Hoping the trials REALLY get started. I can't decide which one to attend. Hopefully I will be able to get into one of them and do some reporting. I don't know if there will a lot of people trying to get in. Unfortunately I return to work Aug.7th.

it SUCKS court tv/trutv is not going to be televising. The_Villagers

it also sucks trials start on same day. the witnesses will have to be the same.

i can only hope some of our members or my informants attend and tell us what's happening. we know the local news outlets are worse than junior high school newspapers.

now i will hold my breath for at least one last-minute plea.

Granted, Steven Hartman is not exactly a rare name, but I only know of one in Toledo, and a quick Google search didn't reveal ant others. The Steve Hartman I know is an attorney. Small two man firm, Kerger and Hartman, and both he and his partner do a lot of criminal defense work. Some of it high profile stuff. Richard Kerger recently represented former Ohio Congressman (and certified goofball extraordinaire) James Traficant, who was imprisoned on charges of corruption and accepting bribes a few years back, if memory serves. Hartman defended a local trio accused and convicted of terrorist activities a few years ago.

IF this is the Hartman referred to, what possible ties to this case? I have no idea. Maybe one of you Mockers who are better than I at looking under virtual rocks will find a connection. Older Than Dirt? Night Owl? The ball's in your court and the rest of us anxiously await your report to enlighten us.

Title : ORD:ORDER
802-000001231 issued by 153 ()
Dated June 19, 2012. Court Reporter CHRIS ARDLEY ordered.
State of Ohio: ROBERT MILLER. JOHN B. THEBES and JANE
ROMAN present on behalf of the defendant. Defendant,
SAMUEL TODD WILLIAMS present in court.
This matter came on to be heard on the issue of a
potential conflict of interest on the part of lead counsel
John Thebes regarding his past legal representation of a
possible State's witness referred to as "Mr. W." "Mr. W."
present in court with his attorney, STEVEN HARTMAN. "Mr.
W." sworn and testimony taken. Waiver of Conflict of
Interest, executed and marked as Court's Exhibit A. The
Court finds that "Mr. W." has waived any potential or
actual conflict of interest as to Attorney John Thebes'
continued representation of Samuel Todd Williams even in
the event that "Mr. W." is called to be a witness against
Samuel Todd Williams by the State of Ohio. The Court
finds that "Mr. W." had the benefit of new counsel to
advise him and that his waiver was made knowingly,
intelligently, and voluntarily.
Upon due consideration, the Court finds John Thebes to
remain as counsel of record for Defendant Samuel Todd
Williams, under the constraints previously set.
Trial date confirmed as previously set.

Bond continued at 4.3 million dollars; No 10%.
JUDGE DEAN MANDROS
PARTY : D1 - WILLIAMS SAMUEL TODD

On another note, I've been told that due to limited space it will be necessary to have your name on a list to ensure that you're allowed to attend the trials. I've asked the Straubs to put me on their list, and although I'm not sure how much time I'll be able to devote to attending, I'll be there as much as I can to support them, and will share information here.
Also, Lisa's sister Lindsey and some of Lisa's friends have been served with subpoenas as witnesses for the DEFENSE. Not sure what they're up to but my guess would be to use those closest to Lisa to either paint her as a hard-partying drug dealer with lot's of potential enemies, or to try to establish the existence of a jealous previous boyfriend or two whose rage could have led to the murder of Lisa and her current "boyfriend." I'm guessing LC will have a much more informed opinion on the defense's strategy re: the subpoenas.

Mustang i think your guess is quite good. they will use Lisa's sister and friends to try to portray her in a bad light. but that could really backfire in their faces...blaming a victim who is very sympathetic. it's a risky strategy that can alienate a jury.

This was a very informative report on Steve Hartman Esq. I didn't think he was Mr. W but, it's easy to make an error reading documents. Thanks!

Thanks for the heads up, Mustang. Was really hoping to be able to attend, as I've spent a good deal of time following/thinking about this case. But, it's understandable why they're using the lists. Please let the Straubs know there are strangers out here who keep them in their thoughts & prayers

about the subpoenas, ugh...what a shitty situation to be put in by the defense.

Thanks for sharing this information Mustang, it sounds to me like the Court Room will be a full house, I hope you get on that list and get in O.K. you are the man for the job! The list business do you suppose they check court room attendee's backgrounds?

Gosh! I don't think Lisa had any enemies she was well liked and loved everybody liked her, her ex boyfriend didn't treat her right at all he was full of rage right enough. Most of Lisa's friends had class! I feel sorry they are being called, Tiffany Williams exception was a fresh new friend, I believe they met at Owens you don't see Tiffany in all the party pictures earlier on. The Defense has facebook hard saying what they've got.
They will also drag in Johnny's friends and they will just try to trash both victims to no end, it's awful and Maytee could get really riled up, I hope not.
I pray for Mr & Mrs Straub this terrible crime should never have happened in Toledo just makes me sick what these thugs did and I pray they have solid DNA evidence against them and they get the death penalty!!!

Thank you! Mustang

You need to really get over the kush, and move past it, Owl. It is all just grass. But I will check out the 76 whatever. The trial is going to start, wish I was there.

Dang, can't believe I missed that. Thanks for pointing it out, NightOwl. So on June 21st, the defense was given the names and statements of the confidential informants (#1-5). Still not sure where Mr W fits in, except that he gave a letter of proffer just like the Travis guy. So it is looking like seven individuals have come forward and spilled the beans.

It's going to be a major trial for Northwest Ohio IMO I'm wondering where is Pico45 and Undercovercameo hope they are still on board! They are both missed on here and both mentioned going to the trial.

Adub do you know if we can get transcripts anywhere free on line?

Only if the media requests them, as far as I know. The only Ohio court records that I have ever found were in the higher courts.

Hey folks,

So sorry for being lazy but I'm completely strapped with work and was hoping someone could post a link or something on where I can watch the trial on TV/internet next week (if tv media is still going to be there).

Anyone know?

I hope they (any news source in Toledo) end up putting some decent trial footage online. Even if its not right away. I always feel like the media fucks up the details one way or another. I want to know wtf went down that night. And why?

Ohh to be a fly on those courtroom walls
