I did this jean size thing online at macys and they would only give me plus size jeans. I wear an 8/10. Is that plus size these days?

Yes. Today's 8-10 is yesterday's 14-16. Generally speaking, clothing manufacturers are adjusting sizes because of the general weight gain in America.
