What criteria do you set for the team to make it happen though? IQ based? Psychologically profiled? Socioeconomic? Good genes?

Yeah…

Well it happened again! Another mass shooting in Alabama at a birthday party last night!
It was reported at least 4 dead, and 20 injured. Facts Still fluid at this time.

WHEN THE HELL WILL IT EVER END?!

I used to drink Mickeys Big Mouth when it had had pulltab, guy across the street used to get me drunk on them, it took Three. His true red headed wife took my virginity at 14. One time he came home early and I had to jump over the block wall and run home naked.
What do y'all think when you see this?

These were taken at the NRA convention in Indianapolis this weekend.

I see two staged pictures . . . without context . . . other than being at an NRA event.   Vendors would be booted, if this wasn't staged.

The first one, kid with glasses and cap, I see a future murderer . . . from the Alec Baldwin school of firearms training . . . finger on the trigger and pointing a weapon at someone.  A loner and a loser, with dead eyes.  Possible Drag Queen or GOP politician . . . if he lives past 17 years old.

Picture two . . . a smart, grounded, XX chromo girl who knows exactly what she wants when she grows up and already knows basic firearm safety.  I see a future that will never require her getting a restraining order, against someone.  Possibly someone who, after going black, will never go blued, stainless or camo.

Other than that . . . I find both extremely disturbing and it makes me feel very uncomfortable.

Firearms are not toys or props for children.
I don't think anything bad because they clearly have safety latches on or whatever the yellow thing is. Tiki is right, they are staged and they are not loaded. Guns are a reality in the USA. It is part of your lives. You will never get rid of guns, that horse has bolted. Children probably do need to learn about the seriousness of guns and safety. Their phones do far more damage than guns if educated properly.

When everybody is dead.
It's a reality in your culture. Your guns are not going anywhere, you just have to put safety measures in place to ensure that it is as liveable as possible.
A lot of people want to blame mental health. That is just one small part of it. Not everyone w/ mental health issues is going around shooting people.

The best answer I have heard so far is that people who belong to a community do not go around shooting people either.

There seems to be a theme with failure in the person's family system also in regards to the mass shootings. But how do you repair family? You cannot.

There also seems to be a theme with the type of person that is most commonly doing the shooting, but I definitely won't point that out because, well no one has an answer to that either.

Some people in this country want to say it is someone else's problem, but really now it reaches everyone.
Societal dysfunctionality is the problem of everyone who cares about their society. Those who don't care about society are a big part of the problem.
More hot buttery monkey love, less mass murder.
Well . . . 5 people have now been arrested and charged with the murders at the Alabama Sweet 16 Birthday party.

Ages of murders: 16, 17, 19, 20, 20.  (Side note: The 16 and 17 year olds are brothers)

Choice of weapon:  Handgun

Purchased by murderers or relatives:  Not disclosed

Race of victims:  Black

Race of murderers:  Black

Previous criminal record(s): Not disclosed

Motive(s):  Not disclosed by LEO

Source:  CBS News

I'm thinking real hard of a law (or laws) that would have prevented this.

Alabama's gun laws prohibit anyone under the age of 18 to possess a handgun . . . with or without a license.

Alabama's gun laws prohibit anyone from selling, lending or giving a handgun . . . to anyone under 18.

And I'd like national statistical data regarding the races of shooters and victims . . . both in real numbers and as a percentage of population.

Aussie . .. you called it!  And I know your observation wasn't based on an emotional response.  The picture still horrifies me . . . a successful intended result, by the photographer.

I know . . . OK, I truly believe . . . you care deeply about children.  You and I both found our way to Mock because of a child.  And it is obvious, from your posts about "not so little anymore" Aussie.  On this point, I would be in your corner and defend it . . . with my last earthly breath.

Just thought I'd share with you the original caption that accompanied the photo . . . of the kid pointing the gun . . .  taken by the Reuters photographer.

"An attendee tries out a gun during the National Rifle Association (NRA) annual convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, April 15, 2023. REUTERS/Evelyn Hockstein"

And for context, an article about how the photograph came to be . . . for your perusal.

A picture may say a thousand words . . . but that doesn't mean they are truthful.

Parents . . . WATCH YOUR DAMNED KIDS!  You brought 'em . . . YOUR responsibility to keep an eye on them!

I remember a picture of a house with a sign in the front yard that said "my next door neighbor is a liberal".
There is no hiding that I am a 2nd Amendment supporter.  Unfortunately, that being said, there is a blanket supposition that I (read anyone with the same convictions) am against ANY negative regulatory changes, regarding firearms.

I haven't read the bill nor do I have any knowledge of what other types of rifles Florida prohibits those under 21, from purchasing.

However . . . I just wish they would focus on prosecuting criminals who commit crimes with firearms SEVERELY and without the possibility of tossing out gun charges.

I would like to see laws criminally charging those who provided the weapons, to the offenders, with the same severe penalties as if they, themselves, committed the crime, too.

Stolen gun . . . adds 15 years to any sentence.

I'm tired of firearm offenses either being dropped or reduced, during plea negotiations.

Simply put:  Don't ask for more restrictive firearm purchase laws when you fail to enforce the ones, currently on the books, enacted to allegedly keep the public safe and prevent crime.

This opinion is NOT an endorsement of the Florida AR-15 bill.
