The new investigation seems to be gaining a lot of exposure and momentum, lou.

After 5 years, the Portugal police has re-opened the investigation there citing "new leads", but hasn't given any details.

Really hope to see this one get solved.

The Portuguese investigation will run parallel with British police efforts to find out what happened to the girl who vanished shortly before her fourth birthday during a family vacation in southern Portugal in May 2007.

Portuguese police closed the case in 2008 because authorities had detected no crime. The case sparked global interest because pictures of Madeleine beamed around the world and because her parents were briefly considered suspects before they were cleared and returned home to England.

British detectives have said it's possible that Madeleine is still alive. British police launched Operation Grange in 2011 to try to solve the puzzle about what happened to the girl.

"This is a welcome development, but both sides of the investigation are at relatively early stages, with much work remaining to be done," Scotland Yard said in a statement about its own case and the Portuguese announcement. "This new momentum is encouraging, but we still have a way to go, and as with all major investigations, not all lines of enquiry that look promising will yield results."

British police will travel regularly to Portugal, Scotland Yard added.

British police investigating Madeleine McCann's disappearance are targeting three burglars whose phones were "red hot" after she went missing, Sky News has confirmed.

The Met Police confirmed that the Crown Prosecution Service has sent an International Letter of Request to ­Portuguese authorities on behalf of the Metropolitan Police; they want the men tracked down and arrested or interrogated.

Sky News Crime Correspondent Martin Brunt said mobile phone records show the men made numerous calls to each other in the hours after Madeleine vanished while on a family holiday in Praia da Luz in May 2007.

He said: "Scotland Yard detectives, among many other things they did as part of their review of the Portuguese case, have examined mobile phone traffic and what's emerged is that there was an extensive use of mobile phones by these three individuals in the minutes and hours after Madeleine disappeared.

"Madeleine went missing and within minutes the phones of these suspects were 'red hot' - they were talking to each other an awful lot.

"Investigators have no idea what they were saying to each other. There are no recordings of the phone conversations, but the activity was such that it's raised suspicions."

It is claimed that days before the little girl vanished, the gang raided another holiday flat in the Algarve resort, disturbing a child.

A defence lawyer in a recent child neglect court case asked the same question. His client was accused of leaving her five year old son alone in the house for a few hours. He argued “if my client is guilty of neglect then why weren't the McCann parents charged?”

The McCanns and their supporters hummed and harred “how dare he say that!” Completely overlooking the fact he had made a perfectly legitimate point.

British police investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann said Wednesday they are seeking an intruder who sexually assaulted five girls in the region of southern Portugal where the British toddler was last seen.

Police have linked 12 crimes between 2004 and 2010, in which a man entered holiday villas occupied by British families in Portugal's Algarve region. In several of those cases, the man sexually assaulted young girls.

Det. Chief Insp. Andy Redwood acknowledged there were differences between the characteristics of the 12 incidents and the McCann case — such as time of day and the fact that there were no abductions — but stressed the need to identify the intruder.

"This is an offender who has got a very, very unhealthy interest in young, white, female children who he is attacking whilst they are on holiday in their beds," Redwood said. "We really need to identify the offender, to bring to a close the trauma and the tragedy that these families have suffered, and then seek to establish whether this is connected to Madeleine's disappearance."

British police haven't released a composite sketch of the suspect.

Portuguese police made no comment. Cases that are under investigation in Portugal are covered by a judicial secrecy law, which forbids the release of information.

Blah, blah. I don't believe for one minute that a stranger abducted, molested or killed Maddie.

What I can't understand is why "British police" are wasting their taxpayers money and their detective's time on this crap.

Maddie is dead, her parents know it and could give police the answers if they chose to do so.

I don't have a strong opinion about what happened to Maddie.

She shouldn't have been alone with other little ones in that room; that I feel strongly about. It was neglectful. Even though "abduction" isn't something that would necessarily enter a parent's mind naturally from a resort hotel room, any number of other foreseeable tragedies could have occurred as a result of leaving those kids without adult supervision.

Did she die because her parents over-drugged her, causing them to embark on a huge cover-up to avoid criminal liability -- and then, worse -- to launch a huge public campaign to profit from their child's death? That, I don't know. They would truly have to be sociopathic to do so, IMO.

The reported cadaver dog hits bother me. But, it was reported that cadaver dogs hit at Lisa Irwin's house after her mom claims she was abducted and no charges were filed. Did they really hit? I don't know how well the original Portuguese investigators handled the case. I could see the parents going into defensive mode if they knew they were being targeted, whether they were innocent or guilty.

Would the British and Portuguese police continue investing time and money on this case if they had proof the parents were responsible and covering-up? I don't see why, unless the McCanns are way more powerful and connected than I'm aware.

IDK. If the new investigation is objective and the McCanns are guilty, maybe it will eventually lead right back to them or they'll slip up. If they're not guilty, I'd sure like to see whoever took Madeleine brought to justice.

7 YEARS LATER -- "NEW ACTIVITY"

Hard to believe -- Saturday marked seven years since Madeleine was reported missing.

Here's the latest update on the parallel British/Portuguese investigations.

The revelation comes amid several reports that Portuguese authorities gave permission for the search and excavation of sites in Praia da Luz, a coastal town 120 miles south of Lisbon.

The network also said that Rowley sent a letter to media outlets asking them to "think carefully" about information they published. He reportedly pointed out that activity would cease if police in Britain released information or if reporters caused a disruption in regards to the investigation (HOTD: the request to media seems reasonable, but the threat if it's not respected seems effin' weird, to me).

"We do not want to undermine our prospects of providing Mr. and Mrs. McCann with answers in this tragic case," Rowley said, according to the BBC.

British authorities announced in March that they had identified a possible link between Madeleine's disappearance and a series of twelve incidents between 2004 and 2010 in which a male intruder gained access to residences - primarily holiday villas occupied by families from the U.K. in the Western Algarve section of Portugal.

In four of those instances, Met police said, a man sexually assaulted 5 white girls, between the ages of 7 and 10, while they were in their beds. On one of those occasions, the man sexually assaulted two girls in the same residence, authorities said. They asked the public's help in identifying a man with a "questionable odor" wanted for questioning in connection with those cases and the disappearance of Madeleine.

Following that announcement, police said they were tipped off to another five sexual assaults and one near miss close to where Madeleine disappeared.

Over the weekend, Madeleine's father, Gerry McCann, spoke out, saying the Metropolitan Police team was moving on to a "very active" phase in its investigation. He added that he hopes for a "happy outcome," according to the BBC.

Kate McCann, the child's mother, reportedly recently disclosed that she returns to the resort in Praia da Luz where Madeleine disappeared once or twice a year to "walk those streets" and "look for answers."

A $33,000 reward in the case still stands.

FORENSIC LAND SEARCH BEGINS NEAR PRAIA DA LUZ RESORT

Officers placed yellow-and-white police tape around the waste ground, which is larger than a soccer field and covered in bushes and some trees. Convicted pedophile Christian B, 43, ^ was caught with his trousers down under a slide in San Bartolomeu de Messines, 40 miles from Praia da Luz, Portugal, where Madeleine McCann disappeared when she was aged three.

The German national was arrested in 2017 after he committed a sex act in front of four youngsters and was extradited to Germany where he is currently behind bars for drug offences.

These new revelations came in a half-hour investigation aired by Portuguese TV broadcaster RTP.

Madeleine McCann had been on holiday in Portugal with her parents Kate and Gerry McCann, and her twin siblings, Sean and Amelie, when she vanished without a trace on May, 3, 2007.

Madeleine's parents have always stated that they hold out hope she will one day be found alive (though many vocal case followers have accused the parents of accidentally or willfully killing the little girl).

Authorities in Germany have said they are now treating the case as a suspected murder and know how the toddler was killed.

For what it's worth..........a former friend of suspect Christian B claims that the suspect fantasized about creating a dungeon in his home, similar to the dungeon where that fucking sicko Josef Fritzl held captive and sexually abused his daughter for years and years.

But something I see even more is these goddamn pedophiles getting released from jail time and time again just to end up killing a little kid.
