As I have said, my job is trying to help people. I see stuff that makes that task much harder, especially with the lower income and black communities.

I do think about different ways to get around some of the major problems I see, and it does concern me. I actually care about it. It bothers me because I have done it long enough to be able to predict who will fail by the behaviors they exhibit.

There is really nothing I can do to fix it. It has to be fixed in the respective communities. I bitch just as much about poor people and dysfunctional people as I do about black people. Most people don't notice that because they have Racist Radar tuned to the black channel.

If I see someone fucking up, I am the first one to point it out. Not out of hate, but out of truth. As long as we all avoid the truth, and responsibility, of our actions and attitudes nothing will change and nothing will get better.

I detest people who make excuses or blame others for their own failures. Nobody succeeds at everything, but with a decent amount of effort, you can always do well. If you weren't born lucky, you have to work that much harder.

Most blacks in the South hate white people. As cladking said, that is acceptable to most people, white and black. I can't decide if they are suspicious of white people who are actually trying to help them or if they can't fucking behave, or shut the fuck up, long enough to get help.

Yes, it bothers me. It should bother everyone. Black people, or stupid people or fucked up people or poor people, don't get an automatic pass from Cracker. I truly judge people by the content of their character.

I find most of them lacking. But I will bust my ass for anyone I find that is truly trying.

Honest enough?

I guess. Thanks for the response. Do you have a solution at the community level? Some of these communities just have a severe lack of job opportunities as well as a significant portion either depending on soup kitchens, essentially homeless, in need of some type of care. I fully understand the whole individual responsibility thing, but it does seem like the type of system we have not only favors higher class folk, but almost requires that some will fail or stay poor. Sort of like a natural cost to freedom and free markets. I just wonder, sometimes, what can close the tremendous gap I see while still preserving the wonderful benefits of capitalism and a free market based economy.

Most homeless people are drug addicts or mentally ill people. If "regular" people find themselves homeless, we have a system to take care of them, especially if kids are involved. The solution: If you raised a fucked up human being, take them in if they don't have anywhere else to live. I wouldn't let a member of my family be homeless and I don't know why other people do.

Education, including trade and vocational education, is free for very low income people in Georgia. They even pay for books and child care. You would be surpised at the low number of people who use these services because most poor people are poor because they can't fucking behave and get their shit together. They feel it is too much of a hassle. Can you believe that? Too much of a hassle to help themselves and their families. How do you fix that? Hire every person a personal professor to come to their house to educate them IF they feel like it that day?

That is the essence of the problem. Poor people, as I have said a hundred times, are poor for a reason. They can't fucking behave (finish tasks, show up when they are supposed to, behave in an appropriate manner at school or work, spend the money they get for education ON education, etc). You can hand them a way out on a silver platter and they will fuck it up.

The answer is to raise people correctly. But if nobody tells you that you are doing a shitty job and nobody calls you on it, why would you even fucking bother? You will just get the monthy check, take the food stamps, have your rent paid, and party when you can.

How do you help people who don't want to be helped in the long term and only want the money to get what they want today?

You can't. So I release my frustration here in the hopes that some dumb ass reading it will think, "Hmm, I should be doing better instead of being a pathetic POS."

Great response, but I can't help but wonder if your explanation is guilty of minimizing or dismissing all the people who became homeless due to bad decisions but also lack of jobs and no family to help. Usually the truth is somewhere in-between if you catch my drift.

I reserve my sympathy for people who are having trouble through no fault of their own. Most people who don't have a family have friends they can count on to help in a crisis. People are losing homes left and right around here, but we don't have a problem with homelessness.

Everybody makes bad decisions at one time or another. I know that. But how many bad decisions do you have to make to ruin your entire life? Not just a few, MF. You can't be bad with money AND a drug addict. You can't lose your job AND be a heavy drinker. You can't have money problems AND have no friends or family. You have to think. People forget to think. They do whatever they want, no matter the consequences, to be happy right now. They don't think ahead or plan. That is fucked up and a major problem for any adult to have. Adults should know better.
