Johnny S. Clarke & Lisa Straub- young Ohio couple murdered
hi. i'm new to posting here but as a toledo native, i've been following the case from the start. my family knew the straubs when i was very young (i am not claiming to know them well enough to answer and questions about them) and the case is truly a sad one. as others have said, once i found Mock i have not read much else... you truly do run a wonderful site.
so... i am pretty sure that i've read the majority of the thread BUT if i did indeed miss something that's already been discussed, i apologize.
there is something i'm very curious about... on the 31st my mom sent me a link to the story the blade had on their site. (i for the life of my cannot find a working copy of it now!) it was basically just a cover of the general story... what happened etc. but there was a girl that was at the house and quoted in the article. i do not remember word for word what she said but basically that she had received a facebook message from LS late the night before saying she wanted her to come over and hang out. i think she said she noticed the messages in the morning but then couldn't get in touch with LS so she stopped over at the house and then when hearing about the murder feared that it had been LS that was one of the victims. this girl said she and LS grew up together. i'm not saying she had anything to do with the murder but i haven't heard anything about this girl since. i'm just wondering if anyone else knows anything about this. it seems strange she received facebook messages from LS late the night of the murder about coming over if TW and Z were the only ones going over there. unless she meant she got them the previous night when they had supposedly had a party.
does anyone know anything about this or have a link or copy of that article where she is mentioned?

thanks for having me on mock!

I wouldn't put too much into the statement on cell phones. Maytee said it while screaming at an inept 911 operator who was asking dip-shit questions.

the reason i bring it up again is its in the same conversation as "finding LS topless. Trying to to measure its veracity.

and i agree Lisa's uncle has some smarts about what he should reveal.

My only concern with Lisa's uncle, is that in his latest interview he mentioned that they had some people willing to contribute big money to the reward fund, if needed. Now why would you put that out there?? Wouldn't you think that would make someone hold off on confessing/snitching?? Certainly they would be happy with 10K, but why bother when they now know they can hold out for BIGGER money????

This concerned me.

It shouldn't. Money is a strong motivator. More money may get someone to tell what they know. It's was held out there like a carrot on a stick.

I agree with Aileen. I had to shake my head when I heard him say that. Yes money is a strong motivator, which is the reason for the reward to begin with BUT why would someone tell all they know when hearing that if they wait a bit longer they stand to gain more with their information. He should have either left that part out or announced that the pot had officially been raised. Now I believe that if there is a person with info willing to come forward they will wait for the reward to increase.

maybe LS uncle should have announced that police have received some calls offering information in attempts to claim the reward money" that may get one perp riled up thinking "hey i'M getting sold out for 10k...maybe i should flip for that 10k on someone else first.

Curious to what LC thinks about this...do you think it was some tactic, or information he shouldn't have brought up?

I believe the girl (a neighbor) was on the news. She made a general statement about getting a message about gathering with LS soon. I don't think it was a "come over tonight" invite, but I could be wrong.

I'm not LC. But I wonder if they want the perps to get comfortable.

Yes, I saw the girl too, SM, and I have to agree with Netsleuth she just said she had received a FB message from LS and didn't reveal the content.

Wow! What kind of person/people can watch someone suffer for that long?? Makes me sick!

I recall it was briefly discussed here but I don't recall specifics as to when the so called late night message occurred, sorry.

thanks to you both! i guess either my memory is not working correctly, i made assumptions based on what i read or another likely possibility... The Blade worded things differently than the news report! Awink it doesn't always have the best reputation of being extremely accurate. ha!

I believe she may have said "he's (Johnny is) shirtless" and people thought she said "she's shirtless"? I could be wrong, but that's what I gathered after listening to the 911 call. The call was chaotic and had some background static, so it's difficult to say if MV said he or she. But I'm guessing she said "he" as in Johnny given the reports are conflicting.

I think it was there at one point and then removed. Here's a bit from a google search:

Authorities investigate double homicide of young man, woman in ...
Jan 31, 2011... described herself as a longtime friend of 20-year-old Lisa Straub, ... She said Lisa had left a message on her Facebook page sometime ...
www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20110131/... - Cached

The cached file is no longer there. The article with that ID# is accessible but no longer contains that part of the story. I wonder if LE asked them to remove it for some reason.

That was my take after listening to the 911 calls. I may be wrong, but I thought her comment could be taken either way. Of course, I defer to those with inside information on this. Just tossing out the possibility.

Once again, my heart goes out to the family and friends of Johnny and Lisa, who may be reading here.

I foolishly keep checking in, in hopes of reading someone has been arrested. Smiley_emoticons_slash

That's what I thought it said too!

Heartbreaker: If you go to page 1 of this thread, 34 down the page there is a video of the Lady Police officer, and Lisa's friend is on that video, at the end talking about the FB message. That's the only place I've seen the friend.

this may also be insignificant but i found it interesting. there was a girl that posted to the RIP johnny site on wednesday that said "i need you here. it was supposed to be us in the future. i love u. this song describes how i feel. i'll never be the same. i lost my other half." it could be NOTHING (just an old girlfriend remembering someone important to her)... but it made me consider the possibility that LS and JC didn't have the good relationship that has been claimed by a few people. maybe he wasn't a one woman man? could meet with the possibility of a "jealousy" motive. we haven't really heard or talked about that as a possibility... was JC a "faithful" boyfriend? anyone know?

The site is back up without the questions and answers and no mention of this site at all that I can find anyway.
