16 and wanted for murder.

TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - Police are searching for a 16-year-old boy suspected of killing a 17-year-old in a central Toledo shooting.

Davion Wilson, 16, is wanted for the Dec. 30 murder of Deadrick Rocker, 17, near the corner of Hoag and Tecumseh.

A central Toledo woman died Tuesday after being shot while watching television inside her home, authorities said.

Toledo police responded to 2264 Fulton St. about 12:46 a.m. Tuesday to find the occupant Fannie Mae Smith, 81 in her sunroom, with a gunshot wound. She was taken to a local hospital where she died a short time later, police said.

Ms. Smith was sitting on a couch in her sunroom watching television when someone shot through the window. She was struck in the side, once, Sgt. Joe Heffernan said.

“Any homicide or murder is tragic. But this is especially disturbing when you see an 81-year-old woman shot like that in her own home,” Sergeant Heffernan said.

Police had no motive or suspects. It was unclear what kind of firearm was used, he said.

Fannie Mae Smith, 81, was sitting on her couch in central Toledo, watching television shortly after midnight Tuesday, when she was fatally shot through a window by someone who family members claimed was trying to gun down her son.

“They were chasing someone and then there was some kind of an altercation on the porch and that’s when the shots were fired; two missed, and two went in the house,” said Abdu Parker, 41, the victim’s grandson.

A Toledo native, Ms. Smith had been employed in the neighborhood as a caregiver to developmentally disabled adults for about 20 years at the former Burton’s Group Home on Ashland Avenue until retiring in the late 1990s, he said, adding that she had lived in the neighborhood most of her life.

A man who escaped from Toledo police and was responsible for a two-hour standoff at a South Toledo home Friday was arrested Tuesday night without incident.

Walter Roberts, 28, of 332 Sumner St. was observed by police officers at Delaware Avenue and Walnut Street; police had issued warrants for Roberts for kidnapping and felonious assault.

A standoff Friday ended after police discovered Roberts wasn’t inside the attic of 317 Western Ave., where they believed he had barricaded himself, armed with a gun.

TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) – A Toledo man who police said triggered a two-hour standoff last week went before a judge Wednesday morning.

Walter Roberts, 28, is accused of kidnapping and stabbing his girlfriend. He is being held on a $200,000 bond.

On Dec. 30 police attempted to serve warrants for abduction and felonious assault to Roberts at his home at 317 Western Avenue. They thought they had him surrounded but he was not inside.

On Tuesday, police arrested Roberts on charges of kidnapping, felonious assault and threatening to kill his girlfriend once he is out of jail. Roberts thinks she is the person who turned him in.

Roberts could face more than 16 years behind bars if he is convicted.

A 16-year-old boy accused of murder was arraigned in Lucas County Juvenile Court on Wednesday morning.

Davion Wilson, 16, was arraigned on two charges, one count of murder and one count of felonious assault for a Dec. 31 shooting that left 17-year-old Deadrick Rocker dead and another 16-year-old boy seriously wounded.

Judge Denise Navarre Cubbon entered a plea of not guilty for the boy and said an attorney would be appointed to him. She ordered that he be held in detention due to the seriousness of the offense.

Judge Cubbon said the boy will be tried in Common Pleas Court; a Jan. 12 pretrial hearing was scheduled as was a Jan. 25 hearing.

Lori Olender, a juvenile prosecutor, said the 16-year-old who was shot during the incident, whose name has not been made available, was still in a local hospital with five gunshot wounds.

The suspect’s mother, Martina Wilson, sat next to her son during the arraignment. She moved her chair to sit as closely as possible to her son. Before Lucas County Sheriff’s deputies took the suspect from the courtroom, Ms. Wilson kissed her son.

She declined to comment after the arraignment.

A probable cause hearing will be held later this month in which the surviving teen in this shooting could testify. If probable cause is proven, Wilson will be certified as an adult in the murder case. However, the judge's discretion will determine if he is certified for the felonious assault. Murder is a mandatory life sentence as an adult. A juvenile conviction means a defendant can get out at 21 years old.

Wonder why Robinson would do an interview now? Thought this upcoming interview may be of interest.

Robinson gives interview on Paula Zahn's show

BY KIRK BAIRD
BLADE STAFF WRITER

Paula Zahn examines the Sister Margaret Ann Pahl murder case, including an interview with her convicted killer, Toledo priest Gerald Robinson, in her series On the Case with Paula Zahn. The episode titled Last Rites premieres at 10 p.m. Sunday on cable network Investigation Discovery, which can be seen locally on Buckeye CableSystem channel 203 and U-Verse channel 260. Robinson was convicted in 2006 of the 1980 murder of Sister Margaret Ann.

"When we looked at the murder of Sister Margaret Ann Pahl we saw many elements we felt our audience would find compelling. It involved the murder of a beloved nun, who was stabbed to death on Holy Saturday and the crime was committed inside of a holy sanctuary [the sacristy of a church]," said Larry Israel, On the Case with Paula Zahn's co-executive producer. "This is the first time Father Gerald Robinson has ever been interviewed on television and I think viewers will be riveted by what he said when he sat down with Paula."

Blade religion editor David Yonke, who covered the Robinson trial and wrote a book about it, Sin, Shame & Secrets, was also interviewed as part of the show's coverage.

The Pahl murder has attracted network attention before. In October, 2010, Investigation Discovery's then-new series American Occult explored the Robinson case, and his trial drew gavel-to-gavel coverage by Court TV (now truTV).

Sorry you were a robbery victim! I'd complain to the Management at Applebees they need to hire a security guard - your car should have been safe while you dined out. Never leave your shopping where it is visible through a car window. All around the Mall there at Monroe St., I think these thugs are just watching for shoppers leaving with shopping and then going to a restaurant, they may have followed you. I think contact Applebees CEO if you have to and E-mail the Mayor. Good luck and thanks for posting!
