Do you agree with this?

A California mom was sentenced to 180 days in jail after she pleaded guilty to allowing her kids to miss more than 10 percent of the of the school last year.

If not the mother to blame, then who?

She was warned.

Agreed.
She was warned a dozen times. We have that here. I am warned when our kids are tardy more than 3 times. You can be fined and/or incarcerated.

Yes. How lazy do you have to be so that your kids miss school? They aren't cutting, they're in second and third grade. Get up, feed them, get them dressed, their hair and teeth brushed, and get them to school. The rest of us manage to do it every single day.
Just shut up. Just shut the fuck up right now.

I would love to hear her excuse. 116 days? That's outrageous! Makes me worry for the home life these kids have. I say it was deserved, especially after the warnings.

It kind of pisses me off that there's no mention of a father (that I saw). If there's one in the picture, he ought to be right there beside her.

I think 180 days is excessive although it says she has some criminal record. I think for most semi-sane people, if you stick them in jail for a couple of weeks or a month, that would be motivation enough to get the kids to school. Smiley_emoticons_slash

The baby daddy probably isn't in the picture or maybe he was at work while the mom was too lazy to make her kids go to school. It's a shame the lesson these kids are learning. You don't feel like going to school? Aw, don't go. They will treat a job the same way when they grow up.

Maybe the rational was that isn't 180 the number of school days the kidlets are required to attend school each year. That number of 180 school days attendance would be ingrained in the mother's brain forever.

I have a friend whose ex wife was too lazy to get her kids up for school (he worked 4 AM to 6 PM). She then spent the rest of the day screaming at her kids to "shut up and watch tv!". They went to court for it twice, but she never served any jail time. She has since left the 4 kids in his care and took off for parts unknown. She's the kind of woman where nothing is her fault, no one can give her a break, whine whine cry. Perhaps this woman is of the same mindset.
