I have seen the light

That is so cool to have made a river, Clad. I've done nothing on that scale. I did build an itty bitty dry creek bed & someone built me a small bridge to put over it. When it rains its ass off I have a stream that runs under it.

Of course I cheated a whole lot. Once it was channeled I just kept cutting roots so the moving water would carry away a lot of dirt. There are lots of ways to reduce the workload on any job and the best is to let mother nature do most of the real work. It's not much of a river and doesn't even flow all year every year but it handles a huge amount of flood water and that was much of the reason it was needed.

I spent years on it and now there are hardwood trees where there was once just scrub and swampy area. It started as a creek long ago but people filled it in with garbage and particulate runoff from farming. The town takes care of it now days but it could look like a park again with just a couple years work.

Every great civilization has had a few things in common. I think every couple hundred years a mutation occurs in humans that puts one ahead of the pack and advances things a few notches. In between we have wars that create new mutations. I think we have been on the down swing of things racing towards the bottom after all hell breaks loose it will go up again.
