

13abc spoke with Straub's uncle on the phone. He says the family wants answers and the reward for whoever has them is growing. The reward fund is up to $25,000 for any tips leading to the arrest of the killer, or killers.

Back on January 31, Lisa Straub, 20, and her boyfriend Johnny Clark, 20, were both found murdered inside Straub's family home on Longacre Lane. The two had been tied up with bags over their heads.

At this point no one has been arrested or charged in connection with this case. Family members are asking for your help as they don't want this case to go cold.

If you know anything about this crime, call Crime Stopper at 419-255-1111.

ROSSOFRD, OH (WTOL) - There's new hope in solving the double murder of a young Springfield Township couple.

The family of victim Lisa Straub has set up a special tip line hoping an arrest will be made in the case.

Her uncle, Jim Verbosky, says the family trusts the investigation that continues by the Lucas County Sheriff's Department. But they're frustrated there hasn't been much movement in the case.

Any new information generated by the new tip line will be passed along to the Sheriff's Department.

"Somebody talked and somebody is scared to come forward with information. But there definitely is somebody out there that has information that could solve this case," says Verbosky.

Johnny Clarke, 21, and Lisa Straub, 20, were found dead inside the home of Lisa's parents on January 31 in Springfield Township. The two had their wrists bound by duct tape and plastic bags covering their heads.

Authorities say this was not a random act of violence and that Johnny and Lisa were targeted. Robbery is believed to be the motive.

"They weren't just killed. Somebody put their hands around their neck and they died instantly. They struggled for their last breath. Somebody out there strangled them to death," Verbosky said.

The tip line number is 419-669-5246.

I am so glad to hear Mr. & Mrs. Straub are pleading for information from the public in the murders of Lisa and Johnny - I think reaching out may help their plight! Sonny123 mentioned awhile ago this case needed more and more new media attention possibly Americas Most Wanted! Then WolfHouse mentioned the Straub's possibly hiring a Private Investigator with some of the money raised at TGI Fridays, I agreed with these Mockers! definately do something to keep the case alive - so I think this was a grand move by the Straub's and I hope and pray they get some results!

The phone number given to call with any tips on the case any information at all that would help was 419 669 5246 this was a Weston, Ohio area phone number thats south of Bowling Green, Ohio a little and west - found that a bit interesting!

Is it Mr. Z? The video from WTVG Channel 13 - there is a photograph card on the table if you can pause it when it zooms in on the picture of Johnny and Lisa with Gotti the dog - you see this person next to Christmas Lights what's on his shirt? The initials & symbol on his brown shirt - it could be Mr. Z.

Just a guess on my part, but they may strongly feel that many people out there have information about who the killers are, and are just too afraid to talk.

Having a tip line, allows people to speak, but remain anonymous- and they may hope this will encourage people to feel more safe in coming forward with any information they have.

I LOVE God, but his fan club scares the shit out of me!!!

Maybe frustration... IMO. At least they are using the media as a resource now. I think having a family spokesperson is a good idea.

Oh, man, this makes me sick. The news actually said "the case has gone cold". While there is no way for me to know, I'm inclined to think that it's incompetence on the part of the sheriff's dept. I keep thinking if this were a large metro homicide division that it would have been solved. That crime scene must have been rich with evidence. I also think it was a mistake to clean the house right away because it could have been gone over, again. Who knows what may have been missed.

concerned, how did unknown come across that info about a white van? I remember his posting about it, here, but never read or heard it in any news reports.

Hey, where's Pinky Floyd? Looks like he was right.

no he wasn't right. the case is not cold. since when is the "news" privy to or correct about anything regarding LE information? i know for a fact this case is being worked. a case is not "cold" after this period of time. those reports were nothing and contained no real information, as per usual. the only thing different was Lisa's uncle said they were manually strangled. that was not in prior reports that i am aware of. they even got the tip line number wrong.
