The 9/11 Tribute and Memorial

Was it carte blanche forgiveness or was it specific?

You know . . . forgive them for TSA lines and carry-on restrictions? Forgive them for a second term for Bush?. Forgive them for Juan Williams' NPR firing? Forgive them for treating their women as second-class citizens?

I hold no animus for each and every Muslim.

Just the ones who don't eat pork.

That's fine, LC. My guess is you're actually a Christian woman. I'm not here to flaunt it, but after looking at the first 3 pages of the link you posted, I found that most were either agnostic, aethiest or just generally didn't care. I'm not trying to be judgemental AT ALL.

I'm also not a fan of the televangelists. They give Christianity a bad name. People don't even have to call themselves Christians, but if they simply listen to the teachings of Jesus, 'love thy neighbor', 'forgiveness', etc., it's a pretty straightforward message.

Anyway, enough about this. I believe what I believe.

I think he was talking carte blanche. The thought has/had never entered my mind. To me, Muslims have been the enemy from that morning on 911 when the first plane hit the north tower.

He wasn't talking about forgiveness in a scared, pussy, PC way, either. And, he wasn't pandering to Islam. I think he was just trying to reach people that have been hardened in their hearts by this event. And, just reminding people of what Jesus' message is.

Sorry, Tiki, that I didn't have a witty comeback for you. You are the master.Notworthy

What I was getting at:

Forgive them for the killing of civilians, forgive them for their hatred, forgive them for their ignorance, forgive them for their religious choice . . .

It's funny. I never condemned the religion for the events of 9/11.

I continue to condemn those who allow the hatred to continue within their folds.

And the non-pork eaters.

That will never change.

I'm pretty sure I knew what you were getting at. I've despised, loathed and hated everything Islam since 9/11. To me it's a religion of intolerance, and dare I say, hate (for any non-Muslim). And, I don't construe my pastor's comments as weakness or 'turning the other cheek'.

This is more about unburdening OURSELVES from living with hatred. It won't be easy.

Nor do I. Actually, it's quite healthy.

I learned, some time ago, it is better to give a resentment than to carry one.

I guess that follows the teaching of Christ: "It is more blessed to give . . . than to receive."

I'm a believer...That's my religious point of view.

I dislike my president very, very much...and have ZERO respect for the man. That's my political point of view.

I don't get into religious or political debates, other than an occasional sarcastic gesture every once in a while...can't think of a bigger waste of time than arguing about those 2 topics.

Well...shit! I forgot about the "discussion" I recently had with this big, dorky, redheaded, Andre the giant, size 36DD's moobs, asshole at work about the welfare slobs and how much Barry loves them. Funny...he won't talk to me anymore.

Read between the lines Miswest Spy...you should have everyone figured out by now without them coming right out with it.

Cool, FAHQTOO, I think I have gotten most figured out. Not that I'm taking notes or anything.

BTW, I can't stand it when men can't get their moobs under control. I mean, they do make garments for men don't they? Or, just try some pushups...

I was just passing by the Tele and Simon was on. I stopped because he looked old and sad. I listened to the song and it was timely but it did strike me like a bolt and I was fixated. A moment and that was it. Sometimes a few seconds can last a lifetime. That was one.
Yes, I am not so proud or self centered to believe that I know everything. God is out there. I am just to stupid as a human to understand him. THAT is faith, and though I give 711 a ration of shit sometimes and anyone else that I feel like fucking with I respect everyone. And try not to go overboard. ..........so what? It has no effect on my personal enchilada. Nobody here will ever change me. I'm set in my ways.
Preaching to the choir does nothing. Either way.

Simon is still with Edie Brickell. He is a genius. A short one but one anyways.
He ain't heavy, he's my brother.

Not sure if you figured me out yet, but I'm agnostic. And if there is a a God I think it's most likely the Deism type.

You are a strange animal, sally. Hard and soft at the same time. I think you would win in a knife fight, but would call 911 on your way out of the bar...

Blaming all Muslims for 911 is like blaming all rednecks for Oklahoma.

Retarded but about what I have come to expect around here.

The irony. You sound exactly like those guys that fly planes into buildings.

Thank God the percentage of those that share these kind of views are small either side and the folks with at least a bit of brains make up the larger part of humanity or else you'd have pilots go berzerk trying to keep your sort out of the cockpits.

Couldn't get any sort of decent service on flights anymore. Banish the thought!

Hi Duchess... I'm glad to see you're well. Remember, 911 isn't the only incident that Islamic Terrorists have taken credit for. You have the London subway bombings, the bombings in Spain and the Bali bombings. They were all directed at 'Western' civilization. In short, the extremist element of Islam has been at war with the west for many, many years.

Because of this, I personally have loathed their religion. It is not a religion of love, peace and forgiveness, and least not what I've seen demonstrated. It would seem to be a religion of intolerance... it's either our way or the highway.

I'm admitting that my personal feelings for the past decade have NOT been Christian-like regarding the 'average' Muslim. I'm saying that because of my 'epiphany' from Sunday, that I'm trying to change that.

We have an extremely large contingent of Muslims in Minneapolis. Mostly Somali. My church actively seeks interaction with their community, trying to bridge cultural divides, etc. A lot of good people at work. I personally have not partaken.

So, you're right, I've been hypocritical. I hope that changes.

I think you're a little over the top there, Mo, comparing me to the 911 terrorists. Remember, THEIR actions caused my reaction. And, I haven't randomly driven by some woman in a burka and blasted her as she walked down the street.

I'd bet there are a lot more Americans that feel the way I do than the way you do.

Not here. I agree with Mo. You're a bigoted, backwoods, Lutheran "ask for forgiveness and it will be given", Catholic light, shit for brains, Nebraska corn husker mother fucker, as far as I'm concerned.
