People will be bringing orange and blue balloons to the bridge in the Scurry County town of Dunn. Those who cannot make the trip have said they will be releasing balloons from wherever they are at the same time.
Dunn, TX - A month and half into the investigation of the disappearance of 13-year-old Hailey Dunn, the only named suspect in the case is breaking his silence.
Shawn Adkins spoke exclusively to KTAB-TV giving what he calls his version of the truth.
Adkins claims most of the information in the affidavits wasn't accurate. He said his lawyer advised him not to talk to media or police.
"I just felt like it was a witch hunt at the time and they were just trying to pin it on somebody which was me. I didn't want that happening so I just stopped talking to them," he said.
Since reportedly failing a polygraph exam on Wednesday, January 5, Adkins has stayed away from media interviews. He's been traveling between Dunn and Big Spring and staying with relatives.
Adkins is the boyfriend of Hailey's mother, Billie Dunn. He's also the last person to see Hailey on the afternoon of December 27, 2010 in Colorado City.
Though Adkins is the only named suspect, authorities say they have several other persons of interest.
KTAB asked Adkins to explain some of the disturbing information in the affidavits released last month. We also asked him about making threats towards both Billie and Hailey Dunn.
"I never made any threats toward Hailey. It was just toward Billie," said Adkins.
We asked why investigators said he claimed to go straight to Big Spring after leaving work the morning of the 27th but phone records show he was in Colorado City.
"They never asked specific places I went," said Adkins. "They go, 'where did you go Monday when Hailey supposedly disappeared' and I told them I went to Big Springs which is where I was at. They didn't ask did you go to your mom's house or anything like that? They just asked where I was so they could verify that," added Adkins.
We also asked Adkins to explain the serial killer and mass murder literature found in the room he shares with Billie Dunn. Adkins says it is just a hobby they have.
"I don't see the difference in me collecting that than somebody collecting Star Wars memorabilia," added Adkins.
Throughout the interview Adkins maintained his innocence and says his story hasn't changed along the way.
Dunn, TX - The only suspect in the disappearance of Hailey Dunn tells KTAB's Tiffany Tatro he feels like the victim of a witch hunt by law enforcement.
"I feel like it's a stereotype. My main thought on it is that it's a witch hunt," said Adkins.
PART ll
On Monday, Shawn Adkins broke his silence about the case in an exclusive interview with KTAB's Tiffany Tatro. Prior to this, Adkins had declined all media interview since reportedly failing a polygraph exam on Wednesday, January 5.
Adkins is the boyfriend of Hailey's mother, Billie Dunn. He's also the last person to see Hailey on the afternoon of December 27, 2010 in Colorado City.
Though Adkins is the only named suspect, authorities say they have several other persons of interest. As the suspect, Adkins feels he's being unfairly targeted.
"It's been chaotic. People have driven by this residence and screamed obscenities to me and it's been really hard," said Adkins.
For more than a month, Adkins has largely stayed indoors. He's traveled between Dunn and Big Spring, but hasn't ventured out much beyond that.
"I'm just tired of, you know, staying behind closed doors," said Adkins. "I'm just ready to get out there and live my life again."
KTAB News asked Adkins to clear up questions regarding disturbing 9-1-1 calls released earlier this year. In the calls, Billie Dunn claims Adkins threatened to kill her. Additionally, Adkins called authorities in Snyder and told them Billie was suicidal.
"Billie and I were having problems," said Adkins. "That same day, I do believe, we were just having problems and I just felt like Billie was going to harm herself. I just felt obligated to call the police and let them know and maybe do a welfare check."
"Me and Billie had a rocky relationship, but we always worked things out," added Adkins.
Adkins claims his problems with Billie were never taken out on Hailey. He says he and the 13-year-old girl had a good relationship.
"I love Hailey with all my heart, and she means a lot to me," said Adkins.
Last month, bigcountryhomepage.com released disturbing images of Adkins wearing a horror mask and acting out violent scenes. The images and video were picked up by Nancy Grace. Adkins says it's not hard to explain why the pictures were easy to track down.
"I took those pictures for Halloween," noted Adkins. "It was me and a family member taking those pictures. I don't dress up like that everyday."
KTAB asked Adkins if his collection of horror movie memorabilia was a reflection on his character.
"I wouldn’t say it does at all," said Adkins. "There's plenty of my friends I talk to on the internet. They're into the same thing. They take pictures like they found of me everyday and I don't think there's anything wrong with that."
Despite claims of innocence, Adkins admits he can see why he would be looked at as a suspect.
"I have an idea, but I think it's unfair," noted Adkins. "This could happen to anybody -- what's happening to me. How would they feel if they were in my shoes?"
Tatro asked if Adkins knew anything about Hailey's disappearance he's not telling police. "If I knew anything, I would definitely tell them," said Adkins.
Adkins stands by his innocence and says he wants what everybody else does: to see Hailey come home.
"Shawn Adkins, did you have anything to do with Hailey's disappearance or do you know anything more?" asked Tatro.
Only three volunteers showed up Saturday to search miles of countryside for Hailey Dunn, the 13-year-old missing since December 27.
In spite of the discouragement in the Civic Center, volunteer search coordinator Kristy Lloyd remained hopeful.
“Even though our search numbers are dwindling our hope has not faded that we will find Hailey Dunn alive,” she said. “I see in people’s faces they are starting to lose hope and frustration is growing. What we need from you right now is to not give up hope. Hailey is still out there somewhere. She needs to be brought home to safety”
LC, do you know if Billie has been active in actually searching for Hailey? I've been following this story since day one, personally I think she's dead and Shawn's involved. I hope I'm wrong. He just really creeps me out.
I have a daughter and I know that I would be out there day in and day out until I found her.
I think Billie mentioned that she isn't working, so what is she doing with her time? I hope they find this little girl, and she's alive but I doubt that's the case.

parents should not search, as who knows what they might find. it would be awful for one to find a body.
all i have seen her do is go on TV and lie through her teeth. i don't know if she does fliers.

COLORADO CITY, Texas -- Nearly seven weeks after the disappearance of 13 year old Hailey Dunn, her father Clint Dunn is frustrated with police as he continues to search for his daughter.
"I haven't talked to them in three weeks, I don't know what their (THEY'RE) doing." said Dunn Saturday.
Clint Dunn expressed his frustration with how tight lipped authorities are being about the investigation of his missing daughter.
Clint told KTXS "They haven't called me or nothing. Last time I went up there, I talked to them three weeks ago was the last time they have gotten a hold of me."
Colorado City officials have assured KTXS that they plan to get in tough with Hailey's parents if there is a big break in the case, so far that hasn't happened.
Hailey's mother Billie Dunn has told us, police do call her every now and again.
Billie has also told KTXS she now "talks regularly" with the only named suspect in the case, Shawn Adkins.
Clint told KTXS how he felt about that "I don't like it, I really can't say much about it but I don't like it."
As for the search for Hailey Dunn nears the two month mark, father Clint remains hopeful and thankful so many people have stopped their lives to search for Hailey, "I'm very happy. I'm glad that there (THEY'RE) trying to help and it's amazing that a person they have never met, effect (AFFECT) them so much."
One volunteer with kids of her own, relates to his pain and heartache.
Shorid Henderson told us "I have a fourteen year old daughter and that's what has kind of made me come over from Sweetwater."
Saturday the spirit around the headquarters for volunteers remains high.
Henderson told KTXS "It's a sad cause and hopefully it will end great, cause were going to bring Hailey home."
With warmer temperatures this week, more volunteers have joined the search and Henderson says she will continue to show up, as she hopes others would do the same for her.
Henderson "I would want the same for my daughter and it's great and I think we still need more people."
KLASS Kid and Laura Recovery Center will return with their own personnel and equipment for the search of thirteen year old Hailey Dunn next week.
Missing Colorado City, Texas girl Haily Dunn's mother, Billie Jean Dunn, claims police told her Brian Keith Glasco is a person of interest in her daughter's disappearance who they have been unable to locate. If you know Brian's whereabouts, please call the Colorado City Police Department: (325) 728-5294
That's some crazy shit to get arrested & thrown in jail for.
more...he's on a sabbatical. haha
Clint Dunn, 33, told the Reporter-News that he planned to go “sit out a few days in jail,” so he could be credited for some fines associated with probation violation and several warrants.
Dunn turned himself in at the Scurry County Jail on Feb. 15 for a county court commitment. According to jail officials the current charges include a probation violation for possession of marijuana, expired drivers license and unsafe backing.
The charges are not associated in any way with his daughter’s case, who has been missing for almost two months.
“He is getting out in the morning,” said his girlfriend Naomi Stewart. “He thought it would be a good place to be alone and think.”
Big search by the official search teams this weekend. They found the exact same thing as the 'non-actual' searchers, nothing. Seems they are all losing focus on what they are there for. One thinks they search better'n the other, I think they need to remember what the fuck they are there searching for.
I admit, I see some merit in investigating the human trafficking angle. It was just before Super Bowl, which is a giant order form for young girls. To say nothing of the fact that Mexico is only a stone's throw away from here. I sometimes wonder if Adkins sold her to pay the drug debt. I had that thought early on, when the bit about him talking on the phone & watching her from her bedroom doorway came out. Was he sizing up the merchandise?
I keep hoping to hear some 'new' news. So far, no luck with that.

Dogs are searching the landfill in Big Spring this afternoon looking for clues in the disappearance of Hailey Dunn, according to Colorado City city manager Pete Kampfer.
Investigators are searching the landfill as part of the elimination process of search areas.
The search may be related to follow ups on a combination of both new leads and old leads, Kampfer said.
as far as i know, bodies of water have not been dived/searched yet. duh.

BigCountry.com:
Freda Radcliff is one of "Hailey's Angels," a group of six who organized a volunteer appreciation dinner this weekend for search crews combing through the fields for the missing Colorado City teen.
"We weren't appreciated for what we tried to do for them," said Radcliff.
Radcliff says there's only one way to describe it.
"A big fiasco," she said.
The culprit, a video created by "Hailey's Angels" that chronicled search efforts from the 13-year old's disappearance to now.
"They showed me, Clint, our family, little kids who were there, video of where they go to search in these ugly fields and these ugly creeks for our baby," said Billie Dunn, Hailey's mother.no. they should search the mall.
Hailey's mother says for her, the hour-long video tribute stirred some negative emotions. She did not like how her daughter's story was presented.
"We're hoping to find Hailey alive," Dunn said, "that's what we want, we don't want to be associated with that."
Volunteers say a search crew member trained by one national agency asked "Hailey's Angels" to turn off the video halfway through.
"We will never do anything like that again," said Radcliff.
"Although it was mostly 'Klaaskids' and 'Team Amber' that showed up they weren't recognized at all," said Dunn.
Dunn says she knows that "Hailey's Angels" maintain Hailey's bridge in Dunn, Texas everyday, but says the feeling she got at the appreciation dinner made her uneasy.
"They are hoping that Shawn [Adkins] did something horrible to Hailey," said Dunn, "and that they're going to prove it, and prove it to me."
"We are not out here for Billie Jean," said Radcliff, "we are out here for Hailey, always have been and for nobody else."
Radcliff and the rest of "Hailey's Angels" say they wish everyone luck, but for now...
"As for our search efforts, we're finished," she said.
After 8-weeks of searching everyday, Radcliff says it's time to get back to their own lives.
While "Hailey's Angels" are no longer searching the area, trained volunteers with national search agencies like Klaaskids, The Laura Recovery Center, and Team Amber will help lead search parties every Friday and Saturday.

The mother of the missing Colorado City teen believes her child was abducted within a six-block area of their home in the Mitchell County community.
“I think some stranger came in and took her,” said Billie Jean Dunn Tuesday afternoon. “That’s been my gut feeling from the beginning”.
She added that her daughter, 13-yearold Hailey Dunn, could not have been coerced to get in a stranger’s car. “She had to be forced in.”
“I told her not to leave the house that day, but she did. She could have been walking to a store, or to play basketball,” Billie Dunn added.
The girl was reported missing since Dec. 28 and has been the subject of an intense search effort by law enforcement officials and private groups.
But one of the groups, Hailey’s Angels, drew the ire of the mother during a Saturday evening event termed an appreciation dinner for searchers.
“KlaasKids and Laura Search Group didn’t know about it and apparently weren’t invited,” said the mother. “We just heard about it and just went. None of our family was invited.”
It was held at the Snyder American Legion, and according to Billie Dunn, focused primarily on the group Hailey’s Angels.
“It was all about them and not much to do about Hailey,” she added. “They showed pictures of themselves at Dunn, in creek beds and out in fields. There was not much about Hailey. They even showed off one of their group’s BMW. “There were kids in there crying (at the American Legion) and there was drinking going on,” she said.
She said she and her former husband, Clint, were singled out by one of the organizers of the event, Freda Radcliff, as they were leaving after viewing about only 15 minutes of the slide show.
“She confronted us about leaving saying she had spent two days putting the slide show together. She also told me that she goes out everyday looking for my daughter and that I haven’t searched yet. But what she doesn’t know is that I just can’t go looking for Hailey in creeks and fields,” she added.
“That dinner could have been a really nice thing, but it turned out horrible. I just wonder why it had to be on a Saturday night at a bar.
She added that Hailey’s Angels had been invited to join KlaasKids in the search “at least a dozen times,” but have refused to join.
“I used to try to defend them, but I can’t anymore,” she said.
She added that the group also became crossways with her because she hasn’t been able to provide money for gas.
“I wish I could give everybody gas money, but I haven’t worked in a month and a half. There is an account set up at City National Bank (in Colorado City) for the searchers, but I don’t know anything about it,” she added.
“I wanted to set out jars or something to raise money for the searchers, but then I was told about the account so we didn’t.”
This weekend, she and her ex-husband will be in Dallas to address a human trafficking awareness group.
“This should help spread the word about Hailey even further, and there will be a web page set up known as hopeforhailey.com.
“There won’t be any blogging where people can talk trash. This will be the only Internet site where you can get mine and Clint’s exact words, and we’ll keep it updated.”
She says she is still in touch with law enforcement officials, but not on a daily basis.
“I call every now and then and they all tell me they’ll let me know if there is anything big,” she said.
She added that she and her former boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, do “hang out together. “We find comfort in each other and he, along with Clint, love Hailey and want her back safely.”
Adkins is the only named suspect in the disappearance.
“But I know Shawn had nothing to do with Hailey’s disappearance,” she added.
