VAZQUEZ: Johnny was in barber school. Johnny was in barber school. And Johnny had been staying with Lisa for the past few weeks. The kids were back and forth between my house and Lisa`s house. They would stay at my house a week or two. They would go to Lisa`s house a week or two. They were always back and forth.
Since the parents had the cruise planned to go out of town, the kids were going to be out there house-sitting.

Make no mistake, the only people responsible for this crime are the ones who chose to commit it. Texas born and raised, I am all about the death penalty and pray that comes to those who committed this crime. Regardless of their upbringing, I do not feel the death penalty is "vengeance" nor do I see it in biblical terms. to me it what is effective. Face it, Ted Bundy was in jail when he broke out and killed more people. Obviously, that is not effective. Since he has been executed, how many has he killed???? NONE Now that is effective!!!

and for the record, I do not blame Maytee one way or the other, I could personally careless, Not my business really. I have not ever met her, nor do I know her. Her record shows that she has embraced some challenges in her life that perhaps, were not the best challenges for her children to see nor embrace in their own lives. You take that for what you will. As I said, my own brother may have followed a path into drugs without my mother's influence,or with it- who knows really?, how would any one know? But for you to tie this to this situation to Maytee is on you, because I never implied that it meant anything beyond my own experience within my own family. And I would not take it personal and walk around with it if I were you and had choice. It is what it is, and that is simply all it is! nothing more!

It did not appear that Mr. Pettaway's family members were at the arraignment yesterday afternoon.
Mr. Williams and Mr. Pettaway are childhood friends and are still "very close," Mr. Pettaway's mother, Kenyatta Baker, has told The Blade.
Judge Ramey granted Mr. Pettaway a public defender and the case was continued to 10 a.m. today.

I believe that this post, by Maytee, emphasizes her true callousness and wanton disregard for the rights of the Straub family.
The Straubs (through family spokesman Jim Verbosky) stated, in the Toledo Blade (Oct. 1, 2011):
Mr. Verbosky said despite comments from members of Clarke's family that they speak on behalf of both the victims, Miss Straub's parents, through him, are only the voice of their daughter.
"Jeff and Mary Beth [Straub] will speak on Lisa's behalf," he said, adding that the family knows that there is a long road ahead of them. "… The family is definitely ready to be there and will be there [in court]."

I believe Maytee's continuing to state that she will be the voice of Lisa, after Lisa's family claimed that right and duty, is a conscious and deliberate disregard for the wishes of a grieving family and a arrogant display of self importance. She has neither the authority nor the permission of Lisa's family to speak on her behalf.
This is no subtle attempt to disrespect the Straub family.
It is blatant, deliberate, insensitive and cruel.

To me, LC was being blatantly sarcastic with her inventory of goods!
IF the Straubs resided in an HOA (Homeowner's Association) community, then there is a strong posibility that, in fact, a "claim" was paid by the HOA's insurance carrier.
I have clients who are HOAs. I've seen this type of behavior before.
Think of it as a new twist on the old "Slip and Fall" chestnut.
Make a fews 'threats' about a lawsuit, blather about pain and suffering, lost future income, potential offspring . . . etc.
Then throw in bad publicity, downward real estate prices and the cost of a trial and (in many cases) the insurance carrier tosses a few bucks in their direction, has them sign a non-disclosure statement and it's bidnez as usual.
It's pretty straight forward and most folks, who want to make a quick buck, usually grab this brass ring. It's really just a "shakedown" dressed-up in alleged pain and suffering.
If it is true that this really happened, it's quite surprising and a bit disconcerting to me. I have no reason to doubt it didn't happen.
But then, if I truly believed that an injustice was done, I'd fight it in the open and file a lawsuit. There's always a settlement hearing before a trial.
However . . . one should be represented by counsel.
Maybe that's the rub. No attorney was willing to take the case based on the facts. Or they jumped at the first pieces of silver tossed their way.
Sad. Very sad.
