so far there has been very little information released. i just don't know Ramsey. but in a case like this you have to suspect molestation or rape. that poor little girl. waiting on autopsy findings, if they release them.

According to the updated article linked above, the arrest affadavit was released to the Star Herald yesterday evening. It indicates that the school contacted Kerra's mom to inquire as to why she wasn't at school, but it was Kerra's grandmother who hours later notified the police that Kerra was missing (at 3 pm that day).

The affadavit also states that the POS stepfather, Lopez, admitted that he intentionally and purposely caused the death of Kerra Wilson.

He was arrested for first degree felony murder and first degree felony sexual assault of a minor. Charges for the murder have been filed, but not (yet) for the sexual assault. Maybe he's denying it and they will add charges after autopsy? Imo, there is a reason LE was holding him on both counts. Lopez is to be arraigned on Monday morning.

As for the mother, I found nothing (other than her name). LE indicates they are still investigating and nothing I could find indicates that the mom has or has not been cleared of any involvement or knowledge.

So angry and sad about this, but relieved that little Kerra was not left in the elements for a prolonged period time and LE is making quick progress in pushing forward to hold the responsible party(s) accountable.

Kerra was the oldest of four children living in the home. Police say the three other children are now in the care of relatives.

It is unclear when Kerra was killed and police say the motive is still unknown. They also say it is unknown whether or not Kerra's mother, Amanda Lopez, was involved.

Among other things, am wondering what (if anything) the above mentioned "local rancher" (fancy term 'round here for farmer) may have seen/heard/known -- for him to have alerted LE as soon as he did. If it hadn't been for his doing that, Kerra may never have been found. And her POS stepfreakfather wouldn't have then admitted what he did.

Out here in Nebraska, rural as it is, there's not much around for miles and miles. I stood outside the night she went missing, after hearing about it on the news... thinking.. oh my Lord, how in heck will they find her? Where to even begin? How/what/why did that farmer know Kerra might be on his property?

Salvador Carlos Lopez Accused In Kerra Wilson's Death

HARRISON, Neb. --

A western Nebraska man accused of killing his 8-year-old stepdaughter has waived a preliminary hearing and his case has been advanced to trial level in Sioux County District Court.

Authorities say 32-year-old Salvador Lopez killed Kerra Wilson and left her body on remote ranchland several miles north of their home in Mitchell last week.

Scottsbluff radio station KNEB reported Monday that Lopez appeared in court without an attorney. He is being held without bail, pending his arraignment at district court in Harrison.

On Friday he was charged with first-degree murder.

Police spent two days searching for the girl after Lopez and her mother, Amada Lopez, reported her missing.

A Nebraska State Patrol investigator says in court documents that Lopez acknowledged killing his stepdaughter.

Salvador Carl Lopez, 32, of Mitchell, appeared without an attorney and waived his right to a preliminary hearing in proceedings in Sioux County Court. Lopez is charged with first-degree murder, a Class I felony, in the death of Kerra Wilson, who has been identified as Lopez's stepdaughter.
The girl had been reported missing by her grandmother Wednesday after she failed to show up for school and relatives were contacted. Officials discovered her body on a ranch north of Mitchell on Thursday.
A complaint against Lopez places Wilson's death on Sept. 21, though it is not known if that has been confirmed by an autopsy. Authorities have not said when an autopsy will been scheduled. Sioux County Attorney Adam Edmunds declined to make any statements in connection with the case. He said all statements from the county attorney's office would be made in press releases.
During Monday's court hearing, Lopez clarified his name as Salvador Carl Lopez, correcting an official complaint that identified him as Salvador Carlos Lopez.
His voice faltered on the first "yes" answer he gave to Judge Russell Harford as Harford asked if he understood that he was charged with first-degree murder, a Class I felony, in the girl's death.
Lopez also told the judge that he understood that death was the maximum penalty for the offense. Harford also repeatedly asked and had Lopez state that he understood that he had a right to an attorney and a right to a preliminary hearing. Lopez said he did not want an attorney to represent him and waived his right to a preliminary hearing.
With Lopez waiving his right to a preliminary hearing, his next appearance in court will be in Sioux County District Court. A date for his court hearing was not yet available.
Lopez will remain jailed without bond.

I'm confused about the hearing today for the stepfreakfather. Was it a preliminary hearing or an arraignment?

Lots of questions, as is usual in the beginning of a case where things get reported in crazy ways sometimes.

Seems from what I've read so far, (and I could have it wrong of course), the school notified the family at about noon. Then someone in the family, either the mom or the grandma, notified police at about 2 pm.

Wonder what they were doing in those two hours??? Why did it take two hours to call the cops? WTF? It would have taken me all of 2 seconds to call them! Was it the mom who called or the grandma? Guess it doesn't really matter, but odd.

According to the locals, the mom is being investigated as well, and many theories are flying. One who supposedly saw Kerra that morning was a school crossing guard (an elderly man), who 'may have' seen someone who 'kinda looked like her'.

Haven't heard or read anything else yet.

So he confessed, declined an atty and waived his prelim hearing. Sounds like he's throwing himself on the mercy of the court, wanting to save the state a lot of money. How very nice of him. He could be just setting himself up to later say something like 'I dint unnerstan'.

I want the details of that morning! Where was everyone? Did the mom see Kerra before school? When was the last time anyone OUTSIDE the family actually saw and spoke with Kerra? Since a 'family member' admitted to killing Kerra, why are her siblings now staying with family? Yank those other precious little ones away from that family until LE figures out what is what!!
