A mother stole $4,000 from the bank account of her son while he was on tour with the U.S. Marines in Afghanistan for six months, police said.

Paula Barker, 43, of Ormond Beach, Florida, allegedly bought a plane ticket and sent herself cash through money wire service Western Union.

Chadwick Barker, 20, was fighting abroad from February to September last year and returned home to find the money missing from his account.

He called the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office in October to say he thought his mother could be involved, reported the Daytona Beach News-Journal.

His mother got hold of the account information before he left and used it to steal the funds between July and September last year, police said.

Ms Barker was locked up in the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach, Florida, on $5,000 bond after she was arrested without incident.

I think she burnt the brows off bleaching them to match the hair. Lovely woman.

Stealing from your child; a child who is serving his country no less. Fucking low. Can't imagine having to call the PD to report my mom for commiting a crime against me. Sad.

That poor kid, to know his own mother would do this to him. Good for him to follow through with charging that low life bitch. I could never ask my child for a dollar let alone steal one. Poor, poor child. Bet his mother has always been a piece of shit. Proud of him for putting her in jail!

How many wives (or husbands) of service members do the same thing? It is legal, but it still sucks. You think you are going to have a bunch of money in combat pay saved up and you come home to nothing.

I have a story:
My daughter (she is 26) finished college when she was 24 (I paid for it). But after that she would hit me up every week for different things saying "Can I (borrow) 20 bucks?" sometimes it would be 10.00 sometimes 30.00
Well after 2 years of this "borrowing" I decided to cut the strings. I asked her last Fall if I could "borrow" her for a day or two. I had her paint my porch, clean the pool, rototill the garden, plant rye, pressure wash the house, all kinds of shit I did not want to do.
After a couple days of sweat she says........well what was that worth to ya? I laughed and said "let me think about that".
A week later she called and asked if I had an amount I could give her for all the work. I says "Well....I only borrowed you". so get back to me in a week. I think she got the message after awhile as she has not "borrowed" any money for about 6 months.
I guess this Mother just went for the big payoff.
He ain't heavy, he's my brother.

eh, i see it as being more of a selfish shady shitty thing to do (what Barker did, not you) her son is fighting for our country, in afghanistan and she finds out the account info and wires herself $4000...entirely without asking.

England

WHEN HER teenage son caught her having sex with his 15-year-old friend and the son reported the incident to school officials, Terri Mezzatesta came up with a wild story, police said.

Mezzatesta, who is 5 feet 9 and 260 pounds, claimed that she was passed out drunk and unaware that the 15-year-old was having sex with her, police said.

But cops didn't buy it because, according to her 14-year-old son - who'd allegedly heard his mother say, "Right there, baby" during the act - it was consensual.

Court documents of Mezzatesta's alleged crimes tell a sordid tale that includes wine coolers, pot and sexting.
On Nov. 12, the young boy with whom Mezzatesta allegedly had sex had come to her Upper Chichester home to hang out with his friend. According to interviews with that boy, police said that Mezzatesta smoked marijuana with him and her son for about two hours before her son passed out in his bedroom.

The teen said that he and Mezzatesta then watched television in the living room and that she bought him wine coolers, according to police.

While on the couch, Mezzatesta allegedly asked the boy if she could perform oral sex on him, an offer he accepted.

One thing led to another and the boy engaged in intercourse with Mezzatesta, during which she yelled the explicit exclamations, police said. That awoke her son, who entered the living room and allegedly saw an image he will probably never forget.

The son then punched his friend in the face and told him to leave. The boy did so, but he returned to Mezzatesta's house later that night and was allowed to stay.

Because the teen friend's phone was broken, Mezzatesta's son allowed him to borrow his phone for several days after the incident, police said. When Mezzatesta's son got his phone back, he saw sexual text messages between his friend and his mother, according to court documents.

That's when he reported the incident to school officials and police were called in to investigate.

Mezzatesta allegedly told police that she'd had five "mixed vodka" drinks that night, passed out on the couch and awoke to her son's friend on top of her.

By Associated Press, Saturday, March 3
AURORA, Colo. — Investigators say the 23-year-old mother of two children who were killed in a Colorado house fire left her kids alone for more than seven hours the night they died.

Aurora police Detective Lance Dyer testified during a preliminary hearing Friday that Danielle Lynn Brockman told investigators she left 3-year-old Timothy Joseph Ramirez and 15-month-old Alivia Ramirez at about 9:30 p.m. Oct. 29 to go out with friends. Dyer says she returned home at about 5 a.m. the next day to find that a fire had broken out and the smoke was so heavy she couldn’t get to the children.

Brockman told police she went to a house party, then the Montview Bar and Grill, then a friend’s house before heading home to find the fire already raging.

Her son, Timothy Joseph Ramirez, was pronounced dead on the way to a nearby hospital after police ripped steel burglar bars from the toddlers’ window to pull them from the home. His sister, Alivia Ramirez, died a few days later. Both children died from smoke inhalation and carbon monoxide poisoning, investigators said.

Funeral services for 3-year-old TJ Ramirez and his one-year-old sister Alivia were held Friday in Longmont, where Michael Ramirez, the children’s father, spent his last moments alone with his son and daughter before the service.

“I talked to both of them like as if they were still there,” said Ramirez. “I told TJ, “Watch your little sister…take care of your sister,” and I told Alivia, “Please don't let TJ get into too much trouble.””

About 300 mourners came to the church to remember the children.

Michael Ramirez says he has been working in Georgia to support his kids and has been trying to gain full custody of the children. He says he is heartbroken and angry about what has happened in the past week.

she's not yet in custody, i am waiting for a booking photo of the bitch.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – A 3-year-old girl from America's northernmost community died and her younger sister suffered hypothermia after their mother and the mother's boyfriend left them in a locked bedroom with a window open to a temperature of minus 30 degrees to air out the room because the girls wet their beds, authorities said.

The mother, 28-year-old elementary teacher Esther G. Edwards-Gust, was apparently on the lam Saturday, a day after she and 29-year-old Richard Tilden Jr. were indicted in the child's death. Tilden was in custody.

The couple shared a home with Edwards-Gust's 1- and 3-year-old daughters in the Inupiat Eskimo community of Barrow.

Police say the two girls last month were trapped overnight in their bedroom with a window open to temperatures that dropped to 30 degrees below zero. Both children were diagnosed with extreme hypothermia and flown to an Anchorage hospital, where the 3-year-old died.

Tilden later told authorities he'd been drinking the night before and opened the bedroom window to air out the room because the girls wet their beds, according to court documents. He also said the door's latch was broken, making it impossible for anyone inside the room to open it.

A grand jury on Friday indicted Tilden and Edwards-Gust on charges including manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide. Tilden also faces second-degree murder and assault charges. He was arrested last month.

A warrant has been issued for Edwards-Gust's arrest. Police didn't immediately return a message Saturday, and a home listing for Barrow's police chief was disconnected. A person who answered the phone at the borough jail said Edwards-Gust was not in custody there.

Tilden called 911 when he discovered the 3-year-old was unresponsive and not breathing Feb. 2.

Officers said Tilden smelled of alcohol when they were at the apartment, court documents said. The news was first reported by the Anchorage Daily News.

Tilden later said he bought two bottles of whiskey from a bootlegger and began drinking the night before the children were found in the bedroom with the open window and broken door latch, authorities said. Two empty bottles were found in the apartment.

Tilden also told officers he opened the bedroom window because the girls wet their beds, and he didn't close it before going to bed. In earlier interviews, Edwards-Gust told officers the girls were sleeping in their beds when she went to work that morning.

According to the documents, Tilden woke up about 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 2 and noticed both girls needed to be changed after soiling themselves. It was during the changing process that he noticed the older girl was unresponsive.

He was arrested the same day on assault charges. After being in police custody for hours, officers said his blood-alcohol level was 0.164, more than twice the legal driving limit.

Edwards-Gust, who teaches in Barrow, was briefly in custody after traveling to Anchorage to be with her surviving daughter.

Anchorage Police spokesman Lt. Dave Parker said Saturday that Edwards-Gust was initially arrested on assault charges, then set free at the request of the Barrow district attorney. Parker said he believed Edwards-Gust returned to Barrow.

edit to add: here she is.
