TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - A Toledo man is facing charges for the shocking double murder in Springfield Township back in January. Around six p.m., detectives with the Lucas County Sheriff's Office charged 24 year old Samuel Williams with two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated burglary.

The charges stem from the break-in of Lisa Straub's parents' home and murders of Lisa and her live-in boyfriend Johnny Clarke. It was Johnny's father who busted open the door to the Longacre Road home January 1 and found both Lisa and Johnny dead with their hands bound with duct tape and plastic bags over their heads.

"I have faith in god. I have never lost hope," said Maytee Vasquez, Johnny Clarke's mother, after the Thursday arrest. "He says Maytee, it's Det. Kozak. I have very good news for you. I said tell me you got somebody. He said we got him Maytee. We made the arrest."

We're told detectives first brought Williams into the jail for a domestic violence warrant out of Toledo. In that case, he's accused of kicking in the door of his ex wife in March and threatening to beat her up.

Both families of the victims said they've never heard of Williams. One family member said he believes Williams' relative was friends with the young couple.

Vasquez said she's going to every court hearing set for Williams, even though she's not sure if she's ready to see him face to face.

"I just want to jump out of my skin. I want to jump out of my skin when you ask me that question right now. I want to jump out of my skin and run," she said.

The Lucas County Sheriff will hold a press conference about the arrest first thing Friday morning. Detectives said Thursday night more arrests are pending.

Both families said they will be pushing for the death penalty.

Vasquez said she had planned to hold a protest in front of the Lucas County Jail September 29th due to no arrest in the eight month double murder case. She says her protest for justice is now cancelled and she's thankful to the detectives involved.

Williams has been charged with two counts of murder, two counts of aggravated burglary and one charge of domestic violence.

Since the murders, authorities have maintained the murders were not a random act of violence and that Clarke and Straub were targeted.

The cops probably said something like" his sister's name is ______ " and they said " oh yeah I think she was a friend of Johnny and Lisa"

An East Toledo man was arrested Thursday night in the Jan. 31 slaying of a young Springfield Township couple who were found with their wrists bound by duct tape and plastic bags covering their heads.

Samuel Todd Williams, 24, was arrested by detectives at the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office where he was being questioned. He was charged with two counts of murder, two counts of aggravated burglary, and one count of domestic violence. His last known address was 1626 Kelsey Ave.

The murder and aggravated burglary charges were filed in Sylvania Municipal Court, and the domestic violence charge was filed in Toledo Municipal Court.

Johnny Clarke, 21, and Lisa Straub, 20, were found dead in Ms. Straub’s parents’ Longacre Lane home.

Investigators have said they believe the pair were killed in an apparent robbery attempt that occurred while Miss Straub’s parents were on a Caribbean cruise.

The sheriff’s office said at the time that the crime was not a random act of violence and that Miss Straub and Clarke were targeted.

Maytee Vasquez-Clarke, Johnny Clarke’s mother, said she went numb when detectives called her with news of the arrest.

“I’m in shock. I’m numb. My heart’s beating 140 beats per minute,” she said.

Mrs. Clarke said she was in a store purchasing white candles to light for Johnny — a custom she said she performs every day — when Detective Jeff Kozak called her. Her first reaction was to scream in joy.

Mrs. Clarke said her nephew had to hold her up because she nearly passed out.

“Oh my God,” she said. “It’s bittersweet. It won’t bring my son back. But I’ve prayed to God day and night to make an arrest and bring this evil demon off the street.”

Mrs. Clarke said she looked at the jail booking photo of Mr. Williams and compared it with photographs of the suspect that were taken by a friend of the slain couple.

“He was in the picture on Facebook. I’m on the Internet looking at his picture right now,” she said.

“I hope he rots in eternal death in the pits of Hell for eternity. I hate him. He is the worst face of the evil demon I’ve ever looked at in my life. He’s the picture of pure evil,” she said, examining the booking photograph. “I hate him. I hate him for taking my beautiful son and Lisa from us,” Mrs. Clarke said.

Seriously, SOOOO GLAD all four parents will sleep a little better tonight. No other case has affected me the way this one has. I have no relation to any of it yet I constantly find myself obsessing about "who" and "how" and "why the hell them"??? I checked into Mock on a regular basis hoping for a suspect to be arrested. For some reason I don't feel the elation that I had expected to feel (after all these months). Two babies are still dead. No amount of justice will allow their parents to hug them again. SUCKS. Hey, maybe I'll feel that joy when they fry his ass.

I know, it's wonderful. We have LC to thank for that, it's her dedication to this that has made Mock the forum on record for news & updates. I'm very proud of her, people come from around the world to read LC's Cell Block, it's a huge coup.

Thanks to all who helped make this thread a record breaking one. LC doesn't pay attention to numbers, she's all about the crime, I'm the one that embraces our stats. Thanks, Mockers! 27

Taking the candles and voodoo dolls she planned to set out on her porch last night, Maytee visited her son’s grave at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. His grave site, visible from space, was lit by solar-powered lights in the shape of flowers and candles.
