I've got my Glock 19 in my shopping cart but fuck if there aren't a lot of decisions to be made...sights,slide lock, Crimson trace (rear activation adds another $239!).

What's Crimson trace?

N/M...I'm just going to select "stock set up" for everything and see how far I can get with this.

ETA: I did have to select the Storm Lake Match Barrel at $145. It sounded too cool to pass up.
Fucking California!! "This item cannot be shipped to this location".

That's it, I'm moving.

Don't fret, have them mail it to me in NE, and then I will forward it to you!
(No really I will, or maybe I will, no, no I will.) hah

IMO: It seems like there weren't so many rampant shootings year ago. Maybe that's because "there were sanitariums" for the mentally ill, where the ill were kept locked up, so they did not harm others. Over the years, due to monetary cost cutting, most if not all the sanitariums were done away with. Consequently, today the mentally ill now roam the streets! And we all know what happens if and when the mentally ill get hold of a gun, mass destruction. The gun was just the tool, the mentally ill, was the actual killer! That needs to change.
Bring back the sanitariums, may be part of the answer.

See how simple it is!

Don't allow internet purchase of firearms.

No matter where you live.

Charge a federal fee for transfers between non FFL holders.

FFS! Treat it as if it were the sale of an automobile.

This ain't rocket science.

And . . . let the NRA put pressure on the administration to do more about the mental health crisis and prosecution of felons.

If it's the government's responsibility to keep us safe, DO SOMETHING ABOUT THAT!

We'll give illegal immigrants driver's licenses and, in some areas, offer them "sanctuary" from ICE but I can't buy a stupid gun off the internet. Go figure.

PS: truth is, I support background checks so it's appalling to me that in many other states, apparently with a few clicks, any wacko out there can get their hands on a gun. California simply won't allow them shipped here...better if the rules nationwide involved a freaking background check instead. Smiley_emoticons_slash

Yeah . . . that worked out great in SC and Louisiana.

Tennessee, too.

And Chicago and Baltimore and Philly . . .
The funeral of Lance Corpral Skip Wells was held this afternoon in Woodstock. The overwhelming support for him and his family was amazing. The church is about 5 minutes from my house. All the surrounding roads were closed. Thousands of people lined the roads and saluted the procession. It was the most amazing and sad thing I've ever seen.

A lot of people commented on social media that Obama wasn't here. Personally, I think his presence would have taken away the focus on Skip.

I can't bring to mind all the cases you're referring too but in the most recent case, didn't the guy buy his gun at a pawnshop sans a background check? There will ALWAYS be ways around these things but I don't think people anywhere ought to legally purchase a weapon (at a pawn shop, gun show or online) without a background check. And I think it would have to be nationwide to have even a small impact. It's not like it's difficult to drive to some other state to buy the gun of your choice and bring it home.

Yeah, yeah, bad guys and mentally ill people could/would find ways to get a gun but I don't think we need to make it so easy and legal for them to do so. Make them steal their guns or arrange for someone to buy it for them.

On the flip side, why bother having gun shops conduct a background check if they aren't required across the board? It's not really "fair" to those that are required to conduct them.
I know I have said this before but background checks in theory would help they are really just a feel good thing.
For instance, a federal background check is not a requirement once a person has a permit to carry. The background check is conducted at the time the permit is applied for so no further checks are required. Now that's not a big deal until you get into states that have multiple year permits. For instance my state has a 5 year permit. So if a person clears the BG check and gets the permit he is good for 5 years. So, lets say they commit a crime and are convicted with a felony charge in the first year. Then lets say they are sentenced to 10 years. Well the way the jails are those 10 years actually end up being 3 years or less after good behavior comes into the situation. So they are released after those 3 years, put there old wallet back in their pocket and head out into society. They still have a permit that says it is good for a couple more years. They can go out and buy weapons using that permit to skirt the system and no one will be the wiser because the form 4473's do not get sent into the ATF. They simply are filed into the dealers filing cabinet for 20 years and then get disposed of.
So long story short a convicted felon can use the system against itself and still buy firearms and no one would know. Now that being said if all the states instated constitutional carry laws and did away with the permits to carry , everyone would then be forced to do a BG check at the time of the purchase. So in that case Constitutional carry would be a good thing for the people screaming for BG checks.
Another Movie Theater Attack -- Tennessee

[Image: 635743874742157132-NAS-cinema-shooting-001.JPG]

It's been two weeks since the crazy asshole in Louisiana shot two women dead at the theater.

Today, a 51-year-old man attacked movie-goers at a showing of Mad Max at the Hickory Hollow Carmike Theater in Nashville. He had a gun, a hatchet, and pepper spray. He pepper sprayed two women and cut an elderly man before police arrived on the scene (some movie-goers ran out and alerted nearby officers).

The assailant shot at a responding officer who then returned fired and shot the (yet unidentified) assailant dead.

SWAT is on the scene. Police found two backpacks, one on the suspect and one left in the theater. About 3:30 p.m., officials said they will detonate the bags at the scene to make sure they are safe.

No, I don't think it's available yet. It just hit the theaters at the beginning of the summer.
The world is going to hell in a hand basket, one murderous killing spree at a time! 76
New and Corrected Details - Nashville Theater Attack

On Wednesday night, the Nashville police identified the suspected attacker as Vincente David Montano, 29 (pictured above). Earlier in the day, police believed the attacker was 51.

While authorities had initially described Montano as a gunman and said he had a firearm, on Wednesday night the Nashville police said it turned out he actually had an airsoft pistol — a replica that can shoot pellets or BBs — rather than a real gun.

Montano was wearing a surgical mask during the attack when he was shot dead escaping from the theater.

I wonder if Montano was looking to suicide-by-cop? Anyway, I'm glad he's the only one who wound up dead.

The asylums are closed, therefore "they" walk among us! hah

They sure do and we should be petrified.
It's too bad that the Nashville theater assailant was not in treatment; he appears to have been genuinely very ill.

Police have revealed that Montano had a history of mental illness, including paranoid schizophrenia, and had been committed four times.

A spokesman for the Nashville Metro Police Department said he suffered 'significant psychiatric or psychological issues' and had been arrested in 2004 for assault and resisting arrest.

Police said that Montano's mother, Denise Pruit, filed a missing persons report with Texas rangers two days ago. She hadn't seen Montano in person since 2013
