Mickey Shunick, murdered. 22, La. vanished riding her bike
KATC

EquuSearch only left for a short time but they will be returning Wednesday to continue the search for Mickey Shunick.

There is also a new company in town that will also be aiding in the investigation. Special K-9s Recovery Specialist are in town and will be getting to work tomorrow morning. They specialize in evidence recovery and forensics. Their dogs can actually distinguish the difference between an animals body or a humans; and are also trained to search water, land, ash, and also vehicles.

This team volunteered their services to help find Mickey Schunick.

I wish the K-9 team good luck and hope for the sake of Mickey's family they find her.

The problem in searching for a [missing person] in the gulf coast states is the alligators. Hiding the evidence of a murder is as easy as dumping a body where the 'gators are.

Alabama girl missing a week.

uh oh uncle

WKRG

ROBERTSDALE, Alabama --
"Brittney come home. Payton wants you baby. We love you. Please come home to your family."

A mother's plea that so far has not been answered. Family and friends traveled from Tillmans Corner to search the woods near Styx River. "This was the last place her phone was 'pinged'," says her father Wallace Hanke. "They found the signal bouncing off one of these towers and we haven't talked to her in over a week. We need some help finding her."

"You know your child's routine. She has done nothing routine. She always calls me and she ain't called me," says her mother Chessie Wood.

Last Thursday, Brittney Wood told family members she was headed to this house near Styx River to see her uncle Donnie. Donnie Wood returned home near Fairhope on Friday and shot himself. Brittney hasn't been heard from since.

"Her uncle has committed suicide and supposedly he was the last one she was with and so we're worried about that," says Hanke. "I'm hoping to God and I really don't think he would hurt my baby," says Brittney's mother.

Investigators returned to the house searching for her cell phone or any other clues. Neighbor Laura Payne says she saw Brittney at the house sitting in a tree swing. "She had the same body type, the same hair and she just sat there. She didn't move or nothing. She looked over at me and I waved at her and she didn't wave back."

A week later and still no sign of Brittney. Her father hopes maybe she will hear their message, "Anybody in the family get in touch with us and let us know you are okay."

Another strange twist to this story, when Brittney left Tillmans Corner she left on foot HUH? for the 40 mile trip to Styx River. Her family is sure someone gave her a ride here and they'd like to talk to that person as well.

Hey thanks ever so much tlynne, glad to hear it is not Mickey, however it is some other poor soul. December 16th 2011 2 ladies in Florida went missing, a leg washed up on a small beach at St. Petersburg a tourist found it, I wonder if this torso is part of this leg, the leg found belongs to one of the ladies the other lady has never been found.

I haven't watched the news all day. Did the PI tell reporters or hint to reporters who he thinks killed Mickey?

i wouldn't rely on the examiner to line a birdcage, nor a self-styled PI to solve a case. i cannot locate his credentials. but the same non-story is all over the place now.

and you don't wait days and days to talk with police about your "solid tips".
but, he does have to justify whatever his fees are.

When asked about whether he feels Shunick is alive or not, Abdella estimates there is a 5050 chance. damn...he's a fucking genius! Sherlock

this is the torso. i figured it was local.

HANCOCK COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -
As more body parts wash up on South Mississippi's beaches, officials now say they are 100 percent positive the torso found in Bay St. Louis Thursday belongs to Jaren Lockhart of New Orleans. The 22-year-old has been missing since Tuesday.

According to Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove, a calf washed ashore around 6am Saturday morning on the Beach in Pass Christian in front of Emerald Avenue.

About an hour and a half later a thigh was found in front of Holiday Drive in Pass Christian. Just before 8am a head was found at Picture Point in Long Beach. A fourth body part was discovered around 11am in Pass Christian.

Thursday evening just before 6pm, a torso was found on the beach in Bay St. Louis.

Officials had said it would be next week before DNA results would give a positive identification. But the pathologist in the case told WLOX News Saturday that the victim is Lockhart. Officials wouldn't say if that determination was made based on DNA or identification of body parts.

Authorities are along the beach looking for more body parts. All the remains found in Harrison County Saturday have been turned over to Hancock County investigators.

There is a $25000 Reward for any information leading to the whereabouts of Mickey Shunick, no questions asked.
http://findmickeynow.com/

I don’t know if this reward is a good idea or not. It might bring someone forward who is afraid to speak with LE, but what if 10,000 people thought they would try to win the lottery by calling in thousands of irrelevant tips. Has this approach worked in other cases?

HellNurse, a reward so soon sounds like we do not have a clue! JMO

I've no idea who these 2 people are or what incidents, I think this is strange, 2 sick freaks driving around now. I read a carnival was on when Mickey went missing that night, I wonder where did this carnival come from and where was is it going next? I read one of those carnival people is on the sex offenders list. Pack up and move, pack up and move it's what they do I wonder if Mickey went with friends, she'd stick out with her blonde hair. Katelyn Markham went missing late on a Saturday Night in Fairfield, Ohio and a Festival was taking place at a Catholic Church the carnival was there. Katelyn has not been found.

John Abdella is 73, maybe he found info out no one else did IMO gosh I hope so.

The other white truck in the video has been cleared.

Someone could have been waiting for Mickey much closer to her home in a residential area without street cameras.
