Racism by law, still alive and well in the fucking bible belt.

And the athiests with their vast knowledge of everything seen and unseen are still pissed at anyone that believes in a higher power. They believe that man is perfect.

Just because someone is not convinced of something ... or doesn't feel compelled to buy or believe something ... whether it be ghosts, fairies, gods, or anything supernatural ... doesn't mean they think people are perfect. You are making an illogical connection there.

Any religion that needs to have things like "thou shalt not kill" written down is worthless and a haven for imbeciles with no common sense.

And you know for a fact that a random killing was frowned apon before it became law? You know for certain that 2-3000 years ago it was not O.K. to kill someone for the hell of it. If a person did it they knew remorse?

It was not OK in those tribes to just kill someone for any reason. Check out the culture of the people of the Bible before the 10 Commandments in bullet point form came down the mountain. There were religions and cultures in place that were already anti-violence. They were more anti-violence than the Bible ever preached. Take, for example, Taoism. It is older than Christianity.

As for the 10 Commandments, we can improve them in a few minutes simply by swapping out the first few which have to do with God being paranoid ("I am a jealous God") about not being worshiped correctly, with items such as be kind to children, or don't treat others as property (women, slaves, etc.) By the way, in the longer versions of the 10 Commandments found not on a tablet but in the Bible, there are references to slaves ... such as warnings not to covet the slaves of others (don't covet your neighbor's property like women and slaves) and advice to give your slaves off for the Sabbath (they need to make God feel worshiped too, ya know). Thank God we were handed down the 10 Commandments.

Many pre Christian civilisations had laws and morality.

Christianity does not equal morality nor did it invent it.

Does someone who cannot spell civilization know anything about it? In the world of a simpleton this would be true.

Does the Bible even mention interracial relationships? Throw some scripture at me. (That is the only time you will ever see me post that.)

Who makes up these stupid fuckin' rules?

I don't think you can help who you fall in love with, it just happens. As long as people are of legal age it shouldn't even matter. I truly don't care what consenting adults do with each other nor do I care if they are the same race or sex.

I don't either, Duchess. Most people don't care. I DO care about how people take care of their kids and if they support themselves and if they obey the laws. Other than that, if you are here legally, do whatever you want. Just keep your big headed kids out of my yard.

I don't even know why this made the news. Switch churches. Problem solved.

I looked it up on a Jesus site:

"An important Scripture in understanding this subject is 2 Corinthians 6:14: "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers." That last word, "unbelievers" is of key importance. A Christian should not marry a non-Christian--no matter how kind and good they are.

What about interracial marriage? Deuteronomy 7:1-6 tells the Israelites to destroy all the inhabitants of the Canaan land and not to intermarry with them--because they would "turn your sons away from following Me, that they may serve other gods." The same key concern of 2 Corinthians 6:14 is again expressed here.

Moses' wife was of another race and in Numbers 12:1-15 Aaron and Miriam were punished for criticizing this interracial marriage.
The book of Ruth tells a delightful story of a foreigner who became part of the lineage of Christ. The harlot, Rahab, also of another nation, is included in the lineage of Christ as recorded in Matthew 1. Colossians 3:11 makes it clear that from God's perspective all are one in Christ.

The Bible is clear that when both parties are believers (equally yoked), interracial marriage is not wrong."

Christians shouldn't discriminate by race, just by religion. That is much better. :eyeroll:

Separation of church and state. Opponents of gay marriage argue that churches will be required to marry gay couples even if it flies in the face of their religion (and they use that as a scare tactic to encourage people to vote against legalizing gay marriage).

I think gay marriage ought to be legalized but I also think religions ought to be allowed to determine who they will marry in their churches.

I couldn't get married in a Catholic church because I'm not Catholic. Period.

If the church has a religious basis for not conducting bi-racial marriages, so be it as long as legally, those two people can be married and their marriages recognized under state/federal laws. Sorry, but they need to ascribe to a religion that accepts biracial marriage if they want to get married in a church. If they can't, go to the county courthouse.

You don't force a religion to accept contraception or something else that violates their beliefs. Similarly, churches shouldn't be required to marry two people that (as illogical as it may seem to many) violate their religious beliefs.

King David had many different wives from different cultures as did Solomon.

Moses had a wife that was not hebrew. Fast forward the new testament, the only thing about marriage that I see, is that you are both believers, dosent mention sex, race or age.

Cracker did you want actual scriptures or are you ok with my explanation? I could go further with Solomon and his love for the Shulumite and how his brother also had the hots for her and he had his brother killed because he asked for her. I think she is the one mentioned in the Song of Songs and she had dark skin. That part is mentioned.

A well-preserved 2,000-year-old scroll of the Ten Commandments discovered in a cave is on display in New York for the first time.

The tiny scroll will be shown for 10 days at the Discovery Times Square exhibition space before returning to Israel.
