Fuck, if I ever get that fat, I won't hesitate to put a bullet in my brain.

Well, be prepared as it'll take more than one bullet to get the job done at that point.

Even with a .50 caliber elephant gun?

You live that close to Vermont? I thought you were in Albany.

We're not talking maple syrup.
Ammo is shipped over state lines.

I am lost. Who is supposed to live in Vermont instead of Albany based on maple syrup consumption, again?

There was a big huff about Black Talon bullets some years back. I think the real deal is people people get upset and scared when something is black and has a scary name. Prefragmented ammo at home and a good, fairly light, fast HP bullet will work as good or better IMO. I know slow/heavy guys who won't ever shut up about it but none of us has ever shot anyone so wtf knows. AFAIK lots of people get killed by plain old .22's or 9mm ball.

As I said - awesome product design. And it's not like Winchester ceased to manufacture them after all the hoohaa, either.
Isn't there some joke how the 'sxt' in Ranger SXT stands for 'same exact thing'?

You know how I think about lines drawn randomly - if I'd be intent on killing someone with a gun, I would succeed by aiming correctly. What kind of bullet I use to do so is pretty much a technicality, imo.

I use Cor bon for performance but I switch them out for diffent situations. Magsafe and Glaser are the prefrags I use for HD so I don't shoot through wall or down the street without intending to.

BUT

If someone comes out with something better or something that works as well for cheaper, cor bon, magsafe and glaser can suck it.

Hydroshocks are pretty snazzy. I think I heard the fibbi's use them or used to. Trying to cheat the ol' penetration v. energy dump problem I surmise.

You mean the stuff from Federal Cartridge? I think I read about them somewhere. What's their secret?

I've heard two stories - Not sure which is true -

The little post thingy in the center of the bullet is supposed to direct hydraulic pressure against the inside of the HP cavity insuring maximum expansion.

Or

The little post thingy helps the bullet continue to penetrate after expansion partially negating the trade off between energy dump and penetration.

I think the former is more likely than the latter. But I'm no scientist.

hm, I can see both explanations work. Since that ... tip... in the centre remains after expansion, I guess the penetration could be furthering penetration. I will ask a buddy of mine 'bout that, he's a nerd when it comes to stuff like that.

My hunch is the difference is negligible. 10% great new idea/90% bullshit hype.

In .40 cal. 135g burners ought to work pretty well. But again, plenty of folks get shot dead with ball.

Any port in a storm.
