Not at all, if you can boil water and keep stuff clean you can make better beer than you can buy. If your interested go check out homebrewtalk.com. Lots to read and learn if you want to get serious. Youtube has some vids if you are just curious. There are only 4 ingredients to make beer: water, sugar, yeast and hops. There are many varieties of each of those, plus any kind of adjunct you can imagine
