hah I've seen (and smelled) the LOVE at the circus. I don't really care for the circus, except for the clown cars.

I've never seen and smelled the LOVE at the local carnival. I've only been to half-ass carnivals, probably. No traveling elephants...Smiley_emoticons_slash

Well, my carnival experiences haven't been quite so adventurous. Just surreal enough to be entertaining.

I do avoid the Mirror Maze, just to be safe. Awink

I don't mind the carnival. I don't do the rides because they make me sick, so I let the older kids run around while we sit there and drink beer and eat. It's not bad. I'd rather not go to the circus, however, because I'm pretty sure they abuse the animals.

My kids have never been to the circus because of how they treat the animals. Zoos are bad enough. This carnival doesn't have animals, unless you count the carnies.
Just shut up. Just shut the fuck up right now.

If you really want to see animal abuse visit the Zonkies of TJ.

Unlike their counterparts, the zebras at least get the occasional sugar cub and carrot.

Seems like the donkeys might want to be counterparts more than the zebras.

For those of you who haven't had the pleasure, Tijuana has donkeys painted like zebras you can have your Polaroid taken with for a dollar or so. At least they did before they started machine gunning tourists.

TJ has gotta be one of the worst places for a donkey, in terms of sheer exploitation factor. Not only for the zonkey polaroid humiliation. Then again, they're not expected to trek up long mountainous paths carrying a person and basket of heavy shit on their backs there either.

Maybe edgier donkeys with a dark side would actually prefer TJ. Matter of lifestyle preference, I imagine.

Oh I don't know about that - I know there's at least one...job...in TJ that pretty darn good for a donkey.

You cannot assume tacos are beef in TJ. Odd texture.

Never saw a show and wouldn't care to, but gotta imagine it's an unwanted form of work for some donkeys - day after day, on demand, with a lot of filthy drunks watching. But, for a seedier donkey, hey, it's a job...

Begs the question, do the donkeys ever get a day off and if so, what do they do for entertainment?

I would think if they could read and write and work a computer, they might be reading this inquiry right now!
How's that for the beginnings of an Alanis Morissette single?

But now, its a big racket. No more single tickets for rides, you must purchase a ride-a-rama band at $17 a pop, so unless you ride everything, its hardly worth it. There isn't a single game under $5 and if you win, its cheap dollar store shit, no more throwing darts at posters for $1. I spent $50 alone last year for fried dough, lemonade, sausage sandwiches and fries. My youngest is crazy about going but my teenager says he'd rather spend his money elsewhere. Also, the town is loaded with carnies that steal, get drunk, get in fights and generally cause a bunch of trouble. We'll probly go over once this year but holy crow. What are your thoughts on local festivals? Do you go or would you rather someone poke something sharp into you and break it off?

With places like Disney World and other huge stationary amusement parks I didn't really take my kids to carnivals...just a rip.
