Thinking about this case last night, I wondered where the young men from 30-40 years old were. I even stated early in this thread that I believed that "older" men would come out of the woodwork about Jerry's abuse, as a man doesn't start abusing at age 52.
I guess we have our answer, he was abusing his own sons in the 70's and 80's. Matt is 33, which would put him at age 10 in 1989. He was adopted by the Sanduskys at age 18. Was this a pay out to him? He got the Sandusky name, college paid for, and help to get his life started for his silence? Nothing said about Jerry and Dottie Sandusky would surprise me anymore. If someone came out and said they fattened children in their basement and ate them I would probably believe it *sigh*.
Matt Sandusky's adoption
Debra Long told ABC News in an exclusive interview that sharing her now 33-year-old son Matt with Sandusky had been a nightmare after the coach became the boy's guardian via foster care in 1995. Long says that she watched as her child became enamored with the local hero and then increasingly frightened by Sandusky's behavior.
"It was Jerry Sandusky, you know? Any 10-year-old kid is going to be impressed by Penn State football," Long said. "And then it was the gifts. You know, money and clothing and whatever … It was as if Jerry owned Matthew." Sandusky entered the lives of the Longs as a mentor when Matt was 10 years old, via The Second Mile charity for at-risk youth, which the former Penn State defensive coordinator founded. When Matt was placed in juvenile hall after he set fire to a barn in 1995, he soon entered the Sandusky home as a foster child. He was adopted by Sandusky as an adult at age 18.

judge expecting disorder in the court. or maybe in the street?i can't recall ever seeing this. it will take forever to read each count, then poll the jury blah blah. usually some reporter will run outside with verdict immediately when it's a high-profile case.

BELLEFONTE, Pa. (CBS) – Jury deliberations are now underway in the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse case.

On Thursday, the judge sequestered the jury and issued an order prohibiting members of the media from reporting the verdict until after the court has been adjourned.

According to the order, if any member of media reports the verdict through before the court is adjourned, it will be considered a violation and the reporter, as well as the media outlet they work for, could face sanctions.

As noted in the order, “The time that court is adjourned will be noted in the record. Any report or broadcast of the jury’s verdict posted or broadcast before the noted time will be deemed to have been made in violation of this order and may result in sanctions against both the reporter and the media outlet which broadcasts or otherwise distributes information.”

The court will not be adjourned until a verdict for each count is read and recorded, the jurors are excused and the attorney motions are addressed.

In addition, no individual is permitted to leave the courtroom until the court is adjourned.

A sheriff will be present and has been authorized by the judge to enforce the regulations, including making sure signals are not relayed through the courtroom window to anyone outside that could violate the judge’s order.

I'm sure either way there is going to be public outcry. There are people that love Sandusky and don't believe the charges. He is after all a legend at Penn State. Then there are people that hate him for what he did and want to see him punished.

That sounds illegal and unconstitutional.

Ma: That sounds illegal and unconstitutional.
i don't think so. judges are little dictators about how their courtrooms are run. and may do what is necessary to maintain order in the court.

but since this was not shown on TV, he could have had a media room, where the media pool has the proceedings shown on CCTV. that happens often. then there is no disruption of court with everyone rushing out to their cameraperson to get the first "scoop" on the air.

I disagree. I don't think there will be much said when he goes to prison. After the damage he did to their beloved PSU, Sandusky's status is completely diminished. Not to mention the fact that his actions and words are no longer viewed through the prism of his coaching stature - they are now viewed as that of a child predator.

True story: when I went to football camp in high school at PSU, Sandusky was one of the floor monitors on my floor. He and another coach slept two rooms down the hall. He was a creepy guy back then, and paid a little bit too much attention to one of the other kids from my high school all week. Looking back now, it seems even creepier.

i am anxious to see whether if convicted he is remanded right away, sentencing postponed to later date, or home with ankle monitor.

I watched it on CNN this morning the verdict came through. It was great to see he was convicted. That wifey is standing by him though.

What I wonder, is who molested Jerry. Still no excuse for what he did. I have never heard that question even come up, anywhere. I know not all molested kids become molesters, but a majority of them do.

A few terms he is already familiar with that will now have new meaning...
Happy Valley: the nickname inmates are going to give his butt cheeks and anus.

Nittany Lion: a sex act in which a male (Jerry most likely) crouches like a lion while being entered from behind.

Beaver Stadium: the nickname of Jerry's new cell for the next 60 years, where teams of men will play for 60 minutes at a time.
