I kinda made up for it with quail and doves though.

Killing an animal in order to eat it is correct hunting. Killing just for sport is incorrect. We have all eaten animals at one time and the only difference is most of us have had someone else kill it for us. Wild game, unlike feed lot animals, have had the beauty of freedom and I think it more honorable to hunt and eat wild game than to raise animals in confinement then kill them for food. The experience of hunting and eating wild animals can add to a persons appreciation of their lives unlike the take it for granted attitude that can result from a steak nicely wrapped in the supermarket, is taken to the checkout to be scanned, taken home and eaten.

I used to hunt and I can confirm there is nothing whatsoever beautiful or noble about it.

300 yards is about right if you try to get closer they will fucking catch you and they won't stop running for a mile or more.
