But now you are making an outrageous generalization. I have contended from the beginning that this is a small-time operation run by the Sheriff, and that it would be so much better if the Detective Bureau of the City of Toledo Police Department was involved instead. We have an excellent Bureau there, including a great dedicated cold case division.
Although I personally have never worked for government, I have over the years encountered many hard-working dedicated public servants, such as those in the police, fire and teaching professions, and I don't buy this garbage about "feeding at the public trough."
How about those who "feed at the private trough" drawing down outrageous incomes for minimal, incompetent work? In fact, aren't they also feeding at the same place, since their outrageous incomes in private industry are being paid on the backs of the consumer's cost of living when buying industry's products?
Don't generalize. Most people in the police, fire and teaching professions have as much or more training, education and experience as those in private industry, if not more.
At least in the private sector, you have more competitive pressures that act as a set of balances. Remember that with government employees, the trough-feeding never stops. Retirement. Check. Insurance paid for life. Check. These benefits are not available solely for the executives. These benefits are available for everyone in the system. Employees are rarely disciplined and rarely fired. Everyone in the system tries to cover up any mistakes.
There are, obviously, good and bad employees in any sector. What government employees lack in any significant size, is any force to hold them accountable. LE arrests the wrong person, an innocent man, and ruins his career? Too bad. There are generally, NO repercussions to LE in a circumstance such as this.
The LE officer who made the instigation statement completely missed the point. The point is there are killer(s) on the loose who have not been found and this puts everyone at risk. THAT is what he and his department are paid to do: find a killer.

Insert Maytee, I feel like the perps have been to her house looking for JC prior to the murders explaining the main reason he was living at the Straubs. Going further, as I stated earlier, to me, the method of murder is FAR from being considered ameature and more along the lines of a underground drug ring whose primary goal was to collect dept and making a bold statement...JC promised a much larger return on investment and didn't deliver. Unfortunately it's hard to ignore the fact JC was involved with committing two armed robberies, there's no telling one's capable of next...just my personal opinion.

Actually that quote comes from a couple of friends of mine who are successful, and well-respected, defense attorneys. I'll never forget the day, however, when one of the friends made that statement. I was floored but I have come to realize, over the years, that there is a great deal of truth to it.

My understanding is that pot was lobbied as dangerous by the director of <don't remember name of agency> that at the time was in charge of stopping booze during prohibition. As prohibition was being repealled that director realized he would soon be out a job, so he creataed a new enemy for him to chase. It was an easy sell to congress since only minoritys were using pot then.
It does indeed go something like that. So now we're borrowing money from the Chinese to enforce laws that, quite honestly, don't make a whole lot of sense. Not necessarily drug laws but a lot of other laws.
