Johnny S. Clarke & Lisa Straub- young Ohio couple murdered
This is my first post in this thread....altho I have been reading for some time now.

Just a thought about the beads. This past weekend was the start of Mardi Gras. Many bars and clubs give away Mardi Gras beads. Perhaps that's the type of beads they are referring to?

I'd think that before I'd think that a rosary was left. I think that's a good possibility. By the way, welcome to the board Smiley_emoticons_smile

Yes, EXACTLY what I was referencing Smiley_emoticons_wink

From what I saw, the beads could have been just wrapped around the statue instead of the "neck" of the angel. If it was done out of kindness, it was done in poor taste. I am sure if LE thought it was nothing...they wouldn't of taken the beads to check for fingerprints.

I can only assume there are MANY visitors to his grave site, someone left a gift. Yes, investigate the grave marker but taking the beads in for fingerprinting? Come on.

I think LE is thinking that whomever stole the gravemarker also placed the rope of beads around the neck of the statue. I don't blame them nor do I feel like it's an over reaction. Her son was murdered & someone stole his grave marker & left a gift in replacement (rope of beads) possibly the same person.

Yes, it may be the same person. Just a shame, anyone thinking of placing anything on the grave of a loved one may want to reconsider huh?

This is a link to the news channel. I couldn't find the interview on it. It might not be posted yet. Maybe you can find it on there.

I don't see it posted yet. Thanks again!

Here is the email list for contacts at WTOL news. I have already emailed the news director...if we keep asking them to stay on top of this story they will! When you read the story under the story there is a Rate this story with stars, click on it and give it a rating!! That way the see how many people are interested. I also mentioned that this was aired on NG and JVM with no updates what so ever, and that people all over the country were left with nothing on this case...So email the TV station, it might help!

As they say, "the pen is mightier than the sword." and I believe that!

My understanding from the family is that the injuries to the neck were most likely the result of very tight tape around the neck and the thrashing about of the victim while they were putting the tape on.

Watch this video and listen and watch how Maytee describes the way Johnny's head was taped...if this is a correct description, I think, that not only was there tape around his neck but completely around his whole face!! Watch the video and watch Maytee's hands while describing the tape..and see what you think??

Yes Kat I see that. She said the same thing on TV right after the murders. Probably to hasten death.

I just had a wierd and strange thought when I saw this pic. How many of you think that if this girl and her hefty boyfriend met the same fate as J and L would we be discussing it as much?? Just a curious thought.

Good point, Kitty - sad, but true. Another thought that occurred to me earlier is that we don't know what most other mockers look like; for all we know, this girl could be one of us.

I would be, why wouldn't anyone still be interested, because she's obese and that makes her less human, somehow! It was the manner of death that drew me to this case.
I've had the same thoughts as Kitty & 1 4 the road. Mostley because I continue to see people comment on how beautiful & handsome they were & I've thought.... what if they weren't beautiful & handsome? What if the were born homely, what if they were obese, or had some type of physical or mental disability? Would people care AS much? I think some people would still like to discuss it but I do think their beauty captured peoples attention as well.

and i agree that the physical beauty of the deceased young couple, as well as the bizarre manner of death, factors into the overwhelming interest in this case. it has all the elements of a compelling and tragic Romeo and Juliet story.
i need to be gone a few hours, see you later! i hope for news. Smiley_emoticons_wink

Yes, and the "Romeo Juliet" kind of thing, young lovers, did also attract me.

Welcome!!
You could be right, maybe somebody who use to party with Johnny, left the Mardi Gras beads...if they did, they shouldn't have taken the marker though, that is creepy, and that makes it seem like something more to me!

What you have just related to here is very troubling to me. Could the person relating this to you be exagerating or distorting this information because of the great pain they had from the loss of their loved one?

I don't like admitting this but after some thought I think there was probably a time in my life, as a teen, that I may have done something like that if the person was my dear friend. It's awful & certainly disrespectful but I can see a friend doing that.

It probably is something more but you never know if someone is wasted off their ass leaving the bar and feeling sad and sentimental. Who knows......this case is insane.

I believe that the gravemarker was indeed stolen. I don't think it was the perps. I think it was some hoodlum kids that like thousands of us think Maytee is hurting others with her behavior. I strongly believe that the beads were simply beads. Beads placed on the angel rather than just laying them on the ground. If you go to gravesites there are hundreds of momentos that people leave including strands of beads and rosarys and they are usually hung on something. I think Maytee is overreacting about the beads. She is indeed a victim but she enjoys playing the victim role. Some people do. I think the police took the beads in for fingerprints becuz Maytee probably threw a fit. We all know she had to go apeshit and demand that LE test them JMO

On top of that, why would TW have to call Sarita (sp?) to get in touch with Maytee if she was, according to her own account, with his BFF...one would think he would have her number. Lastly, I find it odd that JC, Sr. would get a ride to the Straub's home from the very person Maytee would accuse minutes later of setting her son up for murder...idk, more random thoughts that I can't find a logical explanation for...

Maybe Johnny's father had no wheels or no money for gasoline,TW just became a friend of Lisa's and probably had never met Maytee before - I think she got a hold of Sarita to ask for Maytee's number - I finally think Maytee was half out of her head or mind and took everything out on this TW.

I think TW might have "known" daddy ( John Sr) prior to that night, if ya get what I mean!

I said that before too that i think TW and JC SR. knew each other before she picked him up

I absolutely agree. I would not be surprised if one of Johnny's friends took the grave marker. I could see the situation happening, they're there visiting the grave site and think "it won't hurt". Kids sometimes make stupid decisions in the heat of the moment.

I'm sure Maytee made a bigger deal out of the beads than necessary, but if any of this helps lead to an arrest, then so be it. Seems to me LE is pulling at straws tho.

I mean how do they know for sure that the grave marker was stolen? We've had bad weather, maybe it was "blown away". Maybe the cemetery removed it for some reason (granted if that were the case they should have notified the family) I just don't get why it's immediately being said it was stolen. Also, the beads?? I do not see this as doing any harm at all! Someone was paying their respects. Maytee needs to get a grip. A serious grip. You can't take every single thing and turn it into an action against you!! What if someone placed a certain color flowers on the grave?? IS she going to turn that into some huge ordeal??? It's just not making sense to me.

Raisingaprince, I posted a link to the video both here & on the JC & LS facts thread. In the video they show a similiar marker. It wouldn not be possible for this marker to blow away. It looked like a thin slab of rock similiar to a permanent headstone. The GM of the cemetary was also interviewed. They did not remove the marker & no other markers were stolen or messed with.

Temporary grave markers are typically not made out of slab of concrete, they are in fact a "marker" which consists of a metal piece inscribed with the decedents information affixed to a metal post intended, hopefully, to be replaced with a headstone which costs typically in upwards of $200+. As I'm sure most can attest, temporary markers can and most often do get damaged or unintentionally displaced due to forces of nature, and in some cases groundskeeping can cause a marker to dismantle, as I can personally relate when my grandmothers marker was "missing" which was inadvertently a result of mowing the grass. Albeit, unlikely they would mow given there's snow in OH, but nonetheless a simple example at best.
